Last month we told you about "Eye." This is a case for the Apple iPhone that includes a separate Android phone on the back. At the time, the accessory had raised $97,000 on Kickstarter surpassing its goal of $95,000. It's nearly a month later, and Eye has raised over $650,000 with the funding period coming to a halt tomorrow. This means that the product is going to be produced, and smartphone fanatics can now have a main course of iOS with Android on the side.

The Android screen on the back of the case is a 5-inch AMOLED panel carrying a 1080 x 1920 FHD resolution. Powering the Android device is a Helio P20 chipset from MediaTek (the MT6757 to be precise) containing an octa-core CPU and a Mali-T880 MP2 900MHz GPU. There is 3GB of RAM inside along with 16GB of native storage. There even is a 256GB capacity microSD slot available for those times when you just have to come up with additional storage. Dual SIM slots are included and there is support for NFC. Android 7.1 is pre-installed. And perhaps the most important feature of all; the "Eye" comes with a 3.5mm earphone jack!

Because there is a plastic overhang that juts out in front of the glass, if the phone falls the glass should not be affected. And the Eye case supports wireless charging. We would be amiss if we didn't mention that the product is delivered in a round clamshell box that opens up and becomes a stand for your phone.

The 2800mAh battery on the case will charge your iPhone while you use the Android phone. Also, with the extra screen, you will find yourself using the iPhone less often extending the battery life of the device. No matter how much you use the Android phone, the iPhone battery will not be negatively affected. Speaking about the battery, the developers have added an accessory to the case that jacks up the battery from 2800mAh to 10,000mAh. This will allow the case to be used as a powerbank. This was done to meet a promise made by the developers that kicked in once more than $500,000 for the product was raised.

The Eye will work with the Apple iPhone 6, Apple iPhone 6 Plus, Apple iPhone 6s, Apple iPhone 6s Plus, Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus. It also will reportedly work with the next iPhone release one month after its release. And the developers promise two years support for Android updates.

The retail price will be $189 for Eye. Adding $59 to $248 will hike internal storage from 16GB to 64GB. Those who funded the project are expected to have their Eye shipped in September, so that is when we could see it offered to consumers. If you love your iPhone, but find that there are times you catch yourself thinking that an Android device would be great for a specific situation, this is the product for you.
