According to those who have received a recently shipped unit, the Google Nexus 4 has been slightly redesigned and the handset now includes a couple of nubs on the rear of the phone that helps keep the speaker off a surface so that you can hear all of the sound when you put it on a table; the redesign also helps prevent the glass from getting some scratches a it prevents contact with a table

I fail to see how this is even newsworthy. Those changes are virtually unnoticeable or affects anything.

I agree. Can we call this a "facelift"?

Truth is it really affects the sound, its gonna be louder with the nubs.
Try ko cup the speaker of your phone and listen to the difference.

Well I've got the old one and have to prop up the phone so I can hear the speaker, I would not need to do that with the new one. I'm just amazed they were that stupid the first time...

This would probably not be made public if this site were a general news site but this is Phonearena, every news about phones should show up no matter big or small the news is since This is a dedicated site for things related to phones, tablets, and the likes.
Sooooooo, say some President of somewhere was killed by a nuclear blast, don't expect any privilege from this site making that headline news unless he died and was found holding his S4 in hand.

Why the subtle shots at Google Alan F? Referring to these nubs as 'amazing' and 'wondering how many engineers it took to come up with these nubs' is giving the impression that you 'aren't impressed'. Do you guys at PA have control over what you write about?

Why are people talking so naive. In design, a small change can have great impact just like this little change in design they made. This little protrusion will make sound louder and it will protect the back of the phone from getting scratches. It can even protect the back from breaking due to impact, if the phone fell flat.

SonyEricsson always designed their phones so that the speaker was never covered even when you left the phone flat of the table. They did it sometimes through a curved shape of the back, sometimes with the protruding SE logo, or both... these should be basic design choices and sometimes, when I see that even the most obvious design choices have not been done, I wonder if people who design phones also use them.
