Don't expect the HTC One in the U.S. until late April

HTC has completely squandered the head start it had over Samsung in the U.S. as the Taiwan based company has announced that the HTC One won't reach North America until the end of next month, around the same time that the Samsung Galaxy S 4 is expected to launch in the United States; the HTC One will debut next week in the UK, Germany and Taiwan...

TOkay, so I will start by saying that I am more of a Samsung guy and was somewhat torn on which handset to get, whether the HTC One or the S4. I had decided that if the S4 did not meet with expectations, that I'd get the One. The design could have been better, but overall, the S4 is the better phone. Why? It has the fastest clocked processor in a phone in the world based on benchmarks, the superior UI, and features. The two and only things that the One has over the S4 is the design (props to them) and the dual-membrane speakers, the camera doesn't count because even though it does take in more light, it doesn't capture as much detail because of it's low mega-pixel count. I'm not making this up, it's based on a review in phonearena of the iPhone 5 vs the HTC One. I'm not trying to trash talk the One, it's a really good phone. No other manufacturer in my opinion deserves the #2 spot more than HTC only to Samsung. The S4 is more of an update to the S3, but man, what an update! They've put so much software into that thing that make it such a beast. It appeals more to every day usage and to the average user yet it's intuitive as where the One is complex and only features two on screen buttons to go back and into the home screen and you have to tap the home button a certain way to unlock certain features, really? Overall, it comes down to user experience and Samsung has found the way to make it so that their devices are easy to use yet intuitive. The S4 wins, I just wish that next year when they redesign the next flagship device that they will make a device nearly as good looking as the HTC One and stop using plastic. It's light and easy to hold and all because of that, but for once, a real solid construction would be nice.

Go read the gsmarena review. The UI is way superior. Sense 5 is extremely limited in so many areas.

A Ulso, with HTC releasing this so much later when they've had the opportunity to take on the American high-end shelf space by storm, it's a huge setback because by default, without many people having to mention it, the S4 is the only clear competition to it. With them coming out with this phone around the same time, and so many good experiences and expectations from previous Galaxy S phones like the S3 and not so many like the HTC One X with a shirt battery and such and then the one X to come out months later was kind of like a slap in the face to customers. This time around, HTC has a good offering, but let's be real, not many people know a damn thing about phones or specs, not many people care. Samsung having solid sales, positive user experiences throughout the years, plus excellent marketing. The HTC One has it's work cut out for it, BIG time.

Htc makes wonderful phones, but their no competition for Samsung. Their best bet was to try and get the One to the market first. Releasing at the same time as the GS4 is the worse thing they can do. The Galaxy line has almost a cult like following same as the iPhone. Htc is in big trouble.

This still looks like it will be my next phone, if only it was at least 5" :(

4.7 inches is plenty. If it was 5 inches then it would have been bigger than the Droid DNA and approaching epic Lumia 920 levels of hugeness.

The One X was supposedly "superior" to GS3( I don't know what kind of crack some reviewers like Engadget were smoking but that was far from the truth) and you could pick one up for $300 mint or brand new on Craigslist 3-4 months after release. So honestly, the best bet would be to get a GS4 and if you don't like it, trade it for an HTC One plus $100 - $200. Win win situation.
1. Realize how much better the GS4 is and keep it.
2. If you don't like it, sell it at a high resale value and get an HTC One plus $100 or more spending money or a Nexus 5.
But if you bought it in March, it would be $300 dollars by the time the GS4(April) comes out.

GSMARENA, by far the most in depth and fair website just reviewed the HTC One. And yes, the camera sucks in good lighting just like the Lumia 920. Game over HTC.

Something tells me that the Galaxy S4 will be released first. If I am right, the sales for the HTC One will suffer.

I am predicting the HTC One reaches North America first but in limited supply but the GS4 has plenty of supply first.

It is going to be hilarious when HTC gets the One to the US.
The faithful will rush out to snap up the first batch and will be disappointed in the flaws caused by HTC stumbling over themselves to rush the One to market in an attempt to beat Samsung

I learned long ago that a tool that feels great in my hands is the tool that I prefer.. My Contract is up on Aprils Fools Day (coincidence ?) My choices are now down to the S3 or S4 or an iPhone 5 or the HTC One...
I absolutely hate the "feel" of the S3.. sorry sammy boys but it is just downright cheap feeling in my hands... BUT if it drops in price significantly a "good" case will or may solve my problem with it.. Of not then I'll wait for both the S4 and HTC one..then make up my mind.. But I sure don;t think it will be the S4 especially if it feels so darn cheap......
And although I am the only one in my family who does not use an iPhone I just don;t care for the darn things...
