id say winners would be..
note 2 or lumia 920 in smartphone category...
asha 302 in feature phone.. and
tablet would be nexus 7!

+1
Nexus 7 is unbeatable in the 7" tab category.

Why L920???
It was met with so-so reviews.
Nowhere near the universal acclaim that the S3, Note 2 or iPhone 5 were met with.
And I'm just stating a fact here.
Experts were far from blown away by this phone.
Even the Nexus 4 was met with much more praise.
Considering the overall picture my vote goes to Nexus 4

After a rather unscientific empirical survey - I see S3 and Note 2 all over the place. I see lots of iPhone and I know that some are v5, but I don't take the time to count rows so I have no feel for real numbers. Thanks to the botched launch Nexus 4 handsets are few and far between. And as far as the L920 goes - to date I've yet to see a single WP device in the field (SoCal USA), let alone anything from Nokia.
I'm personally partial to the N4, but given the sheer numbers, I'd have to give it up to one of the Samsung devices.

"there is even one Windows Phone handset" ?!?
like they weren't allowed to participate... PA just loves windows phones...

I'm surprised that imangi studio is fighting with instagram, facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, as best consumer apps @.@ shocking!!!
21. cezarepc posted on 04 Feb 2013, 07:30 1 0
Yup. Considering they are made up of a small team and not backed up by some giant studio, they're doing extremely well.

And the winners are:- Iphone 5- Asha 305- Nexus 7.

Doubt IPhone 5 wins... doesn’t innovate in any aspect and definitely is not the best smartphone.
31. b1acktiger posted on 04 Feb 2013, 11:19 0 0
they found a 4" display in iPhone 5 ! thats an innovation ! hell yeah Panorama shoot too !! :D

For replacing glass with aluminum and stretching the phone out of proportion?
29. simplyj posted on 04 Feb 2013, 10:22 0 1
Isn't the phone now a 16:9 proportion? So that would be a correct proportion. The one before was ridiculous!

The winner for smart phones will definitely be gs 3.
For tablets it's btw the iPad, Kindle & Nexus 7 (Not sure about this category)
Nokia's Asha's for feature phone category.
12. Berzerk000 posted on 04 Feb 2013, 06:35 8 7
GS3 or Note II
Asha 305
Obviously one of the iPad's are going to win, and they're going to write it off on "app selection and interface fluidity" or something; but I personally think the Transformer Pad Infinity or the Nexus 7 should win. The Infinity for best overall or the Nexus 7 for best value.
Apple's quality to value ratios are way too far from each other to win any awards, but they will anyways.

my brother bought a note 2 a few days ago, since he still using his lumia 710. I had the chance to explore and play with it for a whole day, the performance is really good I didnt notice a lag at all, plus the diff. type of hand gesture such as screenshot, unlock phone etc is great, camera is also good, download almost of all top free games. But it didnt take my desire for the lumia 920! I will still buy lumia 920 when it comes to the philippines.
16. maccess posted on 04 Feb 2013, 07:11 3 6
it's between s3 or ip5 i think... maybe note2.. no chance for dna or lumia 920 i'm pretty sure...

Best smartphone , galaxy note 2 and Droid DNA but the nexus 4 is the best value for money.
Best tablet ipad 4, I would pick the nexus 10 but the ipad 4 runs the games better with full effects. My personal favourite is the ipad mini though.

best phone, S III,
best feature phone, Nokia Asha 305

(although i own Note 10.1...)

The One X was the first Quad-Core smartphone on the market. I think they should both be nominees.
22. Edmund posted on 04 Feb 2013, 07:44 7 4
I think the Lumia 920 will win best smartphone. Great handset packed with innovative features, all at a reasonable price.
24. giosoliman posted on 04 Feb 2013, 07:47 1 1
ah the Samsung Galaxy SII. The phone that dominated it all back in 2011(fact)-half of 2012(debatable). May the best phone win this year.
25. windroid posted on 04 Feb 2013, 08:29 0 0
If there's already an SIII, it doesn't make sense to nominate the SII. It's not about the phone that has sold most, but be BEST phone of 2012, and one have to admit SIII is better than SII.
26. piyath posted on 04 Feb 2013, 09:26 2 2
Best smartphone will be Galaxy S3
Best Tablet will be Nexus 7
Best feature phone ???

Can someone please tell me why on earth does a phone with a dual core 1Ghz processor, 1GB of Ram, a 4" non-HD screen with an 8MP camera running a non-customizable OS considered a nominee for best smartphone?
40. darac posted on 04 Feb 2013, 18:05 0 0
That dual core makes it plenty fast, and the GPU inside is superior btw.
It doesn't need more ram.
That 4 '' screen has the best color gamut and contrast values among all LCD phone units.
And it is big enough for a normal smartphone usage.
That 8mp camera produces one of the best photos among the bunch.
Your points?
32. akki20892 posted on 04 Feb 2013, 12:33 0 1
Best Smartphone: Nokia Lumia 920 because this is truly Innovative Smartphone.
Guys don't think what OS with this phone, but think that phone got Innovative Features. it's about "Best Smartphone" not best smartphone with OS.

Knowing my luck, it'll be the iPhone 5 (just because Apple designed it and sells it), the Asha 305 (because it is an all-touchscreen feature phone pretending to be like an iPhone for poor people like me, but it doesn't have US 3G so it isn't worth me buying one, after all), and the iPad mini (because Apple made the amazing iPad even smaller... somehow).
Not that I would personally agree with them... I would personally pick the Note II (for the phablet capabilities that put it ahead of the crowd), the Asha 302 (for just being a nice, cool device which still has the traditional QWERTY and some business-savvy... and supports US 3G bands), and the Amazon Kindle Fire HD (for finally putting a dent in iPad market share).

I'm surprised the nexus ten isn't here, great screen and latest os

No Xperia S. Shame on you... ^o^
In reality Note 2, Asha and Nexus 7 should be the winners.

I believe SGS III and Nokia Lumia 920 will fight for the best smartphone award and Nexus 7 with iPad Retina Display for best tablet award.
