Fake versions of many Google apps arrive in the Windows Phone Store
0. phoneArena 28 Mar 2014, 10:19 posted on
There are a good number of Windows Phone users who are eager to finally get the news that Google is going to start investing resources in the platform and bring official apps. Unfortunately, that also means that there are a good number of users who could be a target for scams using fake versions of Google apps, like the ones we have seen hit the Windows Phone Store recently...

You know if Microsoft allows apps like that on their store. Then this just says a lot about Microsoft.
11. sprockkets (Posts: 1608; Member since: 16 Jan 2012)
Would be funny if those apps stole information too.
Somebody bothered to infect the windows store and show how MS doesn't curate worth a damn. That'll be fun.

You mean the you tube they created that was better? Google wished it know how to code like m$
89. sprockkets (Posts: 1608; Member since: 16 Jan 2012)
Why is it better? Cause it worked probably just like the youtube one on android, but with less features.

SAD part of owning an android phone is that it never gets updated to the latest version. Consumers have to wait for a long period of time to get updates and not all android phones get updates. Those old android handsets owner have to buy new phones every-time. Whereas Apple owners (iPhone 4, 2010) still runs iOS 7.1 damn good and everytime it gives the old phone a new life. Does Samsung Galaxy S gets Android 4.4? Oh not really....
12. DigitalJedi_X2 (banned) (Posts: 346; Member since: 30 Jan 2012)
Android phones do get updates. Older models, which may not have enough memory, wouldn't be able to support all updates. That's why they wouldn't get updates. Phones with 1gb of RAM wouldn't be able to support 4.1 and on. But if you really had an Android device, you would know this.
No, you're just some ass clown troll looking to get fed.
And try installing iOS 7.1 on a 3gs and see how far it gets. Lmao!!

U create a joke here by talking about android system updates tell me how many mid range models updated with kitkat? Tell me 2012 xperia models cant be updated to kk? Why? Low end galaxy never receives upgrades. Htc one x nevers sees kk, why? Android+system updates= big joke
and talk here about unofficial ports
because if you talk i think you cant understand the meaning between official and unofficial.
18. sprockkets (Posts: 1608; Member since: 16 Jan 2012)
HTC can't update the one x+ due to nvidia, and didn't think it would be great then to just update the one x. One S also has no more support from qualcomm.
Sony is updating the xperia z
Moto X Updated to KK
Moto G updated to KK
Moto models from 2012 will get 4.4 as well.
Troll harder next time mofo

No one cares, theres still custom roms and kernels which third party DEVS will contine to support
laughing that wp and ios does not have any of this....

What is this?? Troll Friday?? You guys are popping out of the woodwork!
For all of those Android handsets that can't be updated officially due to memory constraints or chipsets not being supported, there's always custom roms. And if you don't know how to do one yourself, there are numerous people out there who can do it for them for very little money. And several of them even offer free after support. So our non point is just that, a non point.
Troll detected! Troll destroyed!

I really laughed at your comment• so tell me how many customs roms(fully stable) are created officially for low and mid end? They also just create ut for flagships. I already told you explaing fandroids is a time wastage

Much like explaining things to Windows Phags and iZombies.
You're a tough little troll. You just won't die, will you? Begone back under your bridge!

66. willard12 (Posts: 1339; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
So, because Apple updates their devices, all models can perform the functions of the new OS? Can the iphone 4 run Siri after the updates to ios 6 and 7. Updates in "name only" just make followers feel better about themselves. If the phone can't use any features if the update, what's the point?
84. sprockkets (Posts: 1608; Member since: 16 Jan 2012)
You asked and I smacked you down. Stop changing the goal posts and claiming victory. Oh wait, you are a fcking troll.
By the way, that iphone 4 or 3GS didn't get all of ios7's features or 6, more like only a fraction of them, so BFD. And both of them shouldn't been updated because people complained about how crappy it runs it.
But bleep, it runs ios7!

First, create a nickname that doesn't scream "Troll Detected"
Second, read the first line...

Explaing android fanboys is just a waste of time because they just see user count better we stick with our os(wp and ios)
24. kalloud (Posts: 146; Member since: 21 Jun 2012)
Does iPhone 4 get ios7? Oh not really
On one hand, the iPhone 4 doesn't get all the features of iOS7, on the other hand, does the iPhone 4 perform with iOS7 as it did with iOS 4 that launched with it? In fact, Apple updates its older iphones so that they become choppy and laggy in order to have you buy the newest iPhone. I'm sure the iPhone 5s with its 64bit processor will struggle with iOS10 in 3/4 years.
50. lagdroid (banned) (Posts: 15; Member since: 28 Mar 2014)
I agreed with you but android upgrades are too slow and buggy more than ios 7.1 in iphone 4 and providing nothing is better than providing something and ios 7.1 is smoother than ios 7 in iphone 4
85. sprockkets (Posts: 1608; Member since: 16 Jan 2012)
Only person who is slow and buggy is you.
29. taz89 (Posts: 2014; Member since: 03 May 2011)
So you go from Android phones never gets updated to Android updates take long time to only some Android phone gets updated. About the iPhone 4 it runs no where as good as it did on ios 4/5/6. Also when older ios devices gets updated, it might get the new looks but not all the features.. About Android updates, most of the core Android apps are now updated via the play store and play services.. Example when apple updates it's maps or keyboard it has to do it through a major os update, Android can do it via the play store.. Apple had to to a full os update to add game centre, Android did the same via play services.. With Android it doesn't always matter what version you are on as most of its new features are all done via the play store

Oh, come on… first of all, iOS7.1 can be compared to something between android 2.3 and 4.1 (it has some features from 4.1, yet it still lacks important features that are in android since version 2), so an updated iphone still cannot do what a 2-year old android does.
Next, the iphone should be compared with the Nexus line, which is made directly by Google, and where phones do get updated.
91. fireblade (Posts: 716; Member since: 27 Dec 2013)
hello, iPhone 3GS?
or update and become laggy (iPhone 4 & 4s)???
92. jroc74 (Posts: 5726; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
"Whereas Apple owners (iPhone 4, 2010) still runs iOS 7.1 damn good"
I knew to stop reading your post at "an Android phone never gets updated to the latest version" but what I quoted above says it all...
I take it Nexus devices arent Android phones....and they are not limited to developers either.
116. jroc74 (Posts: 5726; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
To add to that.....unless it cant due to hardware and maybe support from the OEM...Android phones outside of Nexus phones get updated to the latest version.
Support from Apple may be better than most Android OEMs....but lets get rid of the hyperbole.
10. CX3NT3_713 (Posts: 2096; Member since: 18 Apr 2011)
Lol .. And like the Android market, doesn't have fake apps....
13. DigitalJedi_X2 (banned) (Posts: 346; Member since: 30 Jan 2012)
All app stores have fake apps. Kind of the point of the article.
Also, for a company like M$ who loves to blast Android about not being so secure, but has fake apps in its market, is quite ironic. Guess WP isn't as secure as they'd like us to believe.
37. papss (unregistered)
No its pretty secure but I had a good laugh at you with that one
39. DigitalJedi_X2 (banned) (Posts: 346; Member since: 30 Jan 2012)
Oh look! Another troll!
And its quite obvious that it isn't all that secure.
43. papss (unregistered)
Wait.. You come to a WP article to spew tour form if intelligence and I'm the troll? Right.. Pathetic
53. DigitalJedi_X2 (banned) (Posts: 346; Member since: 30 Jan 2012)
Nah. I came here to read the article. Then saw all the Windows Phagboys getting up in arms because someone wrote an article clowning their pathetic iOS wannabe OS. And dragging Android in it to boot. You WP boys came and trolled your own article. Pathetic.
55. papss (unregistered)
Right.. Look how many of you commented first.. You must have your google goggles on as usual
46. lagdroid (banned) (Posts: 15; Member since: 28 Mar 2014)
Buddy the big troll here is you
bashing about laggy android
explaining you is a wastage of time
and for your info sundar pichai said 'android is not designed for security'
so do some homework then scream here

@ sgodsell, I'm sure anything MS does yourself and a select few will always be naysayers.

I bought the Nokia Lumia 1520 (the glossy red version) to experiment with Windows Phone as matter of curiosity; and what a gorgeous piece of kit it is, sexier than a Ferrari. But whereas the hardware is absolutely superb, the software sucks big time. Non of the many reviews I read about Windows Phone prepared me for this terrible os from Microsoft. And now you are telling us about Microsoft adding insult to injury with this rather upsetting story, although I don't actually care an awful lot about apps (they are all crap anyway). But hey ... that Nokia hardware is very cool, very sexy and worth every penny.
109. magnum44 (unregistered)
Ok you got me there ... it was an early April fool ... silly old me I just couldn't wait ... sorry ... no big deal.
Actually what I really really have is the Lumia 1820 (Aztec Gold colour) with WP 9.99 pre-installed.
20. magnum44 (unregistered)
Based on my first experience with WP through the Nokia Lumia 1520, I can see now why it is a very distant 3rd os. The browser alone is an archaic rubbish compared with the swift elegance of Chrome.
27. elitewolverine (Posts: 4103; Member since: 28 Oct 2013)
you do know up until kitkat the IE in wp was superior in support for html5 and css3. But you would know that right?
I would wager that you may have a 1520, but it sounds funny if you did. I would hardly doubt not only would you not use all of WP features, that if given a droid you wouldnt know what it could do half the time either. Of course the internet is just that the internet. Would you like to meet my pet unicorn?
33. magnum44 (unregistered)
Yes indeed I would ... to donated my beloved 1520 ... but don't wager too much html5geekcss3

All wp haters and android die heard fans stop shouting after seeing wp 8.1 in action with lumia 1520

awkward button placement? Limited bookmarks?
What are you referring to?
