Earlier today a handful of images were leaked, but now the floodgates have opened. The device is now said to come with a larger 4.5" qHD screen (up from 4.3") and will run on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. There will also be a new version of BLUR with a 3D look to it, but still only 5 home screens.

wow 4.5 inch display very nice.

Looks like the rumors are true. 4.5 is the new standard for large displays.

4.5" would just be to big. I think 4.3" might be a touch to big too, depending on the bezel size.

I think that it's more like a 4.7-5in screen considering it looks like this device is next to the Atrix.

that's not the Atrix, it's the 3.7" Defy.

It's not like there isnt enough phones with 4.3 inch displays out there.

Samsung Hercules and the HTC Holiday are all rumored to have 4.5 inch displays with dual core processors so it's only expected Motorola should have competition for them.

I am really glad they canned the original droid bionic. This thing is a beast, I was thinking of getting the Samsung Infuse, but if Samsung does not release a 4.5 inch dual core phone soon, I will be picking this bad boy up.

I do see where you're coming from and it does make sense that they went this way. As long as they keep the thickness down I think it'll be a win. Hoping the lte radio doesn't add too much bulk. the reason why the infuse fits so nice in the hand is because it's so thin.

I agree, judging by the LTE phones of Verizon I fear it won't be razor thin. I mean even the Samsung Droid Charge is a pretty thick device.

I have to agree with you. I always use a case on my belt, and also have my phones in a high gloss TPU style cover with a screen protector, and the case i need on my belt at this point for like the charge, thunderbolt and revolution is one that is used for a GPS unit. they really are getting far too big. making me want an iPhone!

Does anyone know why the Defy has a different lockscreen from the usual? Or is it an app or something?

I think the phone next to the Bionic is actually the T-Mobile Motorola Defy with 3.7 inch screen. It looks too small to be the Atrix.

Hi,

I know this could possibly yield a lot of angry/rude replies to what I'm going to ask but just out of blind curiosity, could this maybe be the Motorola Photon 4G that's supposed to be announced by Sprint on Saturday?

It looks pretty obvious that that is a droid branded device but I was just curious

You are aware that it is a Droid branded device. That should have answered your question by itself.

How lame, I think 4.5 is too big, The difference between 4.3 and 4.5 is really noticeable. I think I'd rather get the Samsung S II if i have to wait towards the end of the summer for the top phone.

Have you ever used the Samsung Infuse? The display is gorgeous and plenty of room to watch youtube and browse the web. Yet the phone itself is nearly the SAME height as the Motorola Droid X which is 4.3. It's just the Infuse doesnt have as much wasted space and is wider.

the phone itself is probably not that much bigger, the screen probably just uses more real estate and as for the Galaxy S II it probably won't have LTE where as this will have a Dual-Core and LTE. win-win.

Yea I used the Samsung Infuse for a few days before returning it. I would have kept it but I am locked into a contract with Verizon currently.

Anyway, I compared the phone side by side with my Droid X. It is literally the same height, just the screen itself is larger and wider.

People automatically freak out and assume whenever they hear 4.3, 4.5 that the phone is going to be WAY too big.
I mean The Thunderbolt is only a little taller than the iphone yet the screen is nearly an inch larger.

if it's "just as good" why is it a good thing you got two Revolutions?
actually "crapsung" as you called em was the first to use a 4.5" screen on an Android Phone.

Smalltank, I guess you didn't read my previous posts on here. The Samsung Infuse 4G on AT&T that came out in May has a 4.5 Super Amoled Plus display. It's currently one of the thinnest and has the largest screen on a smartphone in the US. NOT counting the Dell Streak because it's technically a tablet.
