For the third time, Clove sells out inventory of the Nokia Lumia 920 before it arrives at the store

The Nokia Lumia 920 may yet turn out to be the Windows Phone 8 device that makes the platform a real challenger to iOS and Android in the same manner that the Motorola DROID kick started Android in 2009; for the third time, U.K. retailer Clove sold out of the Nokia Lumia 920 before the inventory arrived at the store and backordered units will start shipping as soon as this coming Monday...

why hate the windows OS. i think it's nice to have more OS to choose. i understand you love android. both android and windows has their own nice feature.

No1 hates WP, more choices is better.
But the truth is WP is not as good as Android, and MS lacks creativity.
what Android fans want is MS should do better job with WP and not use smear campaigns to compete.
121. Altair (Posts: 254; Member since: 02 Feb 2012)
What are you talking about? You dont know anything about creativity.
Android has been made using iPhone and Windows design and style. Mr. Steve Jobs knew everything about this nd declared his famous words:
"I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong," Jobs said. "I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this."
WP8 is the only innovative, fresh and new os in market. The rest are just the same they have been for years.
Go and learn before making such stupid comments.
127. MeoCao (unregistered)
that's your comment is stupid man, what innovation WP8 has?
Every1 knows Jobs stole multitouch technologies and patented them, those patents are now being invalidated by USPTO.
Everything about Android is innovative: The level of customizability of widgets, interactive Notification Center, Google Now, intuitive implementation of multitasking...

you deluded fanboy
''Everything about Android is innovative: The level of customizability of widgets, interactive Notification Center, Google Now, intuitive implementation of multitasking...''
you serious? you think widgets are an android innovation? multitasking too? seriously just stop your so one sided and now sound a right idiot
132. MeoCao (unregistered)
My litle friend, innovation does not stop once something new is invented. Google did not invent widget but it did great job making widgets as useful and beautiful as it is today. Same thing about multitasking and many other things.

I disagree 100%. Not only is it worthy it's an amazing setup. Say what you want but it didn't take WP six iterations to get their OS smooth.. Googles lack of polishing their products is evident with almost all their products. WP is fresh and new while Android is stagnant and boring, very MySpace like... We all know what happened to MySpace when something fresh came along. Further more you are very troll like with you "need" to bash WP in every area that their is a topic on them.
20. dmakun (Posts: 114; Member since: 06 Jun 2011)
You're not acting any better than he is seeing as you're bashing android yourself. I disagree with your opinion of android OS cos I use it & I'd rather you contributed by discrediting his views about WP & in doing so help people like me "see" what's superb about WP & the Lumia 920
Actually I haven't "seen" nokia's lumia phones yet.
22. putyongka (Posts: 36; Member since: 08 Jan 2013)
I totally agree with you. Android is like indeed Myspace of mobile OS. Remembered how users mess the pages with garbage stuff to the point of thinking they look cool but then lag.
24. speckledapple (Posts: 873; Member since: 29 Sep 2011)
somehow I think that contrast is a bit off. MySpace died because although it gave choice the way they implemented it was horrible. Facebook succeeds now because it has at least allowed some choice while allowing the one thing that has become major, sharing.
Android exists in a perfect state of choice that allows users to do as they please but at least in a controlled environment. iOS has a very controlled environment that dictates everything. WP remains much in the middle between the two.
104. -box- (Posts: 3470; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
I'd say Android is like MySpace, WP somewhat like early Facebook (when it was college-only), and ios is like AOL circa 1997.
13. pookiewood (Posts: 357; Member since: 05 Mar 2012)
This is the Android version right? Doesn't it NEED Android to be successful?
16. papss (Posts: 2181; Member since: 03 Sep 2012)
No it most certainly doesn't need Android to be successful.

I've course it does sales are lagging slow pace, shops had only 12 l920 in stock just because all 12 sold they make a hype all over the world saying its selling well. What a big lie!
62. papss (Posts: 2181; Member since: 03 Sep 2012)
Keep saying that and maybe You will believe it
105. -box- (Posts: 3470; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
I dunno, 12 per store per shipment is pretty good numbers. There's some stores that only sell 1 or 2 of a particular model per month, even new ones.
17. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2346; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
lol according to fanboys yes
in the real world with people who can make there own mind up its doing well
18. lumia920 (Posts: 101; Member since: 27 Nov 2012)
no. lumia doesn't need laggy android... wp8 the most fluid os is enough. why go for less?
28. TROLL_IS_AHA (banned) (Posts: 10; Member since: 11 Jan 2013)
Still half cooked and very limited handsets available only 2 phones, that surely shows how wp8 that no one is intrestead even Verizon sprint and tmobile dosen't want that scrap rubbish!
31. lumia920 (Posts: 101; Member since: 27 Nov 2012)
t mobile and verizon will get wp... nokia doesn't like sprint due to some unknown reason. sprint will also get wp but not nokia wp....

Yea what a joke in you're dreams they will keep dreaming ! They don't like wp only AT&T they Nokia and MS WP had to beg to sell there scrap even MS begged Nokia to just contract 5 years with MS how cheap and low can you go!!!!!!
40. lumia920 (Posts: 101; Member since: 27 Nov 2012)
don't try to be a fortune teller... let see what happens... those all carrier will beg nokia to launch their flagship.. and give them exclusivity.

53. Bernoulli (Posts: 1178; Member since: 01 Sep 2012)
First, I work with t-mobile and when I try to offer the variant of the Nokia 820 (810) I get bashed at from the customer and my Co workers, they say that phone isn't even going to sell, and I agree. Second, MeeGo is the most fluid os yet, the n9 had only one processor and one ghz of memory and that alone was enough to make it run several apps at the same time, you can think of it as a Galaxy note II on steroids but without the quad core, and no offense but the windows os is so confusive, you have to jump hurdles to turn the wifi on and off, and the browser doesn't support flash, when I tried to retrieve a document from my Gmail I couldn't, perhaps if the mail is synced then I would but other than that you can't get the attachment, don't get me wrong the concept of the phone is fantastic, but it needs a year or two more in development, a symbian phone is probably more developed than this.
63. papss (Posts: 2181; Member since: 03 Sep 2012)
Don't be butt hurt that tmobile can't get flagship phones until they've been out on other carriers first
76. Bernoulli (Posts: 1178; Member since: 01 Sep 2012)
You're retarded, we are a gsm carrier, do you know what that means? Anyone can use whatever device they want, it's not my fault you have to depend on carrier subsidy, and I'm not bashing nokia, I love nokia they're truly amazing, I just don't like the windows ecosystem
80. asseek (Posts: 164; Member since: 12 Sep 2012)
i agree with everything u've said, unlike what everyone on here thinks I am, am not a WP fan, but not against it, but i wish Nokia kept their MeeGo OS, and Symbian along with WP, or at least, instead of the crappy S40 used in Asha Series, they use the Symbian Nokia Belle OS
106. -box- (Posts: 3470; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
Um, verizon sells the Lumia 822, a WP8 phone, and sprint sold one or two previously, and has announced it well sell more soon. It put too much into the iphones and has to bide its time before putting much into a new line. That and all the other crazy stuff they're going through.
23. speckledapple (Posts: 873; Member since: 29 Sep 2011)
I like this article as it really does hit at the core for one of the reasons why Android grew to be so amazing. Windows Phone is one awesome OS and I think it would really add to the fray between Android, iOS, and now BB10. More competition is better and one can only hope for the continued success of the platform right behind Nokia. I just hope the other manufactuers get on the ball to create some awesome devices for Windows Phone so it continues.

37. cse.vicky (Posts: 46; Member since: 10 Dec 2010)
Let all Platforms exist ! But what i as a customer needs is absolutely less fragmentation on hardware level as well as software level.
Each Year every hardware-software joint venture should come up with only 3 phones high, medium and low range phones. Only 3 per year and they should support their phones for 3 years - on time software updates !
I think then we can have a very healthy eco-system of technology, its a win for both consumers and companies !

Alan.F are you a American? I've seen Ray.S and John.V speak on You-Tube they talk and have another ascent, Nick.T and Micheal.Heller do they have a State ascent?

There's lots of buzz among consumers about Lumia 920. On every chat app i go you hear people talking about Windows Phone 8 and Nokia Lumia 920. I heard more females talking about Lumia than male, but this is a good sign.
43. tashreef (Posts: 474; Member since: 24 Nov 2012)
"I heard more females talking about Lumia than male"
Any how good for nokia....
46. putyongka (Posts: 36; Member since: 08 Jan 2013)
Don't forget about gays. I've lots of friends in the gaybar who are so gaga talking about 920's magnificence and specially the colors that match their taste. :)
48. lumia920 (Posts: 101; Member since: 27 Nov 2012)
you are jealous of lumia colours... hahhaha
67. papss (Posts: 2181; Member since: 03 Sep 2012)
No he's just not man enough to handle a colored phone other than black or white

"I've lots of friends in the gaybar"
guess who can have 'a lot of friends' in the 'gayber' !?!? :D

So Windows fans were talking crap about the LG Nexus being out of stock everywhere and now because this Lumia is out of stock, now this is glorified?
Im not bashing either phone, because theyre both great.
Im bashing the dumb moronic biased people.
Some of the comments Im reading are completely stupid, false, and biased.
For example, the person that said Android is stale. WTF? Isnt it the only OS that constantly changes what it looks like almost once a year? Let me quote that "ONLY". Windows might still too new to change at a little over a year. Cmon people really? Thumbs up for a comment like that. Wow.
Froyo, Gingerbread, ICS, Jelly Bean all looked different and I have owned all of these OS in around 2-3 years! Your comments are stale and actually find REAL problems instead of just pointing out things that dont exist and trying to prove your point because youre biased toward your OS.
55. erdpov (Posts: 67; Member since: 07 Dec 2012)
Lumia lovers, how dare you to say that your so called superb phone with so called the greatest camera will kill such a powerful system like Android. Your phone is fast, but Samsung will rip your phone off. Galaxy s4 is coming. It's just matter of time. Samsung and Android will fit a big long nail into wp 8's coffin.
65. mgignon278 (Posts: 5; Member since: 08 Jan 2013)
And so is the next Lumia coming with more stunning PureView technology and in a thin-body form factor. Samsung will be remembered only for it's TV, ref and washing machine. Nokia is still the king in phone innovation.
77. Bernoulli (Posts: 1178; Member since: 01 Sep 2012)
Um no offense, but as long as the windows os isn't developed like Android OS is, I really doubt anyone would want a windows mobile, I love nokia just not their widows platform
66. lumia920 (Posts: 101; Member since: 27 Nov 2012)
lumia 950 will be there to handle s4 don't worry about that
68. papss (Posts: 2181; Member since: 03 Sep 2012)
You can have your Sammy phone with certainty that it will look cheaply made and toy like feel
70. lumia920 (Posts: 101; Member since: 27 Nov 2012)
SS and quality are two words does not fit in one sentence.
71. NokiaFTW (Posts: 140; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
What if Samsung trolls us with a great & premium designed Galaxy S4 ?!?
90. erdpov (Posts: 67; Member since: 07 Dec 2012)
I don't even have a Samsung phone, but I used to have a few phones from Sammy, my last phone by Nokia was N8. I liked it not so much, but I have to admit camera was really awesome as well build quality. The design was good, better than n97, but still worse than some phones. When Nokia dropped its Symbian, which was far more functional than wp8, it was the moment that made me to accept Android. I realized that Android is Symbian's son. And papa Nokia kicked his own son out of house. Google was so smart to adopt it's best qualities and make this awesome powerhouse named Android full of great features. Even Symbian makes wp8 look like outdated piece of software.
Dear Windows phone lovers instead of bashing Android better ask your beloved Ballmer to work harder to build os which will be a real competitor.
74. cripton805 (Posts: 746; Member since: 18 Mar 2012)
Isnt the GS3 already more powerful than the Nokia Lumia 920?
Oh wait, yes it is.
Not saying the 920 is a bad phone, but W/e.
79. papss (Posts: 2181; Member since: 03 Sep 2012)
No it's not more powerful... Your OS requires more because google it sh it with polishing anything.. Find me something that says its faster
82. cripton805 (Posts: 746; Member since: 18 Mar 2012)
It has the SAME processor in the US and more Ram.
Same RAM outside of the US except a Quad core.
Its right here on PHONEARENA. GS3 is more powerful in ANY country.
Android required more because you can run more at once... Ugh. People really need to research more before posting stupid things.
100. Bappy (Posts: 25; Member since: 29 Oct 2012)
"It has the SAME processor in the US and more Ram."
is that the reason s4 lags and crashes more than lumia920?? :D
110. cripton805 (Posts: 746; Member since: 18 Mar 2012)
The S4 isnt out yet and my S3 hasnt even crashed even once. I think you need to lay off the candy.
I can also control my window animations to how fast I want them. So, if I want my windows to look smoother or faster I can do it.
Windows is currently limiting the phone manufacturers from releasing anything high spec because the OS doesn't support it.
Also, the GS3 is like 7 months old and the 920 is still lower spec. Even if it is just RAM.
113. tashreef (Posts: 474; Member since: 24 Nov 2012)
Really from which angle?
Because GS 3 has (Quad-core)?
Specs are almost same..But Android is Power Sucker(that's why Quad-core)
and WP 8 is a optimizer(Dual-core is more than enough) ....and when it's comes to Camera quality.......nothing stands in front of 920.......
124. cripton805 (Posts: 746; Member since: 18 Mar 2012)
How many times do I have to repeat myself. Android is running more at once. More animations, live wallpapers, transitions, etc...
There is the option to turn things off, theres also the option to choose the speed of everything through developer options. What part of that dont you understand. Im giving you a clear explanation.
Dual core is NOT more than enough. What is this optimizer false fantasy of yours? The S4 dusl core RUNS fine and even less powerful processors on their respective version of Android. Windows currently doesnt support high end specs. Also, what part of this DONT you understand.????????????
Simply put, THE GALAXY S3 IS THE MORE POWERFUL PHONE.
