"One would be a direct sequel to the original Amazon Kindle Fire with a low-price and a new UI. The second would be a higher priced version with a faster processor, more storage, volume controls and a camera. "

so only new UI... and how much do you guys the price of the high price version... if it sporting same tegra chips then i think its a worthy competitor to nexus 7!

the only thing is Amazon's complete lack of keeping up with everything that is Android about the Fire. to this day the Fire has remained on Gingerbread and that is unacceptable for anyone interested in an Android Tablet or really anything more than a sophisticated e-reader.

i know right!!

some people dont really agree with me that amazon should have its own operating system..

and your really right about being an android tablet.. it should be one of the best in the competition.. if they want an android tablet not just for e-reader but also for apps/games better buy a nexus 7--latest greates and awesome for its price, you will already have a quadcore device at $200!!!

some user here in PA told me on a previous post that people will buy kindle as an e-reader and they wont even know that its an android..but i think consumers are bright enough to know that... what 's the point of researching...

so i think amazon should have an OS of their own.. since they got an ecosystem and everything, why not make their own OS?

if they want a tablet that will work like an e-reader, better buy a nexus7 since amazon has a kindle app for android...
