Fitness and health tracking is quickly becoming big business, and everyone wants to be in the game. Many of the big players (Google, Apple, Microsoft) have relatively easy ways into the market because they run mobile operating systems that either connect to wearables or will (eventually) power wearables. Facebook doesn't have that luxury...

I am not sure about this new direction companies are taking, I, for one, have the Jawbone UP, and already got bored of it in less than two months...wearable health trackers just don't click for me, if you want to be healthy, you don't need trackers to do so

it's not really for you. It's for people whose hobby and/or career depends on being extremely fit and healthy.
