Galaxy S5 rumors, the Snapdragon 805 chip, and will the iPhone 6 have a larger screen? Weekly news round-up

Qualcomm – the company behind the Snapdragon SoCs powering many of today's smartphones – made an exciting announcement last week. The new Snapdragon 805 is now official, packing even more processing power with its four Krait 450 cores and enough graphics performance to drive displays with up to 4K resolution. While we know nothing as to what smartphones might be powered by the new chip, we're guessing that we might one day see a Samsung Galaxy S5 model with one of these under the hood. After all Samsung will need something capable of handling the smartphone's (rumored) 2560 x 1440 pixel display. In Apple news, (or should we say Apple rumors) there's a wild rumor out there, claiming that Apple is testing an iPhone 6 with a 4.9-inch display. It might be untrue, of course, but then again, you never know what Apple has in stock for us...

The S800 on my Note 3 is insanely fast. Definitely not upgrading to the SV.

It's not for you lol, its for those who have an S3 or something older. I just want to see this 6 inch iPhone though. Because then they have the option to do something truly revolutionary with it. This is where they can maybe prove that they are better than the others in design. Also, if they don't, we get to see them justify a larger screen, get to watch iFans claim how it's just better when Apple does it and conveniently forget years of hate.

I'll wait for the S VII since i have the XPERIA Z1 now. iPhone 6 won't exceed no larger than 4.8" while everyone else is at 5.2" or larger.

I wouldn't expect much from the S5 when it comes to design (in terms of esthetics. Not ergonomics, accomodating large removable battery and sd card cos i think they do well at those.) because the concepts of the s4 were super cool but when the real thing came out it was Meh... Uninspired to say the least compared to its fellow androids htc one and xperia z. Plus touchwiz... It Not only slows things down but also looks sh¡tty.

If everyone shared your opinion Sammy would have sold less S4 like the HTC one. Not everyone out there buys phones because of their looks. People buy Sammy because in a particular season let's say the HTC one and s4. The s4 has lots of advantages that you think or call gimmicks. The s4 has a better battery life than your HTC one. The s4 has a slightly bigger screen, a removable battery and sd card. Sammy's touchwiz may lag on the s4 but the features it comes with makes it accommodating. People who buy android are mostly people after features and functionality not beauty and that's why Sammy is on the android food chain. Leave the fancy pretty handsets to Apple.

Although touchwiz leaves plenty to be desired, I'd still take Samsung's offerings over the mundane Xperia Z, possibly the most dull forgotten phone from Sony this year in comparison to the much better Z Ultra and Z1 (the latter which still carries that dull uninspired Sony look). Plus HTC One's look really doesn't do anything for me, don't really see the appeal compared to say, the Note 3, the Lumia 1520, Xperia Z Ultra or even the G2. It's metal yes.....but very little else. Played with one, bored within a minute. A far cry from thier vintage phones of old from 2009.

I don't know if Samsung will have enough time to integrate Snapdragon 805 for S5 launch.
S5 should arrive between Jan and March 2014 and that's only a few months away.
My bet is that they'll use Exynos on the international version, and Snapdragon 800 on US variant.s

I disagree. No chance Samsung uses the same processor that the Note 3 uses (and most of the top of the line devices for the last 3 months or so have been using) for next year's flagship. It will be an 805 or something better for sure.
