Gingerbread update for LG's Optimus line is ready to be unleashed in Europe

For a while there, some were scratching their heads wondering when the day would finally arrive, but thankfully enough, LG managed to spill the beans on its roll out through its Facebook page. Specifically, details regarding the European rollout mention that we’ll see the update rolling out to the LG Optimus 2x as quickly as November 1st. Meanwhile, the LG Optimus 3D is expected to get its tasty treat beginning on November 21st – with the LG Optimus Black getting its turn on November 28th.
However, it’s worth noting that the update is specifically targeting unlocked and unbranded versions of the “three premium smartphones.” So if you happen to be sporting one that has your carrier’s name on it, expect to wait a tad bit longer seeing they’ll need to perform their usual quality checks to ensure it’s good to go.
Without a doubt, European owners are going to be ecstatic about all of this, but it’ll be interesting to see when we’ll see their US counterparts getting in on all of the action.

Why must we always have to wait on the carriers ......

Because carriers have invested money in those very phones on their networks and must make sure it works within their guidelines and carry things which they would like it to carry. You don't want to wait, buy your phone unlocked then. You have a choice, a subsidized phone comes with stipulations and well if you are on Verizon there is no other kind of phone that works on their network but phones that they have contracted for use on their network. Their ballpark, play by their rules or go home. Just because you are paying for a service doesn't mean you can get anything you damn well please. You pay for service on the network and you sign a contract saying you will abide by the rules. Don't sign then complain about it, that's ignorant.

No update can fix the fact that these phones are made by LG.
