Galaxy Note 3 tipped to arrive with a 5.7" display this time

Perennial mobile whistleblower @evleaks has trumped the 6" Full HD screen card rumored so far for Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 3 phablet, and says it was tipped the panel is actually going to be 5.7 inches, like on the Chinese Vivo Play phablet...

If they can make the Note III smaller & thinner than the Note II with this BEAST 5.7" screen that would make Samsung's next phablet an INSANE looking sexy device.
I am digging where Samsung is going with this, so far the Note III is shaping up to be something WE are TOTALLY not expecting.
Samsung might have a REAL winner here. I can't WAIT to see what they come up with for the Samsung Galaxy Note III.

If they keep shrinking the bezels, though, the device will be much more prone to smashes from drops.

Yes but it's a risk to take when you buy a phone that is 95% 1080p HD screen as this Note III is leaning towards.
Who knows maybe the phone will be more durable than the Note II because it will be lighter.
Yeah probably not..... lol

Probably not. Shrinking the Bezel is all well and good has long has it is still big enough that the screen won't burst when it's dropped.

The smash / breakage risks actually diminish should the device becomes lighter and incorporates a stronger frame (similar to the S4 vs S3).

I feel like we've been expecting it. Bigger screen, less bezel, faster processor, better camera, newer and better stylus with more input methods, better screen, gorilla glass 3, bigger battery, IR blaster for controlling TV. It's the same thing every year, not that there is anything wrong with that...but it is predictable.
If they used premium feeling materials and made it waterproof like the s4 active, then I would be wholeheartedly surprised. Suffice to say, I like the smaller bezel thing the industry is doing..bigger screens in smaller form factors. Niiiiccceeee.

I don't think anyone aside from Samsung actually knows what size the Note 3 will be yet. We've heard 5.99", 5.9", 5.7", & possibly some others that I've forgotten about. I will say this. 5.7" or smaller is the only size screen in which they could make the device the same size or smaller than the Note 2. I don't really care either way, though. They could go all the way to the size of the Mega 6.3 & I'd still buy it. September can't come soon enough.

question; have they confirmed that the Note 3 is coming out in september? I upgrade in late July, and I may be able to be patient enough to wait, even though I seriously doubt it.

The latest would be October earliest would be August so wait for it

Since the S4 retained it's predecessor's size even with the screen increase, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Note III doing the same. It's a question of one-handed use, you can still mostly do that on Note II (providing you're a man) so there is no need to change your using habits, but 6"+ is too big most of the time for one hand, and I think Mega/Mate users will always operate with 2 hands.
Whatever happens I just want Sammy to pack at least a 3600mAh battery, or more.

That might be a little overly optimistic. The S4 shaved away most of it's screen real estate by eliminating quite a bit of bezel from the bottom, and then shaved some from the sides of the S3. The Note 2 already has a lot of that shaved off. There's simply not as much room to squeak out screen space here.
Now add in that the efforts for the S4 netted it an additional 0.2 inches of screen space, whereas to hit 6 inches, the Note 3 needs an additional 0.5 inch.
If Samsung wants to keep the overall size the same, the biggest screen I can see is indeed 5.7 inches. If they are less concerned with overall size then I can see 6 inches, but the result will be a larger handset.
ANd I have to disagree about one handed use on the Note 2. Maybe if you have a massive paw it's possible. But I'd venture to say that for the majority of the population, the device is mostly used two handed.

I had the chance to play with the Mega 6.3, last Friday and I wouldn't mind if the NOTE III comes with a 6.3" screen(FHD ofc!). Taking into account what Samsung did with the GSIV, it might even be smaller than the Mega. l had no problem to fit the latter in my pocket though. But yes, you need 2 hands to operate the phablet.

if you need 2 hands it's impractical as a phone.
just get a damn small tablet, it's already the size you'll be wanting your phablet to be next year...

Plus It better be equipped with a SD800

It will be, and you know what's the best thing is about it? For roughly 3 times the CPU/GPU performance, that SoC might use less power than the Note II's, so a 20% battery increase could bring 40% more battery life, I mean just look how the S4 improved despite the more pixels and MHzs.

What makes you so sure? All Note 2 variants contained an Exynos chip & since Samsung already stated that the reason they used a Snapdragon in most S4s is because they couldn't produce enough of the former, I'm willing to believe the Note 3 will contain an Octa.

I hope so but I wouldn't mind the S800.

I actually would like it a little bigger.

Okay but, just so you know, I usually don't take it from complete strangers.

I just want samsung to make a note that would still be comfortable in the pockets regardless of the screen size
14. wando77 (Posts: 726; Member since: 23 Aug 2012)
Gs4 was thinner, smaller and lighter with a bigger screen and bigger battery. Here's hoping the same for the note 3
15. twens (Posts: 905; Member since: 25 Feb 2012)
Thinking about this Fon gets me wet. It's not just the hardware that drives me crazy but the note software is just so complete. My note 2 feels like a pocket mini laptop. Does any and everything I can think of. Android is so awesome

Makes perfect sense as the Galaxy Mega range are the ones that will have +5.8inch displays.
This also makes sense in terms of Samsung's target market, the Note is already niche and going with a +6inch display could push away even those who didn't mind a 5.5inch display.

Still loving my Note 2. So much so, the it's rare I use my tablet. I don't see wanting the Note 3 if it's only 0.2 larger than the Note 2. Maybe with the combined thinner & larger?
However, a mightery battery would be noteworthy (sorry for the pun!)

Good ... time to buy NOTE 2 when NOTE 3 releases. No carrier subsidy here so have to be SMART with our money :)

Will the intel i5 finally eliminate lag completely and make android be as smooth as ios?

Not good enough, was holding out for a screen size of a minimum of6 inches to max of 6.3 inches. I still don't buy this story from evleaks who hasn't a perfect track record and go by what JK Shin told us what we already knew. The screen size is 5.99 which in Samsung terms means 6 inches. Unless Samsung makes two versions of the note 3, a 5.7 inch base model with a maximum of 64GB of memory and a more expensive version @ 6.3 inches with a maximum of 128/256GB of memory, I'm thinking that 6.3 inch prototype definitely wasn't the Mega 6.3 as that Phablet has already been unveiled.

I prefer 6.3" and FRONT-facing (stereo) SPEAKERS. (and loud)

that's a good size. i got my dad a Note II yesterday and it's perfect for him.
