Well, I don't think so.
Winners compared to Lumia 900 yes, but against galaxy and iphone sales, it can't win.
I put a bet that even the Note 2 will sell much more than Lumia 920.
Who's on?

Entire Lumia sales were 7 million in 8 months while galaxy s III alone sold 10 million in 2months. The only reason to buy new lumia is because of its camera. But still €600 is very high...As usual Nokia pricing strategy...after one year, lumia 920 will be available for €300 or even less. Remember N98. My friend bought it for $700 and after an year or so, the price was $320

It also sold 20 millions in 100 days.
Three times better than S2, in comparison

LESS SALES WONT MAKE A PHONE BAD!!!

True, but a bad phone certainly won't sell as many units as a good phone. I think the consensus is that the OG Lumias were underwhelming compared to their competition in either the Android or iOS segments.

i think i wont put a thumb on you!

however, i think if the pricing is true, the 920 wont sell hot like s3 did... maybe that time samsung will cut down the price of s3...

20 euros difference is still big!! and the "ecosystem" matters and WP8 will still catch up on android...

so if they will again do the strategy of lumia 900 to US market it will sure boom!!! even they a lot of us think that WP is really as good as android.. consumers might not like it coz its pricy..so cheaper attempt will be a good strategy...

Nokia can't win Samsung with all in-house components, Samsung can make a new phone in 2 months it will take Nokia 6 months to look for components, assemble and test.

by November, we'll be starting to get hyped up for the next Nexus along with the release of the Note 2 and may be a new HTC flagship with competition cramped by the IPhone 5 and other manufacturers like LG and Moto. i don't see a bright future for the Lumia sorry.

That's because the Lumia is not an established brand name like the iPhone/Galaxy S (s2,s3 and so on) line and WP is yet to catch up with people. The 920 is a topnotch phone yes, but I'll agree with you on the sales not matching up on the next iPhone/Note 2/S3 and so on. But I'll buy one because that's a great phone.

I'm not talking rocket science here. Why are you guys so concern of lumia 920 announcing too early.... the number of cores....and other specs.... you commented on this article itself cause you guys are interested... Remember android wasn't popular. I quote "Android has no future", "I don't think is gonna make it". This happens in a cycle. Unbelievers, believers and people just don't give a damn. Why do you guys keep comparing specs with Android quad core phones. WP8 isn't like android phones that requires so many cores just to run smoothly. What happen to engineering factor and efficiency. It seems you guys are not thinking about the efficiency and engineering put on the WP8. You are comparing a car with large engine that produce so little horsepower to a car with smaller engine but produce twice as much power and much more energy efficient. It's not about the cores in the device ... is how device handle that power and optimize for efficiency to make it more reliable and more economical.

I believe It needs to be prized lower than the SGS3/HTC oneX for it to have a chance to have decent sales, I ain't saying it's a bad phone or it's price wont do justice for a phone of its caliber (coz it does) but for a phone line that is still poorly accepted globally they should price it competitively, IMHO.

The Lumia900 went from $99 to free in a matter of months in the states.
Design is simply not as important as ecosystem! All models of the iPhone have looked nearly identical since it launched, but people still clamor over the new model.
Don't charge $758 for the 32gig model if the iPhone is $699 for its 64gig model...
Don't release a 41MP camera on a dying OS and then tantalize that the next Lumia will be similar (when it's absolutely not)...
Don't release an 8MP camera (btw, you've had the N8 for years) when this year's iPhone is likely to have a higher MP count and some kind of newer (or flashier) gimmick than floating lens...
Don't announce something BEFORE the iPhone announcement (with no carrier deals and only speculative pricing) and launch it AFTER the iPhone launch...
Don't release a dual core phones 6 months after quad core phones were announced and, yet, charge the same price for lesser technology...
Don't make excuses for why clean design denies memory card slots...
Don't build up the awesomeness of 'floating lens PureView technology' and then mention that 'oh, btw, the other model we've announced today doesn't have it'...
Don't announce a phone and then wait 3 months to release it...
THE MASSES WHO BUY PHONES ARE NOT THE PEOPLE WHO READ THESE POSTS AND COMMENT HERE!!!
THEY ARE NOT COMPARING GIMMICKS AND SPECS; THEY ARE COMPARING NUMBERS!
They're checking to see who has the higher MegaPixel, sure, but they really wanna know who has the same number of apps that their friends have, who has the best price number for what you get, who has a higher number of "new" ideas (like iCloud and iSiri for example), and who has the same number of things I've come to expect on devices (because I've seen so many in the stores).
How many times can Nokia get punched in the stomach before it gets the message?

i know right!! it should be lower than those devices!!!

coz what if s3 and oneX cut down the price on christmas? do you think people will buy a smartphone with an OS that still play catch up in terms of ecosystems?!

consumers follow the trend... so nokia should market 920/820 or any other lumia devices that they are prepping in right!

s3 selling point is its quad core and a lot of goodies that most of the people will be satisfied like expandable memory, removable battery, slim, huge screen, bold and bright!

while 920 is a very compact and stylish yet very heavy (but i dont care, i like heavy phones coz i think its very sturdy and knowing nokia, it is sturdy coz 900 is really sturdy, the son of 3310) and no expandable memory and removable battery (no removable battery is ok but still hoping to have expandable memory or choices of memory like the iPhone and s3--it has 16/32/64) but the greatest camera on a WP yet....

but 820 should be sold at pricepoint lower than $450!!!

and hope nokia should announce a lower mid range... i hope they announce that nokia "zeal"... i think its a very good phone for people who like cheaper but compact!

Windows phone fans are kind of creepy.
They were the same when Lumia 900 was releasing with wp 7.5
Just thumbing down on all that were saying anything against it, and rationally
predicted a massive flop, considering the price and the marketing campaign.

For my own opinion, 600 euros is okay. It's a flagship device, just like S3 and iPhone 4s.

If converted in Philippine peso(i'm from philippines)

600 euros is roughly 32,000Php. And I think it comes for 32GB.

A 32GB s3 here in the philippines is around 37,000Php

While a 32GB 4s is about 40,000Php.

So this shows that a 32GB lumia 920 is reasonable. IMO.

trus story...but we are talking about a brand that will re enter US and euopean market that is crowed by android royalties and the iPhone and an OS that will still catch up to the ecosystem wars because these people cant just jump to another boat coz they spend a lot already on their phone's ecosystem... to us maybe its reasonable (pinoy din to!) but to these big market, its not... thats the very reason that lumia 900 was sold at $99 2-year contract (but now it was cut down to $49) coz they need to re enter these big markets and the OS will still grow..

yes the ecosystem will be big this year coz WP8 and win8 now has the same kernel... and windows has a vast of developers, so they will maybe develop their apps and made available to the WP8..

so nokia need to market it again like they did to lumia 900... especially that they make an aweful controversy that they fake the stills and media are talking about that.. its a bad advertisment to nokia even though it was proven that the camera is really good!! so its nokia's lost if they will market these lumia like android royalties and the iPhone... because again they are not as hot in these market as they should be!!!

if they want lumia to sell hot like s3/iPhone they need to do the marketing right!!

and these comment will also apply to RIM strategy to BB10.. they need to market the upcoming device right!! mass market but killer specs are the best...

kinda like that nokia is making 4" lumia's now...even on low end, it will be a 4" dual core.. the rumored nokia "Zeal" and "flame" are 4.3" and 4" respectively with 8gh and 4gb of memory and 1ghz dual core!!

Kabayan, true but by Christmas time weeks after the 920's release, we could expect the SGS3's price will be cut down to maybe 29k or lower, Im'm solely basing this on what happened to their 2 previous flagships.

True that the 920 should be priced at that price range or even higher if technology is to be the basis. But for some reason most people who will be choosing a based on the specs and good feedback from previous experiences. As for Nokia on Windows8 they're still in for a big gamble. I still believe that if they price it lower than their Android Flagship counterpart they have a bigger chance of having a decent sales, esp here in the philippines werein windows phone is virtually unknown.

Something I don't get when talking about the 920 that I find to so cool but no speaks of is that awesome video editing where you can speed someone up and the put someone else on a loop to make fun videos. Why isnt this being talked about? This to me is one of the reasons that I would buy this phone.

True. I love Samsung/Sony/HTC. Every one in consumer electornics/phone market copies/steals ideas and improves on them including apple so no big deal ... Good no one patented the round wheel ... all TV's look the same and yet no one goes about suing others ... as long as the plastic phone is lighter on pocket and offers much more than what the "non plastic" phone offers it's ok ... phones aren't meant to last forever as it is :)

Only chance I see for Nokia is to pump the latest hardware, more megapixels(pureview), bigger HD screen and then sell it for lesser price then S III or iphone.
They need to create a shockwave in market if they can drop prices latter why not start with low price and put pressure.

Probably a WP 8 with Note II screen, pureview camera, free apps @ S II price may help :)
