If they are acctuallly gonna do an Iphone. That info is under lock and key and I am sure that anyone working on that projet has signed a waiver about not only being fired but also being sued for selling trade secrets. So dont expect to hear anything about an Iphone until you hear the CEO of verizon annoncing it himself.

Rumor has it that some VW assocaites have been advised to gear for an "iconic device" to be launched on VW in January, 2011 where the activations will far exceed those for the DROID X...

Always has to be one who brings up the iPhone....no matter what the topic is

I guess I will come clean....I am the leak just like last year. I guess I have always been one of those kids that searches the house weeks in advance snooping to find my christmas presents. So since I get a backstage pass to new phones, I like to share it with a few thousand of my closest friends. To answer your question - no Iphone. But then again I am not nearly important enough to be involved in that decision making

Where is the Motorola Droid Pro? Or is that phone just the Droid 2 World phone? And if none of these devices will be LTE, and LTE devices will be launched just a few months later, why buy these devices?
8. BigRed83 (Posts: 143; Member since: 19 May 2008)
Well for one, I like shiny metal objects... lol I'd like to see LTE soon, too. I'm not sure I want to be on the bleeding edge next summer.
14. phonedemocracy (Posts: 98; Member since: 30 Sep 2009)
I really can't understand how people don't get how networks test out their coverage. LTE will first roll out in aircards. Consider this a stress test for the market. Then the kinks get worked out, service is expanded, and then, and only then will phones come out with it. Sprint did the same thing with 4G- aircards first, phones later. Verizon wont have LTE on phones until at least next summer.

LTE Smartphones in the beginning of February

wow way to go verizon. as usual delaying the fascinate cos they care more about iphone or htc or motorola which all suck compared to the galaxy s
11. Sniggly (Posts: 7291; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
And upon what criteria do you base this assessment?
16. rtimi26 (Posts: 42; Member since: 16 Mar 2009)
better graphics, better screen and many more things that comes the the samsung territory. Now by waiting till october when upgrades would be out on all carriers to 2.2. Who do you think would loose. I have seen the droid X and which to be is better than any other on verizon before fascinate comes out. Verizon have always been hard headed. I'm jumping ship if it doesn't come out next month. Just so you know It took Verizon 2years from when omnia 1 was released in Europe before they decided to let us have it.
26. Testing VZW (unregistered)
People really dont realize the extensive testing process VZW actually puts all the phones through. The reason for these delays are normally because we ACTUALLY test the devices to make sure its ready for launch. Think about it all the phones you see that were leaked are just 2 types of people. Early leaks are normally the REPS/EMPLOYEES who were granted these test devices and thought it be cool to show off. (VZW Test devices MONTHS before it releases anything) The other type is people in marketing who think its cool to create some buzz before a release. The testers themselves are indeed normally regular Technical Reps that have to prove themselves to the company by performing in there numbers and being with the company for almost a year then APPLYING for the actually position without ANY additional pay(to prevent bias reviews). The Executives may get a few devices from time to time but they arent the main testers due to not only not having the time to actually having to time to write the reports needed to send to team that handles quality of releases but also because the jobs they have are TOO important to be messing with a "test" device that could fail at any time. If something is found to be wrong then an update must be created and loaded on to the device to make sure there arent any further problems then they RESTART the testing from day 1 to ensure the update didnt break anything else and then ANOTHER report must be filed and the cycle starts again this also isnt just vzw as the updates for PDA devices normally have to come directly from the vendor (RIM,Google,HTC ect.) that itself could be a month before they find and fix the issue/s when exceptions are done then you have the problems come out like the storm. that phone had over 4 updates before its launch date but with pressure mounting to release it in time they ignored the last reports launched it anyways and even though it sold, vzw and RIM's reputation was hurt in the process. not wanting that to EVER happen again EVERY device is tested and wont release despite launch times or it may not even launch at all (Nexus ?). so next time you think to complain just think do you want a quick launch of a glitched phone or do you want it to work first time.

Damn dog...summarize much? this is one hell of a novel...i lost interest in your argument after the 12th paragraph. God.
30. Testing VZW (unregistered)
lol sry I tend to do that a lot...:P but the process IS long so I dont know how to shorten without leaving out something important.

Samsung has tweeted several times that the Fascinate is coming in "Late Summer". Either (a) Samsung doesn't know when their Samsung phone is actually coming out, or (b) the tipster is wrong. Hmmm
47. Brad (unregistered)
Meh, I was about to refute that statement, but then I realized you were talking about the original Omnia. The Omnia II on Verizon was delayed about 7 months from European release, although we know that part of that delay was due to Verizon waiting so they could release it with Windows Mobile 6.5 out of the box, and not have to deal with messy ROM upgrades later on, which I'm sure could easily become a customer service nightmare (especially on a Windows Mobile device, which has no OTA update method to speak of). I'm looking for the Fascinate to come out late September, but if it is delayed until October, then it's highly likely that Verizon is waiting to release it with Froyo right out of the box, instead of burdening their network with a massive OTA update right after they release it (Froyo update for other Galaxy S phones is coming in late September). I know how messy upgrades can be, so if they can fully test an up to date Froyo ROM (and with working GPS) before releasing it to the public, then I say go for it. A quality product is worth waiting for.

Samsung wants us to long the enter line at the same time that means if one of them is delayed then they all are delayed. Politics is what slows this crap down more than anything. Here is a little insider information. When manufacturers and carriers sign exclusive rights to a phone it is a whole lot more than $ signs and contract length. Contracts include clauses that prevent other carriers releasing similar phones by other manufacturers during an allotted time frame. Things like amount of advertising done in store, tv, radio, etc. Generally speaking when a manufacturer has a big release they will be given a "drive" period. This is when most of their phone are reduced significantly or become BOGO, cost of other manufacturers go up, and same goes for merchandising and advertising. To sum up my long winded response, these are the things that affect release dates more than anything else.
51. VZWProductTestr (Posts: 56; Member since: 03 Jul 2009)
I hope your not my co-worker. no offense but I think you stated the obvious. I can tell you that Verizon itself is very strict with releasing anything about new devices and will only do it through specific press releases, verified twitter account, and most often then not the website. So I guess I am just the tech geek that likes to show off!
52. VZWProductTestr (Posts: 56; Member since: 03 Jul 2009)
I am never wrong! Just kidding....Everything I read says early October
58. Epell (unregistered)
Thanks for this comment. I guess I can't remember any Verizon phone that had really serious bug or flaw. I think I can wait one more month for bug-free phone.

VZWProduct Testr, thanks for the insight. regarding verizon smart phones - I have been working at a Verizon store for a new months and am curious how the product compares to the WiMAX smartphone, the Samsung Epic 4G. You are never wrong! Can anyone help me with this?
72. VZWrep68164 (unregistered)
Thats because the Omnia sucked! "many more things that comes the the samsung territory" what planet are you on where samsung is such a dominant force in the market? Name me one great phone that they've made. What, the Omnia? Omnia 2? Saga? Rogue? Trance? Intensity? Seriously the only one I've been able to recommend in my career selling Verizon has been the Reality and that's just because customers are getting tired of the EnV Touch. My favorite customers are pretentious idiots like yourself who read little blogs and think you know everything. The phone isn't even out yet how can you possibly say it is better than everything else?! You're actually WORSE than people who think the iPhone is a better phone just because it's an iPhone. Oh, and for the record, the iPhone actually has a better screen than any Galaxy S, so not only are you stupid, but also dead wrong. Thanks for playing! P.S. "I'm jumping ship if it doesn't come out next month" A. good luck with any other carrier, and B. good luck with that affecting Verizon's release date.
73. java21 (Posts: 8; Member since: 24 Aug 2010)
was curious why do say verizon has so many problems, I am new to this industry (just got a job after being unemployed for a year), another poster VZWProductTestr seems knowledgeable. I am not sure who to listen to. Can you or anyone advise me?
84. ohsure (unregistered)
Verizon testing??? Like the testing done on the Droid X? That's a joke for Verizon to say they test and then put out a phone that is supposed to be Exchange compatible, etc, when it's clearly NOT.

The Storm 3 will NOT have Surepress. It will have a 5 Megapixel camera, faster processor, and 512MB are RAM. It looks just the like the Storm 2 but with updates. Yes, it will have 6.0 OS and so will the Curve 3. Also, they will not be called "Storm 3 and Curve 3".
13. LCFUT (unregistered)
ODIN Refresh from RIM is the 9570 on Verizon. Same SurePress technology but with the Processor and RAM to run OS6. "Storm3" will be a new device with the same touchscreen technology as the 9800 Torch, but with no physical keyboard and updated processor and RAM to latest standards at time of release. OS6 from RIM will not function on the 9550 with its current hardware.

To whomever leaked this info: I hope you got some sort of contingent employment lined up, becuase you will most certainly be found out...and terminated. I don't think violating company privacy rules entitles you to your 99 weeks of unemployment, either. Jackass.
41. LMAO (unregistered)
That was too funny..... I would agree with you. I wouldn't be too upset as this could have been released by the company to create buzz. I'm actually excited for this as an employee. I would rather people know what is coming so I can stop selling phones and have someone exchange it on me within 30 days because a better device for that customer just came out. BRAVO to who did this. :-)
53. VZWProductTestr (Posts: 56; Member since: 03 Jul 2009)
Fishpower187, what is your job with Verizon? Do I sense a little jealousy? Its too bad mommy could only pay for community college.

Not cool.... Not everyone is brought up with a silver spoon d*ckhead!

The rumored 10 MP HTC phone has been seen before, the Sabor for Sprint and the Discover Concept phone shown last August. I hope this is one of those two phones because they sound amazing, I might have to hold off to see if this rumor is true. But the Merge is almost for sure coming now that we have seen screen shots of it in the inventory system and now this.
24. Elephant2000 (unregistered)
And still no LG Clout VX8370!
45. brikz4real (Posts: 173; Member since: 24 Dec 2008)
It's already been released via the Indirect channel.

But where is my trusty phonearena.com review! LOL!
25. DroidCLH (unregistered)
If Moto doesn't deliver with its next big phone i might be jumping ship to HTC's Merge. Things Moto better do, Stock Android or Motoblur that can be turned off, unlocked bootloader, no keyboard or a keyboard so amazing that id have to use it because of its awesomeness.
59. Sniggly (Posts: 7291; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Dur hurr: Motorola Droid X. Problem solved, except perhaps the bootloader. Why can't you leave a phone alone without fucking with it?
