Google Maps now updated to version 5.4.0
Google Maps has been updated to version 5.4.0. One of the new features allows you to notify Google when Maps and Navigation send you to the wrong location, or if a certain address does not show up at all. You can also now view your Google Map searches in Google web history allowing you to have a centralized search history. The last feature added brings more detail to businesses that you find on Google Maps. For example, let's say you see a restaurant. You can now get additional details such as the type of cuisine served, the parking situation, the year it was opened and info about the neighborhood it is located in. Just remember to update the app before you use it next.

Don't know when they updated their sats, now my new metal roof is shown on the house which I put in Nov so I would say +/- 6 month. Street view still looks the same and has the old roof.

If you zoom in close enough with street view, you can see a watermark on the picture as to when it was taken.

I wonder how long it will be before the likes of Garmin and their competitors are out of business? With Google's navigation app (and supposedly a similar one from Apple soon), the value proposition for Garmin and company seems less and less.

I know what you are saying, but I still find myself using a standalone app (if that is what you are referring) on the phone, due to the area I travel here and there, no cell/data service.
