Facebook gets touch friendly new homepage
With touch screen phones becoming more prevalent, it looks like more web sites are optimizing their sites for mobile use. There's no surprise with how touch screen enabled devices offers users an easier way of navigating. Facebook in particular has just launched a new homepage for those who are accessing it on a touch screen phone as opposed to downloading a dedicated app. Devices like the iPhone and HTC Hero are getting the new fitted look that enables users to use a tabbed system to access their home page, profile, friends, and inbox. Not all platforms are getting the special treatment right now; specifically WebOS, Palm OS, and S60 – but you can still access it via the specific link. So if you don't want to busy yourself with having to download their app for your specific platform, then this might make for a tolerable substitution.

I have used the facebook touch site, its okay, but didn't seem to wanna work on my Verizon Samsung Rogue. I had to switch back to the original mobile site to be actually be able to access any part of facebook. Not sure if it was my phone or the site, but didn't seem to work for me.Great looking site tho, especially on the amazing AMOLED display!!! Absolutely loving it!

I'm not sure if I read the post correctly or not, but the new touch.facebook site has worked since last week by default when I go to facebook.com from my Pre.

This site is pretty slow when it comes to news. touch.facebook.com has been around for months as x.facebook.com. Pre used it as default since day one of its release.

This info late & partly wrong. I have been using this as default facebook for 2 weeks now on my 5800 thats S60. Furthermore its much more than tolerable its actually pretty good, u can access all the features of the pc facebook (including commenting, liking, youtube videos, notifications....etc) except the facbook videos & games which requires a better flash player. All it needs is a back button, that is a problem.

the touch screen site is pretty decent on my enV touch, i just happened to notice it about a week ago. while not the best possible upgrade for fb, its quite decent i think.
