Don't stare directly at this picture of the LG Eclipse 4G LTE

BriefMobile obtained new pictures showing the back of the LG Eclipse 4G LTE; this is LG's high spec'd beast that includes 2GB of RAM, a 4.67 inch display and the zippy dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 under the hood...

Just let me know when this phone drops, I would take this over the sgs3 and I'm a Samsung fan!!!

Get the Japanese GS3 if the 2GB RAM is what you're after.
20. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
and how you plan on doing that? notice the OTHER SPECS this phone has....13mp cam, galaxy only has 8mp....People need to stop fooling themselves just cause its dual core doesn't necessarily mean "less core" if the chip is right then you are A...O...K..... Qualcomm snapdragon s4 is a Great chip...
27. cepcamba (Posts: 717; Member since: 27 Feb 2012)
Errr. Didn't you read my comment?
I said "... if the 2GB RAM is what you're after"
GS3 japanese version has a supposed 2GB RAM. If he's after the 2GB RAM then he should consider the GS3.
Did I say anything about the Camera? The chip? Why did you even bring it up?
43. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
because WHY would i consider the S3 for a 2gb of ram WHEN the LG has a 2gb of ram and many more pluses!! dude stop being a fan boy and once again i asked HOW are you going to get the JAPANESE version?
50. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4250; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
And you can get the Japanese version fairly easily. Off of like, Amazon, Ebay, etc. Though sometimes those aren't really reliable, it's still an option that's easy to accomplish
62. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
now this is true and yea thanks but a 13 mb cam and possibly a good lens as well.... with 2gb of ram and a really good snapdragon s4 chip... So why would i get the S3 again? simply because of an unecessary quad core?? I don't think so man, and the Lg might even be a little lighter on your pockets anyway...
oo and did i mention there kinda going over board with the 4.8 inch screen size? NOT comfortable by any means
49. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4250; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
You contradicted yourself a bit here... You say the number of cores isn't everything, but you complained about the GS3 'only' having an 8 mp camera vs. this RUMORED 13 mp. Yes, the S4 is a great chip, and it has plenty of power to run the phone without any lag, but it's obvious the quad- Exynos has more power. Though that power isn't exactly necessary, it's still nice to have. Anyways, my point is, megapixels in a camera don't matter that much the same as cores don't matter that much. The camera software and hardware such as the lens do. The GS3 might have a 8 mp camera, but it's a really good 8mp camera, that could quite possibly take better pics than this 13mp.
61. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
Ok but WHAT IF the 13 mp cam has them BOTH?What if it not only has more mega pixels but a GOOD lens as well? Then what would you say?
68. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4250; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Then I would say "That's a good camera." My point is, just because it says 13 MP, doesn't mean it's better. Not only that, but I'm pretty sure this is a rumor. I could be wrong though
73. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
and no i didn't contradict myself, I threw the number of pixels out there because THEY LOVE TO throw out the number of cores out there, to try and gain an advantage, when just like you said the number of cores or pixels really dont matter!
75. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4250; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Yes, you did contradict yourself. You were going on about how the number of cores didn't matter, but you also went on to say that the number of MP did matter, which they don't. They threw out the number of cores to gain an advantage, and you found that to be wrong, but you threw out the number of MP to gain an advantage and you find that alright? Even though they both don't matter. I'm pretty sure that's an accurate example of being hypocritical.

Ok I'm back :)
Let me just clear myself, I didn't say this LG Eclipse is crap, it's actually good. And I prefer Kraits over quads. And I also didn't consider the camera when I said to get the japanese GS3.
I was just looking at the RAM. I said if the guy was after the 2GB RAM then get the Jap GS3.
It's undeniable dude. As of the moment, the Galaxy S3 is the Android King. If I were to choose between GS3 and LG Eclipse I wouldn't even have second thoughts on choosing the GS3.
I'm not a fanboy by the way, I have the Xperia S and I'm waiting for the Hayabusa because for me Sony cameraphones are the best in terms of imaging and imaging is one of my top considerations. But I will give it to the GS3, it's the overall best, ask the 9 million people who pre-ordered it.
If people are gonna buy this LG Eclipse, it's most probably because of the camera and the 2GB RAM. But since I wasn't considering the camera, I suggested the GS3 with 2GB RAM. It's not about the cores, or whatever. I WAS JUST REFERRING TO THE RAM. And a GS3 with 2GB RAM is better than the LG Eclipse.
81. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
yea you would chose the "android King" because of that quad core it has....when the LG right here will probably be lighter on your pockets, have that nice S4 chip, a 13 mp camera and possibly a good lens too, as well as a 2gb of ram.... oo and you say ASK THE 9 million ppl that already ordered it??? I dont give a damn if 20 million ppl ordered it, if this phone is better ITS BETTER, dont get caught up in the media and Get with the crowd jus because "9 million ppl" bought the damn phone, when that many ppl are only buying the phone because its like the ONLY MAJOR FLAGSHIP out right now and people are really F*****G anxious, so anxious theyll prolly go in debt just to have A NEW piece of technology!! Knowing DAMN well they really dont need to upgrade from there S2.... But coming from the "MIGHTY S2" or so they say, this phone should have already had a 2gb of ram a 1.5 ghz processor, a full 2mp front facing cam... BOTH a 12mp camera and a Good lens... and maybe even 330 ppi instead of 306.. and im saying this cause the S2, IF, and only IF, You go by what ppl say, was Like A GOD phone lol
82. cepcamba (Posts: 717; Member since: 27 Feb 2012)
Ok now I see your point. But I don't like the GS3 simply because it has 4 cores, I like it because it is the overall best performer as of the moment. S4 chip is great and it beats the quad-exynos here and there but overall GS3 is still better. I'd say a battle between the two chips can go either way depending on the optimizations.
Based on what you said you're considering the size, weight, and the cam. I guess between you and me, this boils down to preference. So we really can't decide on a winner if there is preference in the equation.
Also, I was wrong referencing the 9million people who pre-ordered the phone, you're right, that kinda sounds ish33pish :p
*But I'd still say Hayabusa will be better than this or the GS3.
80. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
the reason why i wrote it like that is because I believe i just came from a different article and people there where praising the quads over the duals... and when i seen this dude here like defending the the damn S3 just because some other dude was like ill get the LG over the S3 if it has a 2gb of ram, so thats when i said notice the other specs this phone has not jus a 2gb of ram and the part i continued about the cores was really for another post soo yea i can see how it looked like that but it wasnt ment for this post....so my bad berzerk

is there any problem with lg they produce top specs device but still somehow manage to make that mighty device a flop in every aspect.....
34. Non_Sequitur (Posts: 1111; Member since: 16 Mar 2012)
I agree with you. They don't update their software often and they also refuse to go with the ICS favorites dock and do the old Samsung Touchwiz thing that has only three customizable and then an apps drawer. And they make it look fugly.
35. Atrixboyyy (Posts: 299; Member since: 03 Nov 2011)
3 thumbs down ? Was I wrong lol no I must've made some LG fans upset .
77. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4250; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
If LG would just use stock Android instead of using their annoying (to me) UI they would be a great mobile company. Like the G2X, they used stock GB on that and it was great, a few issues here and there, but what phone doesn't have those?
8. parkwaydr (Posts: 572; Member since: 07 Sep 2011)
I was absolutely set on the EVO LTE, until I laid eyes on this monster, now I don't know.
10. CWBAlfredo (Posts: 28; Member since: 26 Apr 2012)
Great specs! I'd be interested to see if they could put a good image sensor behind that 13 mp camera and really enter the camera phone arena.

As long as its notsuper wide. I'm a one hand phone guy.
14. biglou508 (Posts: 11; Member since: 17 May 2012)
wait ok if you click on the pic it says duel core i thought this phone was a quad core ? if its a duel core isnt this phone just like the lte 2 ? except with a 13 mp cam
21. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
Does the LTE 2 have a snapdragon s4 chip? if not then there's the difference...
29. darac (Posts: 2156; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
Oh there is a diff.. APQ8064 is a QUAD CORE S4, with ADRENO 320.
In other words - about twice the CPU power, and about FOUR TIMES the GPU power, compared to current S4!
37. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5704; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
yeah, that's not happening but you just keep on dreaming there pal. xD
63. darac (Posts: 2156; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
what's your problem?
i offered a bet about quad core Krait releasing in a phone this year.
So if you don't agree, accept the bet or shut up.
we shall wait and see
66. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5704; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
i didn't know you issued a bet but yeah sure, i accept. same to you guy. you already seem convinced this thing is coming with a quad-core S4 and you're spouting out hype like it's fact. well no sir. no one should be getting their hopes up for that one.
78. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4250; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Well, Qualcomm already announced the S4 Pro, it does have Adreno 320 GPU that seems really amazing. Whether the S4 Pro is dual or quad, I don't know. From what I've read it's just gonna be the dual-core Krait with a new GPU, though they could make it quad. And they did say they expect to see it in devices soon, so it could be possible
79. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5704; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
a dual-core pro may launch at around the end of summer of the fall season.
25. Guest_star (Posts: 231; Member since: 30 Dec 2011)
optimus lte 2 uses S4 but this guy uses quad core S4 because as far as i know only quad core krait uses andero 320

Another great phone NOT coming to Verizon!
17. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5704; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
who's counting? Verizon is still sitting on some gems like the Droid Razr MAXX.
18. parkwaydr (Posts: 572; Member since: 07 Sep 2011)
Hey man, we don't get great phones that often, we have a major release, what like every two years, let us sprint users shine for a moment.
Besides Verizon has picked up a lot of LG phones lately, I'm sure they will get this one two, but then again, they did pass up the gs2
22. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5704; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
for a head start on offering the Galaxy Nexus which is preferable over having a Crapdragon powered SII in order to have LTE connectivity on it.
41. parkwaydr (Posts: 572; Member since: 07 Sep 2011)
That's my point, our biggest release recently was the gnex, and Verizon already had it. (I don't count the EVO LTE yet, because it isn't being physically sold yet)
45. lsutigers (Posts: 817; Member since: 08 Mar 2009)
Actually Sprint's SGSII had the dual core Exynos that pretty much smoked the competition. BTW, Snapdragons are not crap, do your research.
46. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5704; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
yeah, that's because the Exynos 4210 could support WiMAX over here which is what Sprint uses with the Epic 4G Touch which by the way barely beats the Galaxy Nexus. they absolutely are crap man unless you have an argument to the contrary which i seriously doubt. humor me anyway.
51. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4250; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
The Snapdragon S3 was bad, but the S4 is amazing. I still don't know why Samsung didn't design the Exynos to support LTE and 42 Mbps HSPA+ on the GS2 for AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Verizon probably would've gotten the GS2 if the Exynos would support LTE.
53. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5704; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
the S4 is fine but i wouldn't take it over the competing SoC's for it's generation like the OMAP5. yeah, it would've made more sense that way.
55. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4250; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
By the time the OMAP5 is out in the US though, the S4 Pro will be out, compare the S4 (dual) with the OMAP4, the S4 wins hands-down. And hopefully Qualcomm doesn't screw up their first-gen quad somehow like they did with their first-gen dual. They will compare all the quads when they come out;
It should be interesting
56. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5704; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
that's doubtful. the OMAP4 is a last generation SoC guy and the sad thing is it's not even THAT much better. the OMAP5 is a dual-core SoC.
57. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4250; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Didn't the One S score like, double the score on Quadrant than the Galaxy nexus? I get benchmarks aren't indicative of daily performance, but still. And I assumed the OMAP5 was a quad, my bad
58. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5704; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
yeah but that's like the only place. Antutu and Smartbench don't put it an extremely amount higher like Quadrant does.
