So when is the Galaxy S3 getting it?

4. Commentator posted on 21 Jun 2012, 15:29 57

Given Samsung's recent update history on its Galaxy S and Galaxy S 2 models, I'd say about 9 months. So look for it March 2013.

It's not too bad, it's only about the length of a human pregnancy. It is "designed for humans" after all.

6. tlsmithsr posted on 21 Jun 2012, 15:34 10

Nice!

7. ilia1986 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 15:37 12

Or - dear Commentator - you can grab a 4.1 Custom Rom as soon as one of the XDA guys begins working on it. Which is pretty soon, I say, given past events.

21. SuperAndroidEvo posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:27 2 1

YES I will have it too. God bless root! I won't have Verizon or no carrier tell me when I can have Android 4.1 Jellybean.

Just like I have had S-Vioce for weeks the same will be for the next Android update!

You all know why it won't happen soon. The nexus phones are bare bones android gs 2 and gs3 are covered over with touchwiz and other carrier apps

34. Non_Sequitur posted on 21 Jun 2012, 19:05 5

Does anyone know what this person is saying?

43. Synack posted on 21 Jun 2012, 21:05 5

Said person must be under 21 to be talking like that.

60. tlsmithsr posted on 22 Jun 2012, 19:22 1

Nope and if you don't understand text lingo you must not know anything about a cell phone.. so "wtf" are you doing on this site?

61. Berzerk000 posted on 22 Jun 2012, 21:38 1

This site isn't about how people talk on a device, it's about the devices themselves. And we like to type like normal humans with correct spelling, and no text talk such as lol, wtf, and smh. Come on, I'm 15, and I never type like that. I might say lol on occasion when texting, but sometimes I actually say "Haha" instead. I might not always use correct punctuation, but at least I spell my words out. Just because you're on a site that talks about phones, doesn't mean you can comment on it like you're on one. And even so, you should probably get out of the habit on text talk, it gets annoying after a while.

62. tlsmithsr posted on 23 Jun 2012, 09:04 1

It was to be taken lightly and we? who is we i'm not you or anyone on here. I talk how i want to but to please the retards.... This news it so funny oh my gosh .. only 7% of all android phones have Ice cream sandwich and google is already preparing the launch of Jellybean *shaking my head* It kind of funny though considering I have the galaxy nexus and most people are waiting on the GS3. I'm literally Laughing out loud right now. aka ~ this news it so funny.. omg, smh and im also lol

63. Berzerk000 posted on 23 Jun 2012, 11:44

We = everyone who comments on this site, or at least most of us like to use correct grammar and spelling. There wasn't really any need to call me and everyone else who uses correct grammar a retard.

Android fans : yes its revolutionary !!

Oh man give me a break duh,its no different from ifans.

13. SleepingOz posted on 21 Jun 2012, 15:55 8 1

Where have you seen such comment? I know you're kinda frustrated and pissed that WP8 wasn't able to catch up on ICS and now, with Jellybean coming next, widens the gap but seriously, go troll elsewhere!

16. SleepingOz posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:09 5

Actually, WP8 seem to be as closed as WP7.

17. Berzerk000 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:12 7 2

The only time an Android fan has ever said 'It's revolutionary!' is when they were mocking Apple. Though that is a bit childish (and getting quite old).

20. Oxygen posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:14 6 1

I have not seen such comment yet.

"Oh man give me a break duh.."
Why bother trolling then?

65. cripton805 posted on 25 Jun 2012, 11:15

While we get slow revolutionary updates, you never get anything revolutionary. Siri was bought off by Apple. They didnt even create Siri and that was the main sellpoint for the 4s.

Android has had voice assist since launch... Hell, some feature phones had it before IOS and Android existed. While not as enhanced as Siri, I do not know how Apple was able to buy a patent and sue people trying to "claim" they copied their idea. When it was never their idea and was created long ago...

Kinda like their 3d mapping. I have had that since my old Incredible and maybe even previous phone had it too. Someone person said it isnt as detailed in a previous post... More detailed than StreetView? Like if you were driving down that street? I doubt Apple will be able to match StreetView, but we will see... Maybe 3 or 4 phones later and theyll call it revolutionary just like they are taking credit for 3d mapping.

I was expecting Google to refresh hw in galaxy nexus - 4core S4, real HD display (not pentile), beefy battery :)

9. ekia007 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 15:40 5 2

Thank God I bought GSM Nexus 2 months ago. Finally will have a first chance to taste Jellybean compares to other Non-Nexus users.

44. Synack posted on 21 Jun 2012, 21:06

I don't know why you're thanking god. You probably bought it with your own money.

46. JGuinan007 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 21:56

Do we even know who is making the next Nexus Device?

10. Commentator posted on 21 Jun 2012, 15:45 4

I hope Mountain View has got a few tricks up their sleeve with JB, or else it will be a very tough battle against the upcoming Windows tablets. Cupertino needs to perform big with the next iPhone too, considering iOS 6 didn't make too big a splash.

54. ilia1986 posted on 22 Jun 2012, 04:56 1

Let's see:

iPad 3: incremental upgrade.

iOS 6: incremental upgrades.

iPHone 5: ????

You guessed it. Incremental upgrades.

12. gallitoking posted on 21 Jun 2012, 15:50 7 2

must be the Sprint version because the Verizon will not be updated.. they recently had one and no plans in the next year for another..

22. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:41

The GSM and Sprint version of the GN will get JellyBean right away and then 6 months after that Verizon will finally decide to update theirs.

23. BuckeyeCadet86 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:41

It is referring to the international version only. The Sprint variant is still a CDMA Galaxy Nexus, the update mentioned is for the HSPA+ model

28. Non_Sequitur posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:58 3 1

Vuck Ferizon.
But really, the Sprint SGSII hasn't gotten ICS yet either. Only Tmo. Sprint sucks too, lol.

14. ghostnexus posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:03 1 2

I just hope the update is better than iOS 6

19. Berzerk000 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:14 11 3

2.3 is better than iOS 6.

24. gallitoking posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:52 3 12

who cares if it is.. it would only be on 5% of devices...

26. Non_Sequitur posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:56 7 2

Actually, 2.3 is on most devices right now.
You're saying you'd rather have new s**tty software as opposed to somewhat old good software. Yeah, makes sense.

48. Berzerk000 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 22:50 1

Even if 4.1 won't be on every device, 2.3 and 4.0 are still very good versions of Android, and it's not always good to have every device capable of running the newest version. It's always good to have a few devices out, work out some of the issues with the newest version, then when most of the problems are solved update the other devices. And also take note, a fair portion of Android devices are lower/mid-range phones that are not capable of running 4.0 smoothly, and so they are not updated because the manufacturers want the best experience possible for the consumers. iOS 5 runs horribly on the iPhone 3GS, and Android 4.0 would be all laggy and practically unusable on something like the Defy+ so the Defy+ will not be updated, though being released in the middle of last year.

38. jan25 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 20:01 1 2

imagine ICS goodness but more polished, sprinkled with some extra feature.. oh believe me "facebook integration" IOS can't touch Android for some time.

25. DigitalBoy05 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:56 2

i dont understand why in this article there is a emphasis on 4.1 being aimed at tablet features. 4.0 was released to unify the handset and tablet experience. 4.1 will grant the same features on phones as tablets when it rolls out.

57. Scott_H posted on 22 Jun 2012, 12:37

There were several reports that 4.1 would be a tablet-oriented update. Not to say they would de-unify the OS, just that most of the new features would be aimed at larger screen devices. If that were the case it would be easy to imagine most phones skipping 4.1 (even though they could use it) and waiting for the next major OS update.

But if they are going to roll Jellybean out to the Galaxy Nexus right away, there must be a decent amount of updates for phones as well.

27. housry23 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 16:57 2

I have the Verizon GNex and am seriously thinking of selling it and terminating my contract. I want the GSM Nexus, because Verizon has seriously failed when it comes to the Nexus line and Google failed to muscle Verizon into not including any bloat. Verizon took months to get 4.0.4 and I assume 4.1 will be no different. I'm rooted and I run the latest version of Android, but with CDMA's proprietary files it would be much easier for devs if VZW would release updates in a timely manner and considering this is supposed to be a Nexus, it should be released right away.

35. Non_Sequitur posted on 21 Jun 2012, 19:09 2

Do it. Verizon's recent f**kery has convinced me to go with AT&T when my Sprint contract runs out.

55. housry23 posted on 22 Jun 2012, 06:22

Yes, but if I do, I won't be going with at&t. I'll be going prepaid for sure. Probably T-mobiles online $30 a month plan. Only 100 minutes talk, but unlimited text and 5GB of data. It's not for everyone, but I rarely talk on the phone. Most of my communication is through texting. I did the math and even adding in the cost of a full price phone I will save 1400+ every 2 years. If I wait just a bit I can pay a lot less for unlocked phones too.

31. _PHug_ posted on 21 Jun 2012, 17:48 2 2

Sorry but the Nexus blows because it doesn't have SD expansion.
They can throw Android version 6.6 hot chocolate on it and I'll still pass

49. Berzerk000 posted on 21 Jun 2012, 22:55 1 1

Not everyone needs expandable memory. That's why manufacturers are starting to leave them out of their devices, and they just put more on board memory in, because the average consumer will hardly notice the memory.

53. _PHug_ posted on 22 Jun 2012, 04:42 1

16 GB is "more on board memory" to you? 16GB that will probably end up as 12GB usable?

Maybe accepting less features in your flagship devices is acceptable to you, but I pay full price for my stuff and less is unacceptable.

Oh, and your "average consumer" is some moron that buys phones based on how it looks or what phone had a cute song in the commercial.

58. Berzerk000 posted on 22 Jun 2012, 13:32

By "more on board memory" I meant they are releasing different memory models. 16 and 32 GB mainly. And no, I won't accept less features in my flagship device, but if there are features that I don't need I can go without them, and the majority of people don't need expandable memory. And you are correct, the average consumer is someone who just buys phones on how they look, or how they are advertised. Don't get all pissy because I disagreed with your opinion. No need to call the consumers morons (even though a fair portion of them are) and no need to act all high and mighty because "I pay full price for my stuff and less is unacceptable." If you get a 32 GB model of the One X, about 26 GB will be available to you, and unless you're a photographer who uses his phones camera primarily, or have a few thousand songs you put on your device, you won't need that much.
