Google I/O 2012 Keynote Liveblog
Want to know what's going on at Google I/O's opening keynote and be among the first to know about the new announcements? Then you're a true Google fan, and deserve a liveblog! We're giving you just that. It's now pretty much official that we'll finally see Jelly Bean - the latest Android iteration, but what's even more interesting is the Nexus tablet that's also expected to be unveiled. The tablet will probably be produced in tight partnership between Google and Asus, and, to tell you the truth, we can't wait to see if all the rumors about a quad-core Tegra 3 processor and a game-changing price tag of $199 will turn out true.

Tune in your Chromes to PhoneArena.com a few minutes before 9:30AM Pacific | 11:30AM Central | 12:30PM Eastern | 6:30PM Central Europan time, to make sure that you don't miss a thing from Google I/O 2012!

13:47Bringing your this amazing live-blog experience was me - Ray. See ya fellas! :))
13:46Aaand that's a wrap, guys. Thanks for being with us. Don't forget that we have some cool I/O coverage coming, so stay tuned to PhoneArena!
13:44Google is one generous company.
13:43I should have listened to my mom when she said I should become a programmer...
13:42"Android Developer Pack" for all 6000 attendees: Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7 with Jelly Bean, and Nexus Q.
13:41They will be doing their first Google Plus event tonight, starring the Google I/O attendees.
13:39Hey guys, how does that sound to you: "iGlass"? Just kidding!
13:38A new video rolling, this time about the beauties of Google Plus.
13:38
13:37Sergey apologizes to Vic for interrupting his beautiful Google+ presentation.
13:36Devs seem a bit saddened.
13:36Here's the price for the Project Glass Explorer Edition - $1500
13:35Google Glass Explorer Edition - Developer pre-order for US-based IO attendees is now announced. Not a consumer product yet.
13:34
13:32
13:32It's a mom, wearing a semi-stylish white Project Glass, taking pics of her baby.
13:32They are rolling a video about Glass. Another one of those videos...
13:31If you are at a place, and want to know more (or anything) about it, without detaching from the environment, Project Glass will be suitable.
13:30Glass will also let you access information on the web... some day.
13:29
13:27We really hope this isn't all that Glass is about.
13:27,,,But they are still far from achieving their goal. They are almost entirely concentrating on the 1st person photo-taking feature.
13:26They are trying to convince us that it's actually perfectly fine to wear this device on your head all the time...
13:24But everything went fine in the end. By the way, Project Glass will be connected to the net via various radios.
13:23In case you're wondering, her speech isn't going very smooth.
13:23
13:22The latest Glass prototype weighs less than "many sunglasses".
13:22
13:21
13:19
13:19There's a touchpad on the side, a powerful processor, storage, mic, speaker, gyroscope, compass...
13:18
13:18One of the Glass designers is now on stage to talk a bit about the Glass.
13:17The skydivers are also in. It's like the ending of an epic action movie.
13:15It was an epic demo.
13:15
13:15And they are in the hall! Crazy round of applause!
13:15
13:14The bikers are also wearing Project Glass, so it was cool watching the guy drive and do some tricks.
13:14A few bikers will bring the skydivers to the hall, because the roof is quite big.
13:13
13:13Yeah, they landed on the roof of Moscone Center.
13:12
13:12When was that Project Glass coming out again?
13:11
13:11They jumped! We're looking at live video from the free falling...
13:11They seem a bit hesitant about the jump...
13:10
13:10They'll jump, stream the video of the jump through Project Glass, and eventually come here in Moscone. WOW!
13:09They are capturing the video from Project Glass. Looks like those guys will be jumping from the plane...

In a heart attack kind of way!!!

16. biophone posted on 27 Jun 2012, 11:50

Its actually kinda cool. That camera even more so lol

17. ilia1986 posted on 27 Jun 2012, 11:53 1

Speech recognition in offline = death so Siri, since the response on Siri is not instant due to network speed. :D

19. biophone posted on 27 Jun 2012, 11:56 1

That never seems to be a problem on siri when I use it.

21. ilia1986 posted on 27 Jun 2012, 11:57 1

Well there is a delay for several seconds due to the need to connect to the Apple server.

Not here! :D

23. biophone posted on 27 Jun 2012, 11:58

Its really fluid. I wouldn't call death to siri just yet till we here about majel

25. biophone posted on 27 Jun 2012, 12:00

Here is majel and it seems cool

18. good2great posted on 27 Jun 2012, 11:56 1 1

Project Butter = new BOSS of mobile OS's

at this point its a "no brainer" who's the best or more advanced...

if you like iOS nothing is wrong with that... but trying to compare it to android just aint a fair argument anymore...lol

Damn Google stepped their game up! lol

28. biophone posted on 27 Jun 2012, 12:03

If you say so

29. good2great posted on 27 Jun 2012, 12:10

yes i DO say so... its a change of guard in a sense... like Magic Johnson handing the basketball crown to Michael Jordan...

iOS will always be legendary... but at this point in the game android has surpassed it... and now that its OS will be a much smoother and optimized experience it kinda kills the "lag" argument...

not saying its worth selling an iphone/ipad to switch over but you have to recognize that this young OS is leading the pack...

i have no problems giving it props just by seeing what jelly bean is offering...

36. biophone posted on 27 Jun 2012, 12:51

Mad props to jellybean its a great OS I hope all android users enjoy it fully.

This is more of a Lebron and Durant situation. The two best dueling it out each trying to one up each other.

20. ilia1986 posted on 27 Jun 2012, 11:57 1

OMG Awesome awesome awesome!!!!!

22. remixfa posted on 27 Jun 2012, 11:58 3 1

wow. way to upgrade the already class leading notifications. thats pretty awesome stuff. (watching it live)

24. ilia1986 posted on 27 Jun 2012, 11:59 1 1

Google just announced more innovation in these 20 minutes than Apple did in the entire WWDC 2012! :D

26. remixfa posted on 27 Jun 2012, 12:01 1 1

the new voice improvements are quick, accurate, and sound much better.

try that on Siri. :)

27. biophone posted on 27 Jun 2012, 12:03 1 1

Nothing blow away as siri is already all those things but its a worthy competitor.

30. remixfa posted on 27 Jun 2012, 12:11 1 1

lol, really.. studies prove otherwise. google voice is already more accurate and does more. it just doesnt sound as nice.

i think you need to actually watch the video on the majel demonstration they just did before making blind comments. :)

34. biophone posted on 27 Jun 2012, 12:45 1

I am live streaming as well but I use siri all the time and only once did it not work right. It has always been smooth, accurate, and fast. Android seems to be similarly smooth, accurate, and fast but I will have to wait and see till I use it myself :).

31. remixfa posted on 27 Jun 2012, 12:13 2 1

this just shows how far advanced android has become vs iOS. comparing what i've seen in 20 mins vs all of iOS6.. its a huge difference.

600k apps and 30 billion downloads. What was apple just celebrating a month or so ago as far as DLs? I forgot.

32. good2great posted on 27 Jun 2012, 12:24 2 1

yeah man...

its time for iOS users to at least acknowledge the advancement of android and what its now offering with the newest technology.

i'm impressed. there's really no comparison anymore man...

the only thing thats left is the "quality" of the apps...

like i said before its no android vs iOS anymore... windows and android will duke it out... iOS will continue to upgrade/update as needed... it'll continue to be perfectly polished and function world class... but as far as keeping up with new features after new features thats not apples game anymore...

just my opinion...

39. good2great posted on 27 Jun 2012, 13:07

haha WOW! Vic couldn't help but acknowledge that iPad screen... i dont blame him... increasing that cash flow from apple... good mention on his part...

40. iamcc posted on 27 Jun 2012, 13:49 1

Awesome as always. Can't wait to get 4.1 on my Nexus :)

41. Santi_Santi posted on 27 Jun 2012, 13:50 2

Esta fue una de las mejores Conferencias que he visto en mi vida. No son como las supuestas "200 nuveas herraminetas" como la bestalidad de Apple. Google manda.

TRANSLATE: This is one of the best comferences ive seen in my whole life. not like the "200 new features" like apple"s bestiallity. Google rules!
