First benchmarks of the Juggernaut Alpha Windows Phone 8 handset show a 50% performance boost
0. phoneArena 23 Jul 2012, 08:52 posted on
Juggernaut Alpha scored 151 points, leaving the Titan II with its 1.4GHz processor in the dust. Now, granted this is a dual-core handset most likely, as Windows Phone 8 brings support for multicore chipsets, but the benchmark comes to show that there will really be an improvement in performance over the current generation of Windows Phone Mango handsets...

performance wise windows phone 8 > android, because they know how to optimize hardware at its 100 percent better than android.

That's because WP has a very high minimum frequency hence the high battery usage. WP sucks when it comes to optimization and relies on higher frequency and constant CPU usage.

what are you talking about?
"WP sucks when it comes to optimization and relies on higher frequency and constant CPU usage."
you're kidding right? WP RELIES ON HIGHER FREQUENCY(clockspeed)? WP refreshes its OS to be optimized with higher frequency not because it relies on that.. It's because it's what people wants. Look at WP7 devices. Look at lumia 610.. THOSE devices don't rely on higher clockspeed. They work smoothly even in low specs. That's how smooth WP is. Remember this, WP8 was the answer for the people craving for higher end devices in WP ecosystem. They don't really rely on higher frequency.
and the thing you said about constant CPU usage? EVERY PHONE USES ITS CPU ALL THE TIME. SERIOUSLY. YOUR PHONE WON'T RUN WITHOUT A CONSTANT CPU USAGE.

I'm still stuck on the lumia 800 (wp 7.5) that had a worse performance browser-wise than the nexus s (2010), did I miss something?
Sunspider test, lower is better
Nexus S (2010) - 6054
Lumia 800 (2012) - 6752

Aren't those numbers a little high?
I could have sworn that Nexus S scores better than 6k with updated webkit browsers included in each iteration of Android OS

seems u have no idea what u said WP can be optimized without extra app it has builtin feature to utilize batteries more then android

No, the only thing Windows beats Android on is keeping their phones undated. Google needed to have better control over that aspect of their ecosystem. Jelly Bean > WP8

we shall see about WP8
WP7 was smooth in the same way iPhone was smooth.
Limiting the key factor that Android thrives at. Hardware choices and multitasking
This is also the same reason why WinMo suffered from much criticism it received because it was very similar to how android works right now(i actually liked winmo)

well android has only one thing you can brag on home screem customization and after a while no one bother the screen customization
28. ph00ny (Posts: 1244; Member since: 26 May 2011)
What about custom apps that can really boost specific device performance (artificial amps like Voodoo Louder/Sound)?
Ability to create a true backup of the device?
Android has quite a few things to brag about and i don't really consider home screen as one of them but since you listed it in your post, i will add it in there as well.

why wouldnt it be...
Windows is half-baked OS
unlike Android a full Linux OS

its not a full os. apps dont run at background. thats
why its so smooth.

As for optimization,
Considering the fact that dual core listed above is the S4 variant, and the single core has always been the S3/2 variant, performance gap should be bigger.

This looks pretty nice. Can't wait to play with the official release of WP8 on a PureView Lumia!

Dual Core v/s Single Core.
This was expected.

Android users not comfortable with what they have so they troll WP news and thumbs down what people say who don't use android...Welcome to PhoneArena
15. Whateverman (Posts: 3269; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Some of you WP fans are getting just as bad as ios fanboys. There are a lot of true tech fans here who want to see them all succeed. Look at post numbers 2 and 3, then talk about Android users trolling. I'm sure you'll agree the thumbing down was more about the negative comments on Android where it wasn't needed.
37. Penny (Posts: 1652; Member since: 04 Feb 2011)
I'm not so sure anyone would agree with that Whateverman. You would have to be ignoring an awful lot of neutral comments that are getting thumbed down on pretty much every WP article to make that statement.
That's not to say there aren't some irrational/obnoxious WP fans as well. Can't really avoid it. But still, not nearly as bad in my opinion.
40. Whateverman (Posts: 3269; Member since: 17 May 2009)
There are always perfectly rational comments getting thumbed down, but the new trend around here lately has been to point at the Android users. Why can't it simply be a case of that person, no matter what their preferred OS may be, simply thinks WP isn't up to par yet. But people are so quick to thumb you down based on your phone, they don't take time to listen to what you are saying. I just want to see more debating. Tell us why you think this OS or that OS is great, and less crying about other OS users commenting on your OS articles. Aren't we all techies here? Don't we all love all tech? And if so, we should be able to give a real opinion and even give a thumbs down if we don't agree without someone trying to make everyone chose sides.

I'm very anxious. Looking forward to a WP8 phone that makes me swap my G Note

No we don't... Restricted outdated low specs.
Symbian user's are migrating to Android, cause
of closed eco-system....
