First Hop, Ltd. has launched the First Hop GPRS AcceleratorTM 1.1. to transparently accelerate mobile access to enterprise applications such as e-mail, synchronised MS Exchange applications and file retrieval via FTP (File Transfer Protocol). The product offers VPN support, TCP optimisation for office applications such as SAP, and flexible deployment. It also allows users to browse the Internet with a high quality of service (QoS) in a user-friendly, convenient format. This First Hop GPRS Accelerator 1.1. server-only version provides an average acceleration ratio of 3, while the client-server version offers a ratio of 5-6, with the best case approaching 10. "We believe that the GPRS market will be dominated by business usage for some time to come.
