About 10 weeks time separates us from the official launch of BlackBerry 10 OS. RIM's newest platform will be presented on January 30, 2013, along with the first two smartphones that will run it. One of the handsets in question will be a full-touch device, while the other will be a typical 'Berry, with a portrait QWERTY keyboard under its screen...

what about non geeks, they make up more of the market then geeks
besides if quad core isnt needed it wont become standard, right now its just bragging right and not been used to its fullest

Yep, it's like having a ferrari to go to work around the corner, it's just too much.
Dual-Cores is the standard, they should make duals since their devices wont require much power (I believe).
Anyway, they should keep up with the competition, they should make business AND casual/geek/whatever phones.
business phones who doesn't require much camera mp, should be like 3.2mp with lower screen resolution and casual/geek/whatever phones, should have at least 8mp with 1080p screen resolution. Something like that.

It has a quad core, it uses the Snapdragon S4 Pro. And the screen resolution is still fine, 1280x768 on a 4.5 inch display, that's over 300ppi!
I still rock a 1366x768 display 18.5" monitor on my desktop computer.

its bad enough that they waited so long to get BB OS upgraded but not were going to release new phones a month after annoucements??? I think this is where Apple does best, announce and next day release new phones. It should be the standard!!

that's bad planning, they should release the phones while they're announcing the phones.

Indeed, why wait further when you have announced the devices... Kinda disappointing.

My bet is that RIM is expecting real world results that require fixes and firmware updates. No matter how good the rollout, there always some problems. Releasing BB10 in small doses allows for them to fix problems in small doses. If there is a "soft start" for a few weeks followed by a massive launch, that is okay. If they are talking gradual over months, then there will be further evidence that RIM just does not understand how to compete anymore.

I am really looking forward to this! Specifically a QWERTY device. Everything is touchscreen these days, and there are still some, including myself, very loyal to the QWERTY and enjoy it much more. Best wishes to RIM and I am excited to see the N series in the "flesh".
