February 20th launch for the Nokia Icon?

Thanks to a number of delays, there is now a big pent-up demand for the Nokia Icon, a Windows Phone exclusive for Verizon. With the same high-end specs that you'd find on the Samsung Galaxy S4, and a 5 inch screen to boot, Nokia has a phone that can challenge the current crop of high end Android handsets. Back in December, we told you that Verizon's desire to deal with just Microsoft in discussing marketing of the device, had delayed the launch until February...

Nice phone, too bad it's on the greediest carrier.
Because of that, it's an "easy pass"...
On a side note, I wonder how many "Verizon" logos they can jam all over this thing...terrible.

Wait for 1820. This is an international version and next nokia's flagship. 928 is just for Verizon as a high end.

Yeah it would be nice, I have a 1020 and another column would be sweet..

They are great.. It really brings everything to the top of the start screen, and leads to much less scrolling... This is the way WP should've been from the beginning... The OS really has come a long way... Can't wait for 8.1-1xxxx

When last I looked, the S4 doesn't have a Snapdragon 800.
Also, when last I looked, Theoden, not Aragorn, was king of Rohan.

Actually, GS4 4G+ edition does have Snapdragon 800. I'm not sure if it's sold everywhere, but at least here in Finland.

That wasn't written to say there was a 100% match between the two phones. I inserted the word "roughly" to indicate this. The point is that both are high end models and for the first time, Windows Phone is playing on a level playing field with Android.

The sentiment is appreciated, but I can imagine a few WP fans that take offense to this: on paper, the Icon thoroughly beats the S4, so to merely say they're roughly the same is an insult. A more apt opponent would be the G2, Xperia Z1(S), or Nexus 5.

Too bad it's coming fairly same time with GS5. Even if it comes before it, it's very soon forgotten when everybody is talking about GS5. And it's Verizon only.

This is gonna be a great device... Great hardware, and great software, on the largest carrier in the US... It's about time..
Very nice option for consumers..

The fate of this device will be that of the 928...a failure.

I think you may be right, but mostly because it took them too long to market. Been waiting for this phone for 3 months at least, but I may be jumping ship to ATT anyway, so it's now moot for me.

To bad Verizon chose this 929 to be the exclusive phone for the U.S. It is the best of all Nokia Windows Phones and it had to go to the crappest U.S. carrier. Cannot believe it! Now I am going to look for something else.

You're wrong on the choice of yo g version sat back and waited on this acquisition between Nokia and MS to finalize there deal before pursuing the rights to this phone. Please get your facts straight before making such remarks. Also your reporting is. Bit late as this was known two days ago of the Feb 20th release date. The quality of reporting has gone down hill tremendously on this site, maybe you guys would be better off sticking to reporting actual on hand facts as you hold the device instead of spreading and reporting false claims.

Not a fan of Nokia Lumia phones. Had a 920 and a 925... both had overheating problems and the 925 would lose signal as soon as you pick it up. Windows app selection is just abysmal. I'll stick with my Mi-3 and MIUI, thank you.
