to be honest i dont really think about sony at all anymore, when i think android i think in this order:
samsung
htc
motorola
LG
then sony
the only way sony stand a chance this year is to be the first to roll out with ICS

SE phones always look nice but there is always one thing that causes my to go to Samsung our HTC. With the x10, it was the of multi touch. With original arc, there was the lack of a dual core processor. With this device we shall see. Out will become available right before quad cores which may, once more, cause me to look over another beautiful although slightly dated SE device.

i feel sorry for you if you put Samsung on the top of the list in terms of smartphones (or even phones in general)
not necessarily defending SE, but samsungs tend to be garbage (cool doesnt make a phone good or great)

whats bad the amoled+ screen which is highly praised by the industry, exynos chip also highly prasied,8mp camera which is also highly praised.plastic samsung and se both use alot so that cant be the reason you rate se higher than samsung....seriously no matter how ''cool'' something is if it is rubbish it would not sell..surely samsung must be making good device that they selling in droves.

Samsung has good hardware(better than the ones se have used so far) and ofcourse the sell more then se but in terms of built quality/call quality/camera se is ahead of samsung.
And in my opinion ahead in design on all phone brands.

built quality NO, call quality/camera depends on the device and S2 really has pretty good camera

Built quality of sony is better for sure samsung devices crack and the s2 screen breaks when it falls
and im not saying that the s2 doesn't have a good camera(for a phone) but its just not as good as the one from the arc(s)

SE and Samsung both use plastic primarily so dont know how you can rate SE higher build quality,(plastic does not mean bad build quality by the way) cant say on call quality cause i have not used any of SE 2011 devices but can say call quality on my gs2 is very nice. camera again i have not used any of SE 2011 devices but from many only smartphone camera shootouts the s2 has always topped the SE arc....design is subjective but i will be honest and say i personally think the arc looks better than the s2.

Urm not really, Xperia Arc won the EISA Camera Phone of the year...I won't take your judging because those people are professional when it comes to their job. Anyway, call quality on my S.E.X Arc is more than excellent. Also, it's not filled with OEM garbage like Samsung phones; that's a reason a single core phone is going to get ICS.
And when you compare Samsung to Sony, don't just compare the top end phones for f**** sake. Compare ALL the phones. I can tell you that the mid and low end SE devices are FAR better than the ones in Samsung.

You are right about the EISA Award and about when you compare companies ;)
And to be honest when i used the s2 i had to turn off the phone a couple(5a6) a time cause it got stuck(i used it for a week)

built quality doesn't necessary mean the quality of the materials used but also how its built.
and the s2 feels cheap and weak as the arc(s) feel solid.
the call quality has always been better on a sony or nokia and from how i tested the 2 (arc s and s2)
the arc s call quality is better.
also for the camera and the EISA award is done by pros like RamyRamz69 said where as the most of the websites have favorites and aren't pros.
if you make the photos yourself you should see the difference between them.
i tested them both and i know a thing or 2 about the settings for making pictures in different environments(don't know how you call it in english)
and the arc was better.
still the s2 isn't a bad phone it just depends on the enduser what he or she wants.
s2 is a bit faster but you don't notice it on the arc that its slow or somthing it works very fast 2 but because of the hardware the s2 is faster.

Really comparing SE to Samsung it's just unfair, Samsung sold 30 million phones on Q4 while SE must have sold like 1 or 2 million, not to mention the fact that SE doesn't even have a proper high-end phone in their Xperia line
41. romeo1 posted on 07 Jan 2012, 13:24 0 0
the only thing that would be "unfair" is that if you compare the speed of the phones because the s2 of samsung has a dualcore but in terms of call/camera/built/screen/speaker quality. it doesn't matter.

the sad news here is that if this comes with internal memory of 8/16 gb then it will be virtually like the Arc which had only 320mb free ,and sealed battery ,wtf? this is not iCrap , and according to me the only thing that keeps this phone from wiped off is the beauty , sorry Sony and Sony fans ,this is kind of like when the iPhone 4s hit the market ..only thing you will be buying this is for the second rated qualcomm msm 8660 and camera

Me either, if the rumored spec is true then I'm turning my head elsewhere or wait for sony (only) first smartphone to hit the market. the Micro Sim, No SD support and non removable battery is more than enough to turn me off to this device. . .

am sorry but i have held the arc in store and it feels the same as a s2..both have thin back and no creaks on either...the reason why the arc is getting ics is because it was se flagship of 2011,they are not updating any of there 2010 models(you were obviously talking about the fact that samsungs 2010 flagship was not getting ics but neither is se 2010 flagship)...call quality has been excellent on my s2 and i have no doubt that call quality on the arc is probably excellent too...screen no way, first of all the blacks cant be beaten and the viewing angles on the arc is noway as good as the s2 screen...camera if it one the award then thats good but the s2 camera is obviously makes better pic that the tech industry likes and i wont disagree with @steve litchfiled who is a mega camera buff and enthusiast says the overall camera performance in all lights and use of flash is better on the s2....again they are both exellent phone and are on par apart from memory, ram, cpu which are important to the overall performance of the phone also when both phones came out similar time and similar price and the s2 has held much much more value over time than the arc.

You are INSANE, Nokia before SE ! SE is using processors with a new architecture ( Snapdragon S2 ) not like nokia 1GHz but old architecture like ARM 11 ! And mostly every Nokia device except N8 has fixed-focus camera and on top of it Symbian Belle is a COPY of Android with the pull-down menu and all the widgets etc.
