Don't stare directly at this picture of the LG Eclipse 4G LTE

0. phoneArena 17 May 2012, 21:52 posted on

BriefMobile obtained new pictures showing the back of the LG Eclipse 4G LTE; this is LG's high spec'd beast that includes 2GB of RAM, a 4.67 inch display and the zippy dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 under the hood...

If LG would just use stock Android instead of using their annoying (to me) UI they would be a great mobile company. Like the G2X, they used stock GB on that and it was great, a few issues here and there, but what phone doesn't have those?

I was absolutely set on the EVO LTE, until I laid eyes on this monster, now I don't know.

Great specs! I'd be interested to see if they could put a good image sensor behind that 13 mp camera and really enter the camera phone arena.

Does the LTE 2 have a snapdragon s4 chip? if not then there's the difference...

Oh there is a diff.. APQ8064 is a QUAD CORE S4, with ADRENO 320.
In other words - about twice the CPU power, and about FOUR TIMES the GPU power, compared to current S4!

what's your problem?
i offered a bet about quad core Krait releasing in a phone this year.
So if you don't agree, accept the bet or shut up.
we shall wait and see

i didn't know you issued a bet but yeah sure, i accept. same to you guy. you already seem convinced this thing is coming with a quad-core S4 and you're spouting out hype like it's fact. well no sir. no one should be getting their hopes up for that one.

Well, Qualcomm already announced the S4 Pro, it does have Adreno 320 GPU that seems really amazing. Whether the S4 Pro is dual or quad, I don't know. From what I've read it's just gonna be the dual-core Krait with a new GPU, though they could make it quad. And they did say they expect to see it in devices soon, so it could be possible

who's counting? Verizon is still sitting on some gems like the Droid Razr MAXX.

Hey man, we don't get great phones that often, we have a major release, what like every two years, let us sprint users shine for a moment.

Besides Verizon has picked up a lot of LG phones lately, I'm sure they will get this one two, but then again, they did pass up the gs2

for a head start on offering the Galaxy Nexus which is preferable over having a Crapdragon powered SII in order to have LTE connectivity on it.

That's my point, our biggest release recently was the gnex, and Verizon already had it. (I don't count the EVO LTE yet, because it isn't being physically sold yet)

Actually Sprint's SGSII had the dual core Exynos that pretty much smoked the competition. BTW, Snapdragons are not crap, do your research.

yeah, that's because the Exynos 4210 could support WiMAX over here which is what Sprint uses with the Epic 4G Touch which by the way barely beats the Galaxy Nexus. they absolutely are crap man unless you have an argument to the contrary which i seriously doubt. humor me anyway.

The Snapdragon S3 was bad, but the S4 is amazing. I still don't know why Samsung didn't design the Exynos to support LTE and 42 Mbps HSPA+ on the GS2 for AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Verizon probably would've gotten the GS2 if the Exynos would support LTE.

the S4 is fine but i wouldn't take it over the competing SoC's for it's generation like the OMAP5. yeah, it would've made more sense that way.

By the time the OMAP5 is out in the US though, the S4 Pro will be out, compare the S4 (dual) with the OMAP4, the S4 wins hands-down. And hopefully Qualcomm doesn't screw up their first-gen quad somehow like they did with their first-gen dual. They will compare all the quads when they come out;

OMAP5
S4 Pro
Exynos 4212
Tegra 3

It should be interesting

that's doubtful. the OMAP4 is a last generation SoC guy and the sad thing is it's not even THAT much better. the OMAP5 is a dual-core SoC.

Didn't the One S score like, double the score on Quadrant than the Galaxy nexus? I get benchmarks aren't indicative of daily performance, but still. And I assumed the OMAP5 was a quad, my bad

yeah but that's like the only place. Antutu and Smartbench don't put it an extremely amount higher like Quadrant does.
