The biggest thing that scares me about the GSII is samsung is notorious for being slow with updating software. ex.. The Evo 4g has been updated to gingerbread since the beginning of june, but the Epic(GSI) is still waiting. Going on three months and counting. On the other hand the Galaxy SII has some awsome features. The biggest battery of any phone on Sprint ,the biggest screen, the most overall memmory, the best acmera and video (1080p at 30 fps) one of the best displays to date and all that in a very slim and sexy package.
The Nexus prime could still get my coin but it won't be easy. Yes it will have a better display , but it needs to have at least as much memmory 48gb or more, a better camera ,great battery life, good speaker phone, a very slim form factor, and land at a good price point. Most of all I need to know most of these things by september 16th the launch of the Galaxy SII. Plus the Nexus Prime would have to be launching in the mid October to early November time frame. So will the Nexus Prime transform the way I look at smart phones? only time will tell and the clock is ticking.

After the firmware update fiascos of the previous galaxy I think I'll pass on this.

can someone explain why they would make a device that is full HD video recording capable but not capable of HD output? the resolution is not a huge deal because of the AMOLED screen's capabilities but they dropped the ball big time with the HD issue

Hey you can always wait to get a better phone. If you do then you will never be able to get a phone because you will always be waiting because better phones always come out. Anyone who gets a Samsung Galaxy S II will be totally happy. That phone IS the best right now still since its release. That phone will still be sick come this spring! Plus there are going to be TONS of ROMS for it, so we still don't know the full extent of its powers. I have a HTC Evo 3D & I know once the Samsung Galaxy S II finally comes out it will outclass my phone. My HTC Evo 3D has new life because I rooted it & I have it overclocked to 1.6 GHz & my phones is lightning fast. I got it to 2 GHz but it eats my battery, but I did see an extended battery to combat that. lol At 1.6 GHz my phone works very well with its stock battery. Plus my phone is 3D & I love the 3D. I can’t wait for CM7 & & MIUI to come for the HTC Evo 3D, & to see what other goodness they will add because of the 3D. EVERY phone will become obsolete sooner or later, so just get what you like & enjoy it because that phone you get most likely get will become yesterdays tech before you know it. I am very happy with my HTC Evo 3D at 1.6 GHz for everyday usage until quad-core phones come out. I can’t wait to see what the new HTC Evo will be like next year, so in the mean time my HTC Evo 3D will hold the fort. I made up my mind & now I am having some fun with my phone. If you become indecisive about a phone, then you won’t have fun & will be stuck with whatever phone you have. Trust me the Samsung Galaxy S II is a SICK BEAST of a phone. Can’t wait to see it myself!

truer words have never been spoken. i was actually reading about the kernel to overclock the EVO 3D the other day and figured you jumped on it. was it completely stable at 2GHz? what are you getting on benchmarks? i got my Droid 3 rooted like minutes after the method was posted (i even tipped Phone Arena about it. xD) and i got this kernel called V6 SuperCharger, it's for phones with low RAM and the kernel makes more efficient use of it and my Droid 3 stays like 95% smooth 100% of the time i use it. no task killer for me. i'm still waiting for an overclocking kernel. i'm getting anxious. i need to tinker! lol.

Hey what up Thump3rDX17, yeah the phone on 2.0 GHz is pretty stable, it gets warm though & eats my battery like a 1998 Chevy Suburban eats gas. lol I got my phone now consistently on about 1.6 GHz at it's so fast. The benchmarks I got @ 2.0 GHz are: Smart Bench ’11, 2829 Productivity & 2219 Game. Linpack was 112 MFLOPS. Quadrant I got 3300. That is all with the HTC Sense 3.0 on it & no stock Android. I can’t wait to see the numbers on a stock Android build, or CM7 & MIUI. I am happy with those numbers. The phone was unresponsive or froze 2 times when I had it at 2.0 GHz but at 1.6 to 1.7 GHz it is very stable & I don’t have that problem. I love how quick & no lag the phone has now at 1.6 GHz. If my phone benefits like this from overclocking, I can’t IMAGINE what the Samsung Galaxy S II will do once it is overclocked. It should be INSANE!

that's pretty impressive improvement. o.o
i've got to get mine overclocked like that!

those other phones can go toe to toe with the SGS2? In what ring is that?!? lol. The only thing that can actually pull punches on the SGS2 doesnt exist yet.. that would be the prime and its 3d accelleration or the Kal El chipset.

Not on Big red aka Verizon, its a reason why Verizon will not carrie, this phone because they think its not good enough!

I am excited bc I am on sprint, but I'm going to have to wait to see what the deal is with Ice Cream Sandwich and the Nexus prime in relation to sprint. I would like a full HD screen and a physical camera button. I also don't want to wait 8 months to get Ice Cream Sandwich update for the SII, if a phone with it stock will come out relative soon after the launch of the s II.

I have a poll:
How many different articles can PA put up about the Samsung Galaxy S2?
The main page is basically nothing but SGS2 stuff....
26. Allday28 (Posts: 283; Member since: 19 Nov 2010)
You realize this is a cell phone site right? When a bad ass phone like this comes out on 3 carriers they are gonna talk about it.. So if you dont want to see it DONT COME TO THE WEBSITE!!!! You expect them to talk about fricking puppies or something!??
41. cappy718 (unregistered)
Woah!!! I do realize this is a cell phone site. I'm not an idiot, but it just seems like there is a bunch of articles about the 1 thing that was learned yesterday...release date on Sprint at 200 bucks on contract. The specs on them are all pretty much the same minus the 4.5/4.3 thing. Besides that...what else has been learned about the phone? I was posing the question half heartedly to be a joke...not to get someone to jump down my throat. Take a pill...
51. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
and in a month, android users will be screaming because the page will be taken up with iphone5 launch crap. It all comes in cycles. Today is SGS2 day... is it really that hard? lol
60. cappy718 (unregistered)
I dunno...depends on when they do it...I'm hoping for Droid Prime/HTC Vigor stuff on VZW...but we'll see...

Man I totally agree with you on this one. I mean I understand they might be getting the Prime, but I really love this version of touchwiz. I have had the Og Droid since release and I find stock Android to be really ugly and boring. Not to mention the Camera App sucks on stock android..

Nope, this is already going to be outdated considering that Samsung already released information on the LTE versions of this phone and the upgraded processing speeds on the newer units. Don't blame Samsung though, it's the carriers who wanted to make sure their precious bloatware would function properly on the hardware first before they launched in the US. These phones were read for T-mobile and At&T back in MArch when I played with them at the CTIA conference and as usual we in the US of A had to wait twiddling our thumbs for a device that was meant to be future proof but not future proof enough to last through for seven months of waiting. The Prime better be ready soon or I might jump ship and join the dark side of Apple.. SMH

No thanks, I'll wait for the superior iPhone.

I can't think of one reason to get excited...Let's see (What's was so special about The Fascinate)--last Android phone--not Galaxy S series to receive Froyo--phone is now discontinued on VW.. Continuum--a phone that never should have been released--a little ticker tape screen on the bottom of the phone--nothing special...Rogue--feature phone--numerous problems--Omnia 1 & 2, windows phones-need I say anymore...Droid Charge--should not be anywhere near the name Droid--should have been part of the Galaxy S I series...nothing Droid about the first LTE device on VW..It's another Fascinate with LTE..Still does not contain a simple feature like "Notification LED".. and now they are coming with another series Galaxy S II...--not disappointed at all.. Verizon did the RIGHT THING BY NOT GETTING THIS SERIES...
