First camera samples from the Lumia 925 outed by Nokia
0. phoneArena 14 May 2013, 06:47 posted on
Nokia's Lumia 925 sporting a PureView Phase 2 camera with optical image stabilization, coupled with a cool new Smart Camera app is all fine and dandy, but how about some samples? The Finns have uploaded a few photos from their newest and slimmest flagship, which demonstrate what the camera is capable of, allegedly straight from the phone, though likely taken by a pro who knows what they are doing, so your results may vary...

For professional DSLR photos, they are average.
4. xperiaDROID (Posts: 5404; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
I'm not a professional guy, I'm a normal guy, a normal guy who loves smartphones, so I will use the normal rating!
So, my rating is : Not bad! :)
9. _Bone_ (Posts: 2126; Member since: 29 Oct 2012)
I guess you missed the pun. Nokia is known for taking it's samples with professional DSLRs.
11. xperiaDROID (Posts: 5404; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
I didn't missed the pun. I understand what you're saying, professional DSLR is a Digital Single-Lens Reflex camera right?
I'm just saying that I'm not a professional guy, so my rate is basic, so it's not bad.
15. pwnarena (Posts: 888; Member since: 15 Feb 2013)
i think what _bone means is "sarcasm" not pun. remember nokia was put in an awkward situation when it was discovered that the promo pics they released to tout the lumia 920 camera were actually taken by a DSLR.
17. SleepingOz (unregistered)
Nokia used to fake their promotional camera samples by taking them with DSLRs and claiming that they were taken by their devices.(Remember the L920?)
Seems like they did fake this one as well.. LMAO!
19. juandante (Posts: 301; Member since: 23 Apr 2013)
Man that can't be, it's must be a joke LOL, so anyone at Nokia's marketing service didn't see the flaws on those pictures before releasing it to 10.000 press websites ?
Man there is something witch is strange with Nokia. I tell you.

"Man there is something witch is strange with Nokia. I tell you."
Man, you didn't see the flaw in your post before releasing it to 10,000 fanboys or other readers?
22. bon24x7 (Posts: 205; Member since: 30 Aug 2012)
did they say anywhere it was taken by Nokia 920 in the ad..? too bad if you got confused. the video was used to show some of its features. all OEMs make such videos..grow up dude..
27. SleepingOz (unregistered)
Yeah right, keep lying to yourself dude..
33. xperiaDROID (Posts: 5404; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
Of course I remember the L920 ad.
I hope they're not cheating us again.
18. bon24x7 (Posts: 205; Member since: 30 Aug 2012)
if the sample is taken using a nokia phone they state that at the bottom..do you have atleast even one valid example where the sample was taken using a DSLR and they said it was taken using a Nokia..
24. SleepingOz (unregistered)
So why did they use these photos for the promotion of the L920 then? And why did they apologize if they've done nothing in the first place?
28. bon24x7 (Posts: 205; Member since: 30 Aug 2012)
They apologised because the ad mislead the ones that saw it. It wasnt intentional and they apologised. And since then they started showing 'shot/taken by lumia/nokia' at the bottom of ads so that such confusions wont happen again..
31. SleepingOz (unregistered)
That's actually my point, why did they demonstrate L920's OIS using a DSLR camera instead of the product they're promoting itself?!
34. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
sad fact you cant accept is the 920 then proved itself validating what it can do
you keep living in the past, move on
and on a related note i never saw you say a word when samsung advertised one of there phones to have a flash which it didnt ....thats real misleading actually its complete lies from a company
you just like to slate nokia we see this, you never criticise samsung for the same thing
53. SleepingOz (unregistered)
"sad fact you cant accept is the 920 then proved itself validating what it can do"
True, but still not as good as demonstrated in the ad using the DSLR!
I'm pretty sure it was a careless mistake from Samsung Taiwan's marketing department. How can you purposely advertise something that you know people will obviously notice it's not there, at first glance?!
And no, I was just explaining _Bone_'s comment to xperiaDROID. But it seems like nokia did it again. The first picture has definitely been edited. =]
36. Nathan_ingx (Posts: 3011; Member since: 07 Mar 2012)
You guys take one wrong step that happened in the past and make it a big issue. Like hell came down to burn you if you don't mention it or make fun of it.
So what if the marketing strategy didn't make the headlines like it's supposed to. Atleast, appreciate things if it's good...jezz, you people are so hard to deal with.
54. moroninc (Posts: 178; Member since: 14 Jul 2012)
true, but you really think they would try that stunt again?... the good folks here at PA is bound to get their hands on one and do a camera comparison... then what ? ... no i dont think they would do it again.

5. juandante (Posts: 301; Member since: 23 Apr 2013)
Why Nokia pay for Microsoft's incompetence ? Nokia's CEO is blind ?
16. pwnarena (Posts: 888; Member since: 15 Feb 2013)
no. he's just too loyal to his previous employer.
6. pwnarena (Posts: 888; Member since: 15 Feb 2013)
these are definitely great photos. still, i wish the lumia was on android. also, hopefully these photos were really taken by the lumia 925. not the same camera promo blunder they had with the L920.
12. xperiaDROID (Posts: 5404; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
Nokia can make an Android Lumia, if Elop wants to.
But Elop chose to go with Windows Phone, so we can't do anything about it. But Elop made a right choice to go with Windows Phone.
13. juandante (Posts: 301; Member since: 23 Apr 2013)
He made I right choice because in may 2013 Nokia's new phones still must have an hardware of 2012 ?

i thought she was on a magic carpet flying
38. Nathan_ingx (Posts: 3011; Member since: 07 Mar 2012)
Me too man!
The more i try to figure it out, the more i get confused! Actually a nice one.
8. hipnotika (Posts: 298; Member since: 06 Mar 2013)
i looked at full res. version of photos on nokia.com.
its not perfect.
but i think htc one still is the best at night shots.
and day shots lumia 925 is not good as galaxy s4
64. Bilpocalypse (Posts: 301; Member since: 13 Oct 2012)
At my store, we actually tested the Lumia 920 and the HTC One in low light situations. While the HTC was fantastic, the Lumia did better. Just wait until Nokia gets the adjustable aperture tech in their camera phones, then day shots will be just as good.
10. hipnotika (Posts: 298; Member since: 06 Mar 2013)
and first photo edited look at the boy's short's rope and the hole between the legs. :) poor nokia :)))
20. dexter_jdr (Posts: 1139; Member since: 28 Jun 2012)
say what? they used the app in the first photo. the new app that blurs stuff
23. bon24x7 (Posts: 205; Member since: 30 Aug 2012)
stop being a troll..the picture is an app edited one..they demonstrated it..not the original one..so it'll have its flaws..duh..
25. jlp34876 (Posts: 79; Member since: 02 Dec 2012)
i assume it was shot using Nokia Smart Camera app which you can edit which frame do you want to select and applying motion blurs. Or maybe im wrong.
14. boosook (Posts: 992; Member since: 19 Nov 2012)
After the fake 920 photos released by Nokia, that had been shot in a photographic set, and the fake movie, which had been taken with a professional camera, I don't believe them anymore. When the phone is released, we'll check the pictures taken by independent reviewer in the real world, not these post-processed studio shots.
35. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
so your saying when a company lies you cant trust them, well you must not trust any company. samsung shamelessly lied in one of there ads for a phone saying it had a flash which it didnt..
besides your forgeting the fact the promo vid using a dslr was never said to be taken with the 920...then when the 920 proved it could do what they claimed you trolling sad acts went quiet
go repeat your bs somewhere else
44. boosook (Posts: 992; Member since: 19 Nov 2012)
Am I trolling? Or maybe it's you who lost your memory? So let me recall you that the fake video was discovered only because someone noticed the reflexion of the professional camera in a window. And this is what Nokia said afterwards:
“In an effort to demonstrate the benefits of optical image stabilization (which eliminates blurry images and improves pictures shot in low light conditions), we produced a video that simulates what we will be able to deliver with OIS. Of course, hindsight is 20/20, but we should have posted a disclaimer stating this was a representation of OIS only. This was not shot with a Lumia 920. At least, not yet. We apologize for the confusion we created”
Remember now? If that's not enough:
Not to mention the low light pictures: do you remember how it went? They posted some pictures of a girl, taken outoor at night, in a square of some Finnish city. Unfortunately, someone took and posted some pictures of the photo set and so we discovered that the pictures were taken with a professional lighting equipment, and not with the natural light as they wanted us to believe. And I call this fake as well.

dont waste your energy, chaotic is the biggest troll yelling troll here, he only spread some BS, and when people stating facts, he/she/it will try to cover it with another BS.
47. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
ohh look whos back the child that says lots of words without imparting anything of value
theres your facts muppet, samsung was done for false advertising yet none of you fanboys mention it
nokia apologised for the video even though they never said it was filmed with a 920.
you fanboys are tragic, so how about you go suck up to your fellow fanboys elswhere
49. boosook (Posts: 992; Member since: 19 Nov 2012)
who cares about samsung? we were talking about Nokia faking photos and videos. Samsung does it as well? Who cares. I never buy Samsung stuff.
50. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
ohh so its ok for samsung to do, no one can ever mention that but nokia needs idiots like you living in the past everytime they bring a new device out
and the fact the 920 proved itself and lived up to there claims shows your just been a hateful little fanboy, you could say the bs you said if the 920 was proven to not do what they said but as ive said before the 920 proved itself
so you and your fellow haters should move on
51. BillyG (Posts: 305; Member since: 24 Sep 2012)
see, now you bring samesung to cover for your nokia... they both deserve to be fined (sadly nokia was fast with apologizing so no one can fine them), samesung is also the king of copyandpaste, they should be fined more.
so theres no point in defending and covering it. its clear, nokia is a fake and samsung is even worse. get it?
55. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
nokia is a fake.........even though they prove over and over there claims were fact. samsung been copycats has nothing to do with this so know who's going off topic
facts are the 920 proved itself yet you idiots try to use that agency advert to discredit an entire company. did the advert say filmed with 920 .....no it didnt did nokia apologize for the shambles yes they did
did the 920 live up to the claims yes it did....you dont understand that do you kid
you should stop your trolling, go play elsewhere i know you want attention but im done playing its like talking with a chimp
65. ecmedic4 (Posts: 198; Member since: 02 May 2013)
Dont forget samsung admitted to paying ppl to troll HTC articles and bash the HTC One. And for the ppl that i know will say it was just samsung taiwan, that samsung upper echelon had no knowledge is nonsense.

Samsung and HtC please update your features because i have a little interest on Windows
32. pyradark (Posts: 768; Member since: 10 Jun 2012)
Great Job Nokia!!
Now Its time for Sony, this will be great, the two company who loves competing on each other way back 2004-7 for camera phone is totally back. This is how company should competing, not suing nor bashing and stealing ideas!!

52. freebee269 (Posts: 521; Member since: 10 Aug 2012)
"dont be silly and hating" yet every time you post on a nokia/windows article it is full of hating. a contradicting troll has already defeated itself. bad troll is bad.
45. Whateverman (Posts: 3198; Member since: 17 May 2009)
I like that Nokia is pushing the envelop when it comes to smartphone cameras. It's making everyone else step their game up. Mix in some of the GS4's features or the UI, a little of that UltraPixle magic and Zoe from the HTC One, and top it with KLP... And I would be a Nokia fanboy all over again.
48. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
i disagree on the ui, wp8 has its own unique ui which doesnt follow android or ios which gives choice. as for features its true wp8 needs some more featuresa. it has all the essential just needs some special ones if not abit gimmicky to get peoples attention
as for the KLP part im going to ignore it, bored of the android nokia stuff now
60. Whateverman (Posts: 3198; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Lol, good! Because the KLP on a Nokia is just my dream, not a diss to WP8. Just a "would be nice" kinda thing. And nothing wrong with WP8 UI either, in fact I like it. Just not as much as the one found on the GS4. Some of it really is gimmick, but as the saying goes "It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it".
61. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
loving the meaningless thumbs lol
back to the subjest i agree with what you say, but just wish many on here would stop the bs that wp8 cant compete each has there advantages and disadvantages
gs4 as a example its all round a good phone no one can deny but samsung are getting abit comfortable just upping the specs and afew shiny features
as for ui id take HTC sense 5 over samsungs touchwiz (just my opinion)
