FCC clears the Microsoft Lumia 650; new photo of a prototype emerges
We've already shown you renders that allegedly belong to the Microsoft Lumia 650. There is speculation that this will be the last Lumia to sport a 5-inch display. No less an authority than Microsoft CMO Chris Capossela said in an interview last month that the Lumia 650 is on the way, which is why there really isn't much of a surprise in telling you that the FCC has certified the handset.
While there are reportedly two versions of the phone, it was model number RM-1152 that visited the FCC. This is the single SIM model as the RM-1154 has a dual SIM slot. The Microsoft Lumia 650 features a 720 x 1280 resolution on the aforementioned 5-inch screen, and is equipped with a Snapdragon 210 chipset under the hood.
The device comes with 1GB of RAM, a microSD slot and a 2000mAh battery. The camera combo from back to front weighs in at 8MP/5MP, and the Lumia 650 does support 4G LTE connectivity. Microsoft spruced up the design of the handset by putting a metallic band around the phone, which allows it to crash the zip codes of more expensive units.
There was talk that the Lumia 650 would see the light of day during the current quarter, either during CES or MWC. Considering that there seems to be no sign of the device in Vegas (although it could be hiding out in the casinos), MWC seems to be a good bet. So for now, circle February 22nd on your calendar. That is the date that the expo kicks off in Barcelona.
