Don't stare directly at this picture of the LG Eclipse 4G LTE

BriefMobile obtained new pictures showing the back of the LG Eclipse 4G LTE; this is LG's high spec'd beast that includes 2GB of RAM, a 4.67 inch display and the zippy dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 under the hood...

Well that's true, but even so, if you compare the One S to the Razr, you can very much notice a difference in performance. With the Razr, it's an overall smooth performance, but there is noticeable lag every now and then. But with the One S, there is absolutely no lag whatsoever even though it's running Sense, while toned down in the newest version, is still considerably heavier than Motorolas UI. Even in the One X for AT&T, there is very minimal lag, so minimal it can only be noticed if you actually try hard to see it. My point is, the S4 is an awesome chip, it holds it's ground with the quads and still come out on top. And when the S4 Pro is released, it should be considerably better.

you're comparing Gingerbread to ICS. ICS on the Razr has no lag at all in fact it feels faster than the One S because it's nearly a stock Implementation of ICS.

Ah, true. But once again, even though the One S is running Sense, it still has no lag. If you put Sense 4 over the Razr on ICS, it would have considerable lag. Though this is just speculation, I haven't seen a Razr with Sense 4 and ICS on it, but you can guess with the heavier UI it would lag. Not saying the Razr has a bad processor, not in the least, but it's obvious the S4 has the upper hand in power and battery life due to it's architecture, even though being a kinda of 'mock' A15.
70. KingKurogiii posted on 19 May 2012, 19:04 0 0
you're right. it probably would lag sometimes, not much but it would be there. yeah, i don't deny at all that the S4 is better but not to such extremes that has become such popular belief.

Yeah, I'm sorry if my comments came across as something along the lines of, "OMG the S4 chip is like the best ever and the res sux lol!" I know that there are perfectly good chips out there that have more power than the S4, and that in some cases that power isn't really necessary. Like the new Exynos, it has more power than the S4, but it isn't all that necessary unless you're a heavy mobile gamer, in which case I would prefer a PS Vita than using your phone. And the OMAP in the Razr is perfect for the software it has, Motorola excels in optimizing from what I've seen.

lol, yeah, i'll be happy with my Razr for a while. ICS is unbelievably nice. the PSVita actually has the same PowerVR SGX543(MP4) that's in the new iPad and probably the upcoming OMAP5.

Yup, the Razr is really great, I would've waltzed right down to Verizon and picked one up myself if I hadn't been waiting for the next EVO, which I ultimately decided on. The PowerVR graphics are actually really great, but I'm looking at the Adreno 320 that'll come out soon, I really hope it's as good as Qualcomm hyped it to be.

Guys Need your feedback which one is better?
LG vs Motorola.
28. cepcamba posted on 18 May 2012, 02:38 0 0
Depends on the unit. If you compare their flagships then LG Optimus 4X HD crushes any motorola device. We're not even looking at the 2GB RAM LG monsters. If battery is your thing look no farther than the Droid RAZR MAXX, that's brains, beauty, and battery.
38. KingKurogiii posted on 18 May 2012, 07:46 0 0
Motorola generally makes better phones than a lot of people but they have yet to show any of their next generation devices so comparing the 4X HD to their current line-up would be inappropriate.
47. cepcamba posted on 18 May 2012, 17:46 0 0
Well, you're right. :) Of course when Moto releases their new top droid that's what we should compare to the 4X HD.
And I agree, Moto phones are among the best. I haven't encountered a dissapointing phone from Moto.
But what are they doing??? I've been kinda waiting for A DROID RZR MAXX 2 :)
48. KingKurogiii posted on 18 May 2012, 17:52 0 0
well you should be getting your wish pretty soon except it's name seems to be going along the lines of the Droid Razr HD or the Droid Razr MAXX HD.

Motorola is overall better. LG releases only a couple actual 'quality' devices. Moto offers the best package; a less over-bearing UI, more optimized hardware, decent updates, good overall specs, superior design, and great antennae. The only manufacturer I favor over Moto is HTC, and that's only because I like Sense and their metal designs better.

You want to know how this phone(if the specs are true) would compare to SGSIII?
- 2 times more CPU power
- 3-4 times more graphic processing power
because we're talking an APQ8064 processor here, an QUAD CORE S4 with radically improved GPU.
..add to that an:
- a better camera
- more compact dimensions
..and that would about cover it
These specs are too good to be true.
If they do turn out to be..wow nothing will stand in the way of this thing collecting laurels.
I just hope LG got it's acts together regarding the software.
33. OpTiMuS_BlAcK posted on 18 May 2012, 03:39 0 0
That, and it should be released sooner to catch more of those who were wanting to buy an SGSIII.
It makes my phone look like a wind-up toy in comparison with the Eclipse ._.
39. KingKurogiii posted on 18 May 2012, 07:52 0 0
you know by the time something like this comes out that kind of comparison would be silly and this will be pitted up against REAL ARM Cortex-A15 SoCs.
64. darac posted on 19 May 2012, 07:25 1 0
you're forgetting that the SGSIII will probably remain samsun'g top phone for the rest of the year.
so if LG releases this in Q4 of course it has to be compared with SIII.
though, yeah personally i think Samsung will release an Exynos 5 in Q4 too, as well as OMAP 5.
they are clever, those coreans..i see them playing out their moves so that they can strike at apple continuously..right now they concluded SGSIII can do just fine with this improved previous Exynos, while the real deals(Exynos 5 &OMAP 5) are held back for an onslaught with the Note 2 AND Nexus 4 for the holiday season.
the next nexus should whoop the next iphone's ass thoroughly with dual core A15 and android 5 on board.
however, dual core A15 should still be less capable than quad core Krait
67. KingKurogiii posted on 19 May 2012, 13:05 0 0
i don't think this will be released in Q4 with anything other than the current S4 so no i'm not forgetting, i'm saying anything like what you're describing will be compared to the A-15 heavy hitters.
i've learned that when things are looking this bleak for Apple they will come out with something to help them get a breath of air in the sea of super Android devices so we'll just have to wait for them to make their move.
dual A-15 cores should at least be neck at neck with a quad-core Krait. you'll believe me when you see any real A-15 SoC scores.

Yes, LG's upcoming devices are pretty sick, but Moto's flagship will undoubtedly be better overall.
