Verizon could be planning on replacing the HTC Droid Eris on April 1st, with the sizzling hot HTC Incredible which Big Red feels is its version of the Nexus One...

I wouldn't be surprised...as I thought this is what was supposed to happen originally. Motorola has the high end model, and HTC has the lower end model sold side by side. Which is what's happening right now. Droid-Moto, then Droid Eris-HTC. Then I thought after so many months the models at least advertising wise would Flip flop. So then a high end HTC, and a lower end Motorola. We all heard this back in September of last year, so why would be surprised now if it's actually happening? Who cares? In the end... We win as consumers getting more devices quicker. By the time the Incredible and Devour are out at the same time I will be April. Which means the Moto Droid, and HTC Eris have been out 6 months.

"Motorola DROID back in November, is going "End of Life" on April 1st." This is what I think is shenanigans. Why would they kill their Moto Droid off? It's their best selling phone. Even with the Nexus One/Incredible, or whatever the roll out will be, they could lower the price point of the Moto Droid and still make money off the users that don't want to pay a premium price for their phone. And I bet this what will happen.

"The source told BerryScoop that the Droid Eris, which was launched together with the Motorola DROID back in November, is going "End of Life" on April 1st" read this whole sentence and you will see that it was talking about the eris "end of life" not the moto droid. dumbass

Nexus 1 FTW and the updates directly from Google and the better color scheme.

Nexus One for VZ will be from Google only, just as it is now, so retail wont see it. Of course they will push the HTC incredible since its the one IN the store and N-One is not...People who know about the N-one will know where to get it, but Verizon will lose money if we buy in Bulk and have a poor turnout (since Droid was released in October and sold so many units, many customers wont be eligable for upgrade)...this way ALSO customers will be able to customize thier N-One online as well. It should be treated similar to when the HP netbooks were released, Handset is HTC/Google service provider VZW. Hopefully Apple will pick up on this as well and make iPhone "shell" and custom chipsets.

why would they want early adopters to be able to upgrade? the idea of the subsidy of a phone is that you are locked in... also why would you want a phone that your carrier wont support at their locations and via their customer service? thats just dumb....i have a problem with my phone...sorry...ur out of luck

T-Mobile reps will not touch a Nx-1. I'd bet apples to bannanas that you'll get the same treatment in any Verizon store, when the day comes. Can't blame them either.

try reading the article again there. Its the Droid Eris from HTC not the DROID from Motorola...I think there is a big difference between the two, but i'm not certain (tongue in cheek).

wow, you NEVER read the articles through do you?

It makes sense since the INcredible outshines the Droid Eris in almost everyway

I bet it does but why would they replace a phone that has only been out for few months? That doesn't make sense to me. And isnt the Incredible really big? I thought that was a "pro" about the Eris; its size.
