Given Samsung's recent update history on its Galaxy S and Galaxy S 2 models, I'd say about 9 months. So look for it March 2013.

It's not too bad, it's only about the length of a human pregnancy. It is "designed for humans" after all.

This site isn't about how people talk on a device, it's about the devices themselves. And we like to type like normal humans with correct spelling, and no text talk such as lol, wtf, and smh. Come on, I'm 15, and I never type like that. I might say lol on occasion when texting, but sometimes I actually say "Haha" instead. I might not always use correct punctuation, but at least I spell my words out. Just because you're on a site that talks about phones, doesn't mean you can comment on it like you're on one. And even so, you should probably get out of the habit on text talk, it gets annoying after a while.

While we get slow revolutionary updates, you never get anything revolutionary. Siri was bought off by Apple. They didnt even create Siri and that was the main sellpoint for the 4s.

Android has had voice assist since launch... Hell, some feature phones had it before IOS and Android existed. While not as enhanced as Siri, I do not know how Apple was able to buy a patent and sue people trying to "claim" they copied their idea. When it was never their idea and was created long ago...

Kinda like their 3d mapping. I have had that since my old Incredible and maybe even previous phone had it too. Someone person said it isnt as detailed in a previous post... More detailed than StreetView? Like if you were driving down that street? I doubt Apple will be able to match StreetView, but we will see... Maybe 3 or 4 phones later and theyll call it revolutionary just like they are taking credit for 3d mapping.

It is referring to the international version only. The Sprint variant is still a CDMA Galaxy Nexus, the update mentioned is for the HSPA+ model

Even if 4.1 won't be on every device, 2.3 and 4.0 are still very good versions of Android, and it's not always good to have every device capable of running the newest version. It's always good to have a few devices out, work out some of the issues with the newest version, then when most of the problems are solved update the other devices. And also take note, a fair portion of Android devices are lower/mid-range phones that are not capable of running 4.0 smoothly, and so they are not updated because the manufacturers want the best experience possible for the consumers. iOS 5 runs horribly on the iPhone 3GS, and Android 4.0 would be all laggy and practically unusable on something like the Defy+ so the Defy+ will not be updated, though being released in the middle of last year.

There were several reports that 4.1 would be a tablet-oriented update. Not to say they would de-unify the OS, just that most of the new features would be aimed at larger screen devices. If that were the case it would be easy to imagine most phones skipping 4.1 (even though they could use it) and waiting for the next major OS update.

But if they are going to roll Jellybean out to the Galaxy Nexus right away, there must be a decent amount of updates for phones as well.

Yes, but if I do, I won't be going with at&t. I'll be going prepaid for sure. Probably T-mobiles online $30 a month plan. Only 100 minutes talk, but unlimited text and 5GB of data. It's not for everyone, but I rarely talk on the phone. Most of my communication is through texting. I did the math and even adding in the cost of a full price phone I will save 1400+ every 2 years. If I wait just a bit I can pay a lot less for unlocked phones too.

Not everyone needs expandable memory. That's why manufacturers are starting to leave them out of their devices, and they just put more on board memory in, because the average consumer will hardly notice the memory.

By "more on board memory" I meant they are releasing different memory models. 16 and 32 GB mainly. And no, I won't accept less features in my flagship device, but if there are features that I don't need I can go without them, and the majority of people don't need expandable memory. And you are correct, the average consumer is someone who just buys phones on how they look, or how they are advertised. Don't get all pissy because I disagreed with your opinion. No need to call the consumers morons (even though a fair portion of them are) and no need to act all high and mighty because "I pay full price for my stuff and less is unacceptable." If you get a 32 GB model of the One X, about 26 GB will be available to you, and unless you're a photographer who uses his phones camera primarily, or have a few thousand songs you put on your device, you won't need that much.
