Gigantic 12-foot tall Microsoft Surface 2 tablet appears in central London

Here is a neat way for everyone to notice your product - erect a giant statue of it in one of the world’s largest cities. That’s exactly what Microsoft just did with its Surface 2…

That's pretty cool, but realistically only a fool would buy this over the Lumia 2520... unless of course you HAVE to have it right away.

Well, I quite agree that the Lumia 2520 is great, but I see some compelling things in the Surface 2. For me, that would be two years of 200GB in beautifully integrated Sky Drive (since Windows 8.1, I abandoned Dropbox and GDrive entirely), a full year of free Skype international calls and the US$50 of difference between them.
For the Lumia I see the great design, camera and LTE, unfortunately the latter means little to me, as I prefer to tether it from my phone.
I'm not quite sure which one I would get today, but what I can say of both is that Windows RT really surprised me. Absolutely thrilling for a study machine, great for multimedia. I don't miss the thousands of apps of asian girls breasts, farting and cats I left on my last OS. Specially because there are good sites for asian breasts out there!

"Here maps, navigation, transit, lens, drive (offline with voice), nokia camera apps, and nokia music?"
I'm torn between both tablets but:
My lumia 920 has Here maps, navigation, transit, lens, drive (offline with voice), nokia camera apps, and nokia music.
I don't use Nokia Music since I have a Zune(XBOX) Music pass.
The Surface offers the expandability of the blades. It's what has me thinking of grabbing the Surface 2.
Both are very well made devices. You aren't loosing by going either way.

Microsoft are rather good friends with NSA.
You can bet the Skydrive is monitored as an American cloud service.
Microsoft forced Skype calls/text to pass through their centralised servers so that NSA could monitor them (this was impossible before the Microsoft takeover due to the de-centralised and encrypted network of Skype).
American cloud services are laughable for anyone who values their privacy today. It's like saying you can get a wonderful house with a grand garden... Only it's in the middle of a minefield with lepers as your neighbours.

Who isn't friends with the NSA? It's sad but it's the Social world we live in. From our service providers to our OS of choice to our social media accounts.

There's a difference between being friends with and actively working with NSA for ones own gain, and being coerced through blackmailing via secret courts.
Some smaller companies simply shut down rather than allow NSA to destroy their privacy services. Microsoft didn't - they actively tried to claim the NSA rewards at the cost of their users. I wouldn't trust Microsoft to handle the excrements of my pets, let alone my private information.

I think that my personal information is as useful for anyone, let alone the government, as cow dung.
Why all this paranoia? We're safe, all the lolies pics are hidden in the basement.

I don't need to explain why I have the right to privacy, that's the point of privacy. People should stay the F out of your or my personal life.

A fool? I think both are excellent devices. The advantage the Surface has though is expandability in standard USB ports and the blades concept. With MS Surface 2 and Nokia 2520 whoever wins you win!

Would be more impressed if the 12 foot version was touch screen. Dont know of any company who's done anything like that. Would actually go there if it was touchscreen.

Integrate the Start button permanently and I might think about buying one.

Its there but it goes to the metro. If Microsoft would restore it I would actually consider switching to windows 8...
I know there are programs like open shell but they are buggy.

The Start button is better the way it is now. Right click on the Start button to get quick access to the stuff I used it for anyway, Control Panel stuff.

Great advertisement for a great overpriced product.
Can only hope some Mac fanatics don't crap on it :)
