Dude, that's rude! Samsung puts up live installations to belittle Apple Maps in Australia
0. phoneArena posted on 12 Dec 2012, 06:53
Samsung would never miss a chance to take advantage of an Apple slip, and two beat up vehicles in Australian cities it made an exhibition of prove it. Remember the Australian police warning not to use Apple Maps to get around arid national park territories in the middle of nowhere, as you might end up, well, in the middle of nowhere?...

This is funny lol, I'm an apple user but its great to see them get a taste of their own medicine for once.

Funny. Use GS III Navigation? Actually they (Samsung) don't even own the maps. They are bragging about Google maps, which can also be accessed from ANY phone (or OS). SS just happens to have a good app (gMaps) which is also provided by Google.
At least Apple owns their mapping data.. and seemingly improving it.
9. MeoCao (unregistered) posted on 12 Dec 2012, 07:21 28 5
LOL, that's OK dude. SS obviously pays Google for the data so they have the bragging right.
17. aaronkatrini posted on 12 Dec 2012, 07:50 12 8
Sammy doesn't pay a cent to Google for their maps. Google maps come with the hole Android package. Apple should let both Google maps and their own maps instead of making all this mess!
20. MeoCao (unregistered) posted on 12 Dec 2012, 08:03 17 0
Nobody has to pay for Google Maps, but if some1 makes their own map application using Google's Map API they will have to pay for the data.
Navigon is not Google maps.
15. anywherehome posted on 12 Dec 2012, 07:39 8 3
improving? maybe but deal with that iPhone has been and will always be inferior...especially in maps...will never meet Google maps quality
enjoy your icon board....does it know anything else than icons? multi user API, photo sphere, moving things on desktop, democracy? :)
22. brucewayne posted on 12 Dec 2012, 08:19 12 1
what does apple have to brag about? screens and chips made by samsung? camera sensor made by sony?
then why cant samsung brag about awesome maps made by google when infact they are using the os made by google?..Man you just seem so dumb.!!

Funny how no one can just laugh at this...It's funny. Why find a reason to start a war? Oh wait, it's PA. Nevermind!

yea i just LAUGED MY ASS OFF, when i seen this one! Samsung is funny as hell for this one haha......
40. xtremesv posted on 12 Dec 2012, 12:36 1 0
We're not talking about Google Maps but Navigon by Garmin, a dedicated GPS service on the GSIII. Read first please.
43. vishu9 posted on 12 Dec 2012, 14:41 0 0
I don't get how people can just comment without knowing the facts. Apple didn't fetch all the mapping data for their Maps. It's provided by TomTom. Make good use of your time, do some research before starting a slug fest. There's a thing called Google.com for everyone's needs
49. abish1234 posted on 12 Dec 2012, 21:58 0 0
ur an idiot..Samsung has its own navigation technology.. its Called ROUTE66..
38. amiaq posted on 12 Dec 2012, 11:09 0 0
In Australia they'd say "mate don't use that dodgy iPhone map"
42. AnTuTu posted on 12 Dec 2012, 14:21 2 0
Sammy gonna beat the hell out of that fruit now :)
5. jopancy posted on 12 Dec 2012, 07:04 14 1
Totally agree with Samsung.
Why pay huge sum of money for something so remarkably useless??
7. tech2 posted on 12 Dec 2012, 07:13 6 6
"Dude, that's rude!"
Daniel P., why write an article if you cant be neutral. I remember an article from PA pointing out the fanboyism in the comments and how PA's article aren't bias. Why provoke then by making such a statement ?
BTW, do you remember 'PC vs Mac' ad several years ago by Apple to belittle Windows ? It wasn't rude then was it !
10. XiphiasGladius posted on 12 Dec 2012, 07:22 8 0
If I'm not mistaken, I think Daniel P. is trying to insert some humor with that title.
13. eisenbricher posted on 12 Dec 2012, 07:25 2 4
Because in general it's really rude. And yes, those PC v Mac ads were as well.
Companies should face competition positively.
21. dsDoan posted on 12 Dec 2012, 08:16 4 0
They should, yes. But if Apple's not going to, then I don't see any problem when the competition doesn't.
27. iDroidWin posted on 12 Dec 2012, 08:33 1 0
I agree it is and doesn't promote healthy competition. Its better to take the high road. Instead of Oops, it should just say, trust better navigation as people there are facing these issues. But reporters shouldn't be the judge of what's rude and what isn't. We, the readers, should be. PA has always been "trying" to "frame opinions" of its readers. Level is declining.

OMG...LMFAO..!!!!
They should put one of those displays in front of a Burger King in downtown Sidney!
12. Danre posted on 12 Dec 2012, 07:24 11 1
still i find many Apple users who think that apple map is best and that is why i called them i$heep.
14. PapaSmurf posted on 12 Dec 2012, 07:34 5 1
This is probably the funniest thing I've seen in awhile. Play with fire, you get burned.
16. darkkjedii posted on 12 Dec 2012, 07:43 2 3
That's what Samsung should do. And apple should fix maps to make it moot
26. eisenbricher posted on 12 Dec 2012, 08:32 0 4
What's up with people these days... things change fast. have seen hordes of people BSing about the maps, they just won't ever accept that it'll get better.
35. TROLL posted on 12 Dec 2012, 10:35 0 0
Its better they should not make Reformation, leave it how it is™®©
19. eDiesel posted on 12 Dec 2012, 08:02 2 1
Its not rude. Its true. Why not let people know the truth about a sorry product.
24. iDroidWin posted on 12 Dec 2012, 08:29 2 0
I think its not good advertising if you poke fun at other products. I don't support what nokia tried by doing #DroidRage or what samsung is trying to do here. But I don't support the topic that PhoneArena puts either. Dude, that's rude! ? Any news reporting should be unbaised. I have always found PhoneArena's language, if not facts, to be biased.

28. rickywinataa posted on 12 Dec 2012, 08:58 2 0
well apple fans, you can't be angry with this. steve jobs has told bad things about other competitors and with apple mocking samsung in the apple UK's site, it's a bit even now
30. kach22 posted on 12 Dec 2012, 09:05 2 0
Really Loved this. APple deserves this. In fact any high profile company making such serious mistake deserves this be it sammy, Noki or others.
32. byazatt posted on 12 Dec 2012, 09:30 1 0
if the navigon was a Samsung application, imagine how apple apologetics would be all about,, but now since its the mighty all perfect apple, you had rather people sympathizing with em huh ..no, if you make crap be ready to get it the hard way.
39. CRICKETownz posted on 12 Dec 2012, 12:17 0 0
Media always blows up things bigger than what it is. my Apple nav has been flawless and is 100x better than the previous Google Maps provided to iPhone. I've had my GSlll navigate me to places that were supposed to be a restaurant but ended up being a side street and also take me out of the way during highway travels. Hell, just this past weekend my girlfriend's Galaxy Nexus kept giving us incorrect route information in downtown Chicago (which my Apple nav had to get us on the right track). I'm sure TomTom Garmin & other gps services have had the same thing from time to time. It happens. Why is Apple catching so much flack for the same behaviors? Humor is okay but to encourage that this is just an Apple issue is a bit hypocritical.
41. Tsepz_GP posted on 12 Dec 2012, 12:37 0 0
Some REALLY need to read properly and quit spewing their nonsense here:
"...alluding to the Navigon GPS app that comes preinstalled on Galaxy S III units sold Down Under."
Its NOT GMaps they're on about, and i bet they do pay Navigon for use of their Maps.
44. vishu9 posted on 12 Dec 2012, 14:49 0 0
And PA!? I don't see any mention of Apple Maps in the ad or even anything in the shape of an iPhone. I can believe the the Samsung TV ads were blatantly open in belittling Apple fans but this? Not really. They're just promoting their own flagship over all the other mapping solutions alternatives. And we all know there are plenty of them, and not just phones.

It wasn’t Apple’s fault entirely as the company was working on data from The Australian Gazetteer, a company run by the Geosciences Australia agency which supplies Gazetteer with mapping data sourced from the state of Victoria itself.
And now, we learn that the police in Colac, west of Melbourne, warn of safety concerns from Google Maps. Ouch!
Yahoo News reports:
Police in Mildura have had to conduct six rescues in recent weeks, after through the Murray Sunset National Park.
Now police in Colac, west of Melbourne, say faults with Google maps are putting people’s lives at risk along the Great Ocean Road and in the southern Otways.
Google is apparently directing vehicles and tourists down Wild Dog Road.
