Do you like the iPhone 5's alleged new design?
0. phoneArena posted on 11 Sep 2012, 02:17
We see all kinds of iPhone mock-ups every year, but they have never been so consistent as what we've seen during the last few months. It's like everywhere you look, there's this iPhone prototype with its taller and thinner body, and back side made of metal and pieces of glass/plastic for the upper and lower ends...

Too bad...iPhone 5 itself is drowning the face of iPhones!!

It's okay, but it's still too similar to previous versions. I like the looks of the Razr Maxx HD a lot better.
11. E.N. posted on 11 Sep 2012, 02:59 5 1
Yeah I agree, its just okay. It definitely isn't ugly, but let's keep hoping this isn't it. Back in May, Johnny I've (the chief designer of Apple for those who don't know) said that "What we’re working on now feels like the most important and the best work we’ve done." If he was referring to iPhone, this can't be it.
15. Sniggly posted on 11 Sep 2012, 03:10 6 0
It's possible that Apple has orchestrated a massive amount of misdirection this time around just so they can gobsmack us with something truly good, but that would've taken a lot of resources and cunning. And hate to say it, but I don't think Apple really has a strong grasp on marketing like they did before Jobs passed away. Their commercials have ranged from silly and more than a little misleading (the Siri commercials) to just plain stupid and insulting (the Genius ads).
29. darkkjedii posted on 11 Sep 2012, 09:52 1 0
Man I hope ur right about the misdirection.

Yeah I like pictures 3 & 5. The white doesn't look too good. But why does it look like there's two different designs for the black models (like picture 3 vs 6)? And in some pictures of the white model, the mid-section has a grey shade and in others it looks like yellowish. If I was to make a bet, I'd say these are all fake...but maybe that's just wishful thinking, lol.
7. shabbir_ene posted on 11 Sep 2012, 02:44 0 0
looks wise it is similar to the previous version... need to check the choice of material used after the release of iphone 5...

The new design looks good, but I'm not crazy about it. I even hate to think that I will see the same design around for a year or two (for iPhone 5S). But I wouldn't mind using one as long as it runs Android. LOL. I'm very much happy with my SGS3.
12. PermanentHiatus posted on 11 Sep 2012, 03:00 3 0
I have my GS3 running CM10. The alleged iPhone 5 with iOS 6 will seem like a toy in comparison.
14. Bfrenz posted on 11 Sep 2012, 03:08 0 0
Whatever am gonna buy it. Play with both SGS3 and The New iPhone

Has anyone considered that maybe two glass bars on the back of the iPhone 5 are maybe symbols od two empty 88 px screen bars when using old apps?
(of course, I think those glass bars are also for contact with surface, to protect metal back from scratching - that's why they appear elevated on leaks and mock-ups)

Now that's an iPhone! The design is really impressive and looks a lot better than my galaxy S3 :( . With a retina display, quad core A6 processor, awesome camera and a premium metallic body, this iPhone has great potential! I am not an iFan but I Cannot deny the fact that this phone looks better than any phone in the market ( NO SARCASM INTENDED). also, the design is better than the iPhone 4S. Am sure the HD video playback would be great too!

Where are you getting your stats from. No one said anything about a quad core. Id like to know your sorces.
26. Levon posted on 11 Sep 2012, 08:43 0 0
for me the 4's proportions are better, the 5's looks narrower and contrasting back breaks overall solid feel. Seems that Apple didn't put much effort to design the "5"
27. McLTE posted on 11 Sep 2012, 09:18 2 1
if I was an iPhone 4s user and was dying for this phone to come out, I'd be PISSED OFF.
the 5 is.. nice. Just a stretched out 4s it appears. I see nothing in this phone that would make me want to ETF or pay full retail for the phone, though I know countless people will do it.
The unfortunate thing is that this is what I EXPECTED from Apple.. a mild update that they call earth shattering, their BEST work yet! YAWN.
It's nice and all, and will be a good phone.. but it doesn't get me all wound up and excited like... the Note2 does! :P
42. E.N. posted on 11 Sep 2012, 15:13 2 0
I have absolutely zero excitement for the Note II. I'm more excited for the new Nexus than I am for the Note II. Heck I'd choose the Nokia 920 before the Note II. Everyone is different.
I don't think this to be expected from Apple. I think we expected more from Apple, especially design wise, which is why a lot of people are a little surprised/unhappy this is looking like the final version.
28. thomasgellender posted on 11 Sep 2012, 09:47 1 0
I like the new design but I'm still a bit disappointed that it's not a big change. The small screen of the previouse models put me off buying one but with the bigger screen I can't wait to get my hands on it. Still secretly hoping that this is all wrong and when it's unveiled it looks completely different.
31. shamatuu posted on 11 Sep 2012, 10:23 2 1
Same old s**tty design. Nothing new like i said before those days are over for them.
33. iami67 posted on 11 Sep 2012, 10:58 1 1
phone looks very boring at best. Ofcourse you cant tell from a pic but anything that norrow and long is going to be top heavy which means lots of broken iphone 5s.

I can't figure out why they would think a 16:9 aspect ratio would be smart. Granted 16:9 is great for viewing your phone in landscape, but what percentage of usage is landscape?... 5% maybe?
I hope this isn't the actual design, and if it is I hope it fails. Not because I don't like Apple (I've been waiting for this generation's iPhone since April 11'), but because I don't want to see the industry stray from their current aspect ratios.
I have no problem if they release two phones tomorrow, one with a 16:9 aspect ratio, and another at 3:2.

In all out honesty, it's the same as the last, nothing in the iPhone ever changes, same design, maybe a few tweaks, same OS with a few tweaks but is still far from functional when compared to Android with it's widgets or WP with its live tiles.
Each new iPhone and iOS upgrade is just an attempt to catch up to the market that Apple so stubbornly chooses not to participate in due to it's ego and still thinking that the rest of the word will stay behind them and conform to their views. Which is the same way of thinking that caused them lose to Microsoft as the dominant computer OS.
I agree that Apple changed the market in 2007, but the market has caught up and surpassed Apple who are still in the same mindset they were in 5 years ago. Only now are they bringing out a 4 inch screen, after the industry has been making 4 inch and bigger screens for a few years now.
Apple's stubborn refusal to change will only be their downfall and it's true if you look at how they've been steadily loosing it, people want more functionality and more customization.
I'm not bashing Apple, I'm just saying that after 5 years, they're not really giving us anything new or innovative like how they tout themselves to be.
