February 17th launch for Motorola XOOM at Best Buy for $699

The first Honeycomb device to reach the market, Motorola will have some time with Android 3.0 all to itself before other Honeycomb flavored tablets get launched. So if you want to own a tablet with Google's Android OS optimized for a tablet, the XOOM will be the only game in town for a while.
As we reported yesterday, a leak of internal Verizon documents revealed a $799.99 minimum advertised price for the tablet from the carrier until July 21st.

I hope this is true. I've been waiting for a true competitor the iPad before I jump into the tablet market.

I just hope they release the wifi only version at the same price as the iPad. a 499 tablet is more apealing than a 699 one. I would hate to have to go with the iPad over an android device but on a budget i will take what I can afford. (will not go with the galaxy tab when the thing still isn't even running gingerbread)

see the 32 right after where it says honeycomb in the picture? well that might mean 32GB, and if im right there is a motorola XOOM that has 16GB or 8GB, so maybe the $699 price is for the 32GB XOOM!!!

I certainly hope they offer a version that is wifi only with less memory for the 499.99 price point to compete head to head with the iPad. If they do I will deffinetely get a Xoom over the iPad any day of the week.

So no contract 699. That would probably mean a 1yr agreement price between 549 an 599? Then a 2yr price between 449 and 499? Just a guess based on if how they typically price their phones.
