Galaxy S5 price tag would fall 24% by the summer, research firm suggests

0. phoneArena 12 Feb 2014, 03:35 posted on

Based on historical data from the previous Samsung Galaxy flagships, the price of this year's S5 model is expected to fall with a quarter of its launch tag after the first three months on the market, shows research of the UK price comparison firm Idealo. The worst offender in the list seems to have been the Galaxy S III, whose price dropped like a rock from the high seventies to the high forties percentile of its initial asking between the first six months on the market, and a year after that. A more gradual decline can be observed in the Galaxy S II and S4 pricing over time...

This is Because of Samsung's Design Saturation in every market and after a particular interval of time one feels that there is not a significant update from the previous model i.e GS3 to GS4..Only some software features upgrade and screen size by (.2) inches.

All in all the build quality is quite same..

No, it is because in a competitive market, margins as high as $300+ per phone aren't going to last. Only Apple used to command that kind of power because they were in a non-competitive field until apparently the iPhone 5s release, where even that was discounted 15-25% within 2-3 months. So this happens to all when they have to face competition especially in the droid market.

Economic (debt in reality) crisis is growing
very well in Europe and USA.

This would give it a steeper slope to the graph line

Not yet, they have it propped up pretty well with their monetary easing (ie: lies and deceit) so for the next year it should be fine and there will be "growth" at least.

Monetary easing in US yes, but peoples finance goes from bad to worse.
EU monetary easing (money print) can't happened by default.
And if it could, would lead to large increase of price index.

That's why Germany NEEDS to cannibalize the other countries, mostly the south.
For example german municipals are so much in debts,
that if they were a bit more, would be hut-villages in Africa. No kidding.
That's why german municipals aquired greek ones (!) that were in much better condition. To cannibalize their assets. Believe it.

You sure sound like an ignorant. They did keep more or less the same design but the software features and the screen bump weren't the only upgrade.

Oh really!! would yew plz let us know what samsung added in S4 except what i've written above..Coz if they added something different then S4 sales would not have gone down in the past..There are lots of wiser minds out there who still uses S3 or switched to another brand for the time being instead of wasting big bucks on S4..

Full HD vs HD

13Mp vs 8MP

2600 mah vs 2100 mah

Bigger display

Wireless charging

2GB ram vs 1 GB ram

GG3 vs GG2

Octa core with its unique big.LITTLE architecture vs Quad core

Smaller in size inspite of being larger display and battery is an engineering feat.

......and that's not even the entire list !

'...Coz if they added something different then S4 sales would not have gone down in the past' - GS4 IS THE HIGHEST SELLING ANDROID MOBILE PHONE EVER !

"Design Saturation"

The S5 has an overhauled UI and design.

Personally, I think sammy's going to unleash a beast this year. Let's be honest; if they don't, their high-end smartphone market share will go tumbling down like crazy.

What an amazing bit of research. I could have told you this, purely based on the fact that the new iPhone is launched later in the Summer, so the price is bound to drop...derrrrrr

I think Samsung have had their time at the top of Android. Now its time for someone else to step up in the Android market and rule. LG or Sony look the most likely to do that IMO.

I only buy unlocked phones. Does this price drop include unlocked phone versions as well?

Give S5 a miss, wait for S6.
