What about the LG Optimus 2X? When will the update arrive? I guess G2X got it first because it's just vanilla Android without the custom tweaks from LG.

OMG !.. we're waiting for Optimus 2x update ...

So a class lawsuit is necessary for this update to come. Optimus 2X owners should also create one for their GB update.

trying to do this update and bricked the phone

Bricked my phone as well. Have you tried the solution posted on the xda site? maybe you'll have better luck than I for the solution requires a windows xp

Can I get a link to that possible solution? My friend's phone got bricked too.

Here's the link with a solution but one must be running XP to use it or VM with XP. I will try it myself now and see if I can get the same reported results.

Hey all. Just finished the update via LG mobile support tool to Gingerbread 2.3.3. Update went fine for me. No brick, although i was prepaired for one with a clockwork mod back up of my stock ROM image just in case. Not even a data wipe or factory reset. Which is what I was afraid of I must say so I did a backup of literally everything through titanium backup pro. Not really sure why a few others were having problems updating through the software tool, maybe mine went ok cause im rooted? hmmm.... Everything seems to be working fine. Lets see if the random reboots went away. I used a laptop running windows 7 to do the update so i dont think windows version matters. Feel free to email me if you have questions. >>> firstname.lastname@example.org

just got off the phone with a T mobile rep and she said that this isn't the approved release from them. Its just a release that LG had put out there and won't be officiated by T mobile for another several of weeks. So with that they as she has stated can't help, so she referred me to LG and this number 800-793-8896 for further assistance with this problem. Sorry for not posting the link to the xda site, i'm at work and that site is blocked.

The solution posted on the xda site requires a pc running xp not the Lg update suite. Thats compatible with all versions of Windows. For me my phone was rooted, and I had clockwork recover installed as well. But I am unable to even boot into clockworks's recover but I am able to do so in the original OS recover, however I can not select any of the options to help with that. I just get all of the options such as install from zip, wipe and so forth. this all started while trying to update the program hanged at 4% completion. This then left the screen on my phone with S/W Upgrade please wait. For about a half to forty five minutes it remained within that state. So I did a battery pull to and restated the program. From there on nothing has worked for me. Later I will make use of that LG number and see what comes from it.

One more thing that might help clear up some confusion on the OTA update officially from tmobile. Electronista.com has an article they posted yesterday about the OTA update at this point in time being a pilot program internally to tmobile employees. They have an image of the statement from tmo that was posted on tmo news about this update pilot as well. So for now no real official update has been made available to the public but the pilot for employees started yesterday. I myself am an employee and didnt recieve it OTA yet but now im running it through the support tool so i might not get it at all. This all being said, for those who dont want to risk the chance at bricking your phone and arent rooted so you can do a solid restore in case that happens, the update should be coming out very shortly just as odemata stated above. If the employees are getting it as of yesterday, customers are right around the corner. This i can assure you.

Called LG and now I have to pay to send them the phone and they will pay to send it back to me for the phone needs to be analyzed. I think since i'm paying for insurance I will just say to Tmobile that the phone isn't working send me another from them as no postage charge. I feel this will be the last LG phone i'll ever own

uh, if you have tmobile handset insurance, their deductable is around 150-200 bucks. so your not exactly getting off scotch free

Took me a couple of tries to realize I needed to install a fresh driver with the phone disconnected from my PC. So I uninstalled/rebooted/re-installed the updater and driver. All better. This update is working great. Gingerbread is noticeably faster, battery life seems better, reboots and locks when switching wireless modes are gone, google apps (listen, reader) run better, bluetooth seems to work properly as well. Nobody mentions the new firmware and bug fixes, but it seems like every issue I had is resolved.
I'm totally pleased with the new OS and bug fixes.

Bricked my wife's phone. This is the only problem we have had with our phones that was not tmobiles fault. I despise tmobile and LG. They make you pay a lot of money for a product that doesn't work properly and then pay a lot of money for a service that is far from respectable. Tmobile and LG are crooks and thieves

If anyone has inadvertently used this used this unofficial update and
bricked or caused the phone to be stuck at s/w screen, well I can
confirm that the above link with the solution is viable. The only
caveat is that you must have a windows xp machine to use it. The
solution is not compatible with vista running in xp mode. Some have
had luck running with using windows 7 in xp mode download from
microsoft. Also those using a Mac or Linux build I would suggest try
virtual box and getting hold of a xp iso or instillation and then
follow the same method. My phone is now back in working order with
gingerbread functionality. My only worry is when it's officially
released by T mobile what changes will they include? Will it be OTA?
And will those who jumped the gun to undated will they have any
problems with their approved update?

updated my phone. it still has random reboots, shuts off when too hot, and the internet is slower. other than that the s/w is a little faster but this version of the update HAS NOT fixed my problems
