Dual SIM Note 7 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage gets certified in China

Make of this what you will, but a certification approval on the Chinese equivalent of the FCC has changed its listing of a Galaxy Note 7 version to reflect a model with no less than 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.

Granted, this is a dual SIM version that has been approved for hooking up to carrier networks there, so it will have a hybrid SIM/microSD tray, and it makes sense to bump the base storage, given that you won't be able to put a memory card there if you want to use two SIM cards at once. What's with the 6 GB of RAM, though, and why is that needed, except for bragging rights, remains somewhat of a mystery. Meanwhile, we now also have a Samsung SM-N9300 model (or, Note 7) appear on Geekbench with 6 GB RAM, which adds fuel the speculation that Samsung might release a model with this whopping RAM amount. 

While the six gigs rumor didn't materialize for the global version, Samsung might have decided to give users in the largest smartphone market a little something more to lure them away from local brands like OnePlus, which are selling 6 GB RAM phones for half the Note 7 price. Also, Samsung is no stranger to outing phone versions and whole new lines that are exclusively made for China now, like the On5/On7, or the C-series. We'll see how this 6 GB/128 GB Note 7 certification pans out in the next few weeks, but we'd wager to guess there will be a golden variation if it materializes.
