Garmin to roll out an Android-based handset in 2010?
Garmin unveiled their plans to roll out an Android-based handset as soon as 2010 at an event dedicated to reporting their financial results for the last quarter a few days ago. Aside from making a general statement, the manufacturer failed to provide specific information on the matter, so we still don´t know when we are to expect the first Garmin-branded Android device. We wish we could tell you more, especially given Google´s latest move to roll out a completely free navigational app, Google Maps Navigation that has been around since Android 2.0 came out, must have made a lot of people at Garmin quite angry indeed. We do wonder what their team is up to in order to return the favour and strike back. If you happen to know anything on the topic, please, do not hesitate to get in touch via tips@phonearena.com.

I am sure TomTom, Garmin, Novatel and OnStar has seen their stocks take a nose dive since all the wireless carriers started adding navigation on their plans, why not create a cell phone that promotes their brand. Its a no brainer.

no way, the garmin doesn't come close to google maps. especially how i just hit one button and say where i want to go and instantly get there. also, the satellite and street view feature is amazing! good bye garmin nuivi.
