Fake "Apple" apps appeared in Google Play Store

0. phoneArena 17 Nov 2012, 21:26 posted on

Six apps in the Google Play Store, said to be from "Apple Inc."were actually fakes even though they were"priced" the same as the legit apps in the App Store; the fake apps included the incorrectly written "Garage Band"...

I wish Apple would put GarageBand on Android and sell MicroUSB adapters for it or for Google to do something like GarageBand...
I'd seriously love to record my guitar with no background noise on my phone or tablet, but I guess PC will do for now.

Google needs better quality control. This shouldn't have been accepted at all.

why? because what he is "secretly" saying is...."See I told you google is no good" or " See Google doesnt know how to do anything good" ......and all other negative things.....Thats why you shouldnt support that until there is a sense of "sincerity" coming from him .....how will you know when? well you know if someone is yelling at you or if someone is glad to speak with you, do you not?

Google will only get better if people critic them .
So there is no need to defending google to the death . But i agree with him in this case Google does need better quality control .

Well , he is always gonna hate google anyway . Just that in this post he stated the right thing .

Its pretty obvious that this guy is just a troll , i dont think we should argue about him . Peace

Put down your phone/tablet/pc. Go outside, take a breath, see some friends, kiss your misses, have a bbq. Idk. Just do something other than study what some random person you dont know who really shouldnt matter posts about on a phone site.

I got a boat load of red thumbs one time just for basically telling him nice post... lol

Control is necessary, like removing all apps containing the word "memory", or everything has similar feature with an Apple's app like Siri even existing before on Apple Store.

Not sure what you're talking about. Quality control is excellent, even better than Apple's. It was removed very quickly especially considering the amount of apps available... quality control is different than having a closed and restricted environment (despite this, Apple has even more percentage of malware). Check out the other article and you'll see how great their quality control is:

I agreed with you. as a long time android fan, i have to admit that google playstore is bad in quality in terms of apps. Look at the amount of 3-1 starred rated apps they have in there.

iOS' apps store have better quality apps. And Apple did a good quality control over that.

If some of you immature android fans dislike this comment, it goes to show that you cannot accept the strengths and weaknesses of any other products besides google's.

Dont agree totally about quality. Even tho I think iOS apps look and function better in some cases. E Trade app was one that was better on iOS. Thats one case and I dont think its bad on Android. Its just that on iOS its better. I will say for some apps that are on both Android and iOS....on Android I would call them good, iOS better.

Like E Trade....they looked the same, but was better functionality wise on iOS. Another example....speedtest.net app looked better on iOS....but functions about the same on both Android and iOS. And it looking better doesnt mean it looked like someone drew it in crayon on Android...lol.

I do agree 100% with that last sentence tho.

The said thing is.....most ppl probably would be fooled by this. A fav iOS app or one they hear alot about all of a sudden on Android? Most of us would know any app by Apple wouldn't be on Android.

I can seriously see my kids mother being fooled by this. And she might represent the average user of smartphones. When she first got her iPhone4, she couldnt find BlueTooth settings and thought she had to download an app. I had to search online to find out where it was...I knew Apple wouldnt be that crazy to leave it out. We were both used to it being in Network and Wireless settings on Android and Win Mo. We took different paths to find the solution...

Correction....thats a different app store policy for ya. You think for a minute if iOS or WP was as open it wouldnt have the same problems?

Agree, it could be better, but they chose this open policy. Gotta take the good with the bad. Question is...how long did it stay? Is it still there? Thanks to the users, community it was reported to Google.

It's amazing how fast the wind direction changes here. A few articles about Android market security get posted and everyone is on board with it. An article about fake Apple apps in the Android market and even die hards are complaining about Google needing to do a better job. If the title of this article would have been "Google super fast at killing fake Apple apps," all this whining would have been cheers instead. It's not new that a handful, especially in this case, of apps get submitted but it's always been Google's response to delete them as soon as they are brought to their attention. Why else do you think Google put the "report" button in each app. This is not the problem people are making it out to be, and unless you want a walled garden approach, wake up and see Google does have protocols in place to correct issues like this, even as far as deleting the app from your phone in worse case scenarios. Google is not asleep at the wheel here.
