no controversy...you want the phone...you pay the bux....its a simple concept...expect this from 75% of devices on verizon & at&t by this time next year....the extra $10 to go from select to connect aint killin no one...

yeah, unless you are on a family plan with smart phone and a dumb phone... once the dumb phone gets upgraded to this "new and better" plan (ha, what a joke) chaulk on an additional $40... thanks for that Verizon... idiots.

Exactly. If you think about it, why would you buy a phone that has an HTML web browser if you aren't going to use it? VZW is not the first company to require a data package on a "dumb phone". If you want this phone, or really a lot of the future phones, you have to pay for the services on it.

right now there are only 2 new phones that have keyboards that dont have html web browsing. so basically if you dont need html internet but want a keyboard you have two phones to choose from. Having a data plan on smart phones makes sense to me. But requiring a data plan on a lot of these feature phones is overkill. some people really just want a phone to talk and text on, and we are really only giving them one or 2 options when this plan goes into effect.

So you're complaining about paying the 30 dollars for the smartphone, and suddenly 10 bucks more that allows you to actually do stuff on the phone is ridiculous? if you cant afford the 40, get rid of your smartphone and get yourself a lg5500 and be happy that you got a phone that does exactly all your willing to pay for....make calls. They arent making you pick that phone, nor did they make you get your smartphone. Maybe you use it for work, and work makes you? so make work reimburse you. I have a blackberry and pay 30 bucks because i like all the shit i can do on it. 10 more bucks, .33 cents a day, and you can browse the web, facebook or whatever you want.

Whoa! It's like watching the Blair Witch project all over again! Sweet phone though can't wait to get my hands on it. Screw Verizon and screw their lame data plans!

I believe this phone will launch on the 8th. I just spoke to a best buy rep and they have a dummy rogue on display. He said they have them in stock and it will be out next week.

A preliminary price sheet that PhoneArena posted a few weeks ago had the phone listed at $370. $99.99 with a $10/mo data plan seems like they have fairly generously subsidized the cost of the phone with the plan. But still, there will probably be some resistance to mandatory data plans.
