Discussion: Is anyone excited about the Samsung Galaxy Note for AT&T?
0. phoneArena posted on 06 Jan 2012, 09:53
That AT&T is about to announce its own version of the Samsung Galaxy Note at CES 2012 is not that hard to predict. But is the U.S. audience really looking forward to its arrival?...

phablet - phone/tablet
I played with this phone a little when I was in Europe in December. I loved it! I have very large hands so I didn't find the size to be much of an issue. The HUGE screen was very very nice!
If I caught wind of Verizon carrying a version, I would be all over it!

Im absolutely excited about this! ATT is always getting gimped as far as high profile Android phones, and I've been watching the Note since it first dropped back in October. Im rocking the Captivate currently, and this is the only phone that has really caught my eye. I love the big screen size, and the battery life sounds great! Plus Mugen power batteries is already releasing an extended battery for it, a whopping 4500 mAh!
Plus with guaranteed ICS support within the coming months, its a winner. Even if ATT brought the GSM Nexus over Id probably still pick this.

AT&T actually gets pretty good high-end Android phones. The Skyrocket has a pretty big screen also, more horse-power, and a better screen plus it's lte also. The Note is basicly for people that are gonna 100% use the stylus. If you want a small tablet to make calls with, the Note is ideal. But if you just want a high-end phone with a large screen, the Skyrocket fits the bill. I got the white Skyrocket and I came from the Captivate as well. I'm not a fan of huge screens but it's not that bad imo.

am sure it will do well, even if it only sells a few million worldwide,i think for a niche device that is very good. dont think samsung expect this to reach the success of the galaxy s/s2 devices.

wow talk about the safest no duh statements.
they will sell well i think if they sell 500k they sold well. i wish they got this for sprint i would want this over the s2 or iphone 4s anyday

I don't think it will sell well, but only time will tell

This could be very cool. I'd like to play with one first.
I'll probably wait for the Galaxy S3, hoping it will have a beautiful big screen but much smaller bezels.

I used to think the same way you do but then i realized if i was just going to keep waiting i would never get a new phone so i bought the Note and I'm very happy with it

I would get this if I did not go to Verizon. Very useful device - no point in buying a tablet and a smartphone - just buy a phablet, or a tablephone.

If it were coming to Verizon I would be excited. The Samsung intro in England showed some really impressive features.

I'm have it for a month now and surprisingly the battery life is just phenomenal compared to SGS2. Now my Transformer is often left at home and I'm currently contemplating of selling it. pocketable yes but for some it's not. one handed operations is less often because of it's width. galaxy nexus is only superior because of it's stock android experience.

Im all for it! ive been wondering when this phone would hit the US since October and Im also glad that it will be an AT&T-LTE phone. Im looking forward to use my upgrade to get this phone. I dont have to squint to see the words on my current phone (HTC Inspire 4G). Im a big man (6'7 230lbs) and i need a phone like this
I also think that Sprint and Verizon will have this phone and it will be as successful as AT&T's version will become. It may not overtake the iPhone, but it will be one of the more popular Android devices.

Great. another overpriced plastic tablet with a 1 1/2 year old OS. I've seen previews of it - too bulky to be a phone, too small for a tablet. But it does have a stylus for those ex-Palm fans.

I continue to be apalled by Phonerena's semi negative reviews of this phone. The whole thrust of the past ten years in smartphone development has been for more processor power and bigger screens. I can still remember 2 and 2.8 inch screens, which were eminently pocketable, but utterly crude compared with todays 4.3 and 4.5 ich beauties.
I got an Infuse in May because its screen was bigger and brighter than my Droid X's and I tried a Streak, (which was crippled by Dell/ATT lack of marketing and virtual software abandonement) ,and Ill buy a Galaxy Note as soon as there available. To the extent people gripe about the Galaxy Note not fitting in their jeans, they should buy some khakis, and shirts with pockets and roll with it like the rest of us big boys .

I've been waiting for this one since October. It will be a big jump from my iPhone 3G. I really need a larger screen. Now I won't have to wear my readers.

I know my brother really wants it but he's on Verizon so as soon as they get it he'll buy it. However It seems like a lot of people I talk to that want it are business associates. This does makes sense for ex-palm and pda fans since that have wanted something like this for a while and always ask me for something like it. Also it's easier to to move away from blackberry when a phone has a bigger screen for a better keyboard.

Big Hands = Big Phone.... I want it. I am waiting to switch to AT&T for this. Looks like its worth waiting a little bit more rather than getting the Atrix 2 now. I have the the Photon 4G for Sprint now and like it but would love a inch larger screen :)

I'm excited about it, though I'd like it more if it comes to T-Mobile as well as AT&T
24. SavageLucy42 posted on 06 Jan 2012, 14:17 4 0
I love it. My phone's screen is too small for reading and suchlike, so I am looking forward to getting my hands on this monster. I don't like talking with my phone to my ear -now- anyway. Always have a ear bud in.
Anyway, yeah, I am stoked.

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme! I've been holding off on dumping my cheapy Tracfone and switching to a smartphone for months now. I had just started researching smartphones when the Note came out in Europe. It seems like the perfect phablet (my favorite description, sounds good too ... FAB-let) since I'll use it more as an EDC tablet and only occasionally use it's phone side. As long as the hands-on size is managable, I'll buy and go with whichever carrier is the first to sell it in the US.

I like to have one for games and movies, however i think the screen is quite large for pant pocket.

never been a fanboy of anything specific. But, if it has an exynos processor, im excited about it...
41. Leodrade posted on 07 Jan 2012, 19:19 0 0
Sorry to disappoint you but it's either Exynos or LTE (the current Exynos chipset is not compatible with LTE), i chose Exynos because LTE is expensive, drains battery very quickly and i don't need all that speed just for my phone

Seems kinda late to be releasing this phone when in Q2 quad core phones will be releasing with ICS. Although I'm sure it will sell fine with the 5.3" screen and the 8 MP camera and 64GB of possible memory.
29. ningaman999 posted on 06 Jan 2012, 20:45 1 0
I love the note I just hope they don't switch the exynos for the snapdragon and I also hope somehow Samsung allows for the physical button. Capacitive buttons gett annoying and I honestly do not use the search button.

well im happy its coming to the US, but i'm not a big fan of at&t. I want this phone! problem is i'm with t-mobile. Tmobile is always late on getting stuff, really hope they add this to their line up

Have the thing for a little more than a month and it's an absolute precious. Especially cuz despite all the hugeness, sweetness, and smoothness it packs a mean battery life span. Just came back from a 9 day trip, I had to charge it 4 times. It lasted through a 15 hour train ride of watching movies, calls, GPS, pictures, videos, games, etc. It just won't shut down :)
u fellas would be bonkers if ur not all hyped about it
39. Forsaken77 posted on 07 Jan 2012, 19:00 0 0
WOW!!! It lasted through 15 hours of movies, calls ect? That's insane battery life!!! Very impressive. Now if they could only get all their phones to last that long ;)

43. JGuinan007 posted on 08 Jan 2012, 09:07 0 0
You should just stick with your Jitter Bug it's the right size for you
44. M1K3YWR19H7 posted on 08 Jan 2012, 10:33 0 0
So what does everyone think about Samsung making the Note come standard with ICS and have the phone have no capacitive buttons and just be one big screen? That way the device wont have to be abnormaly large. I want this thing!!
45. Forsaken77 posted on 08 Jan 2012, 17:38 0 0
It's abnormally large because they want it that way.
