Yesterday, Motorola filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction against the iPhone 4S and iCloud, citing six patents which Motorola had used against other Apple devices in the same court. That Motorola and Apple are in a lawsuit...

you dont know that Windows is about 5 years behind Linux?
they just have corrupted manufacturers and governments to push their Windows.....in every country is any court deal about corrupted OS or Office contract from Microsoft ;-)

if apple can use silly patents to go after google by proxy, then google can use the same by proxy to go after apple with silly patents as well. Its a broken system, but eventually this BS has to stop, and i really dont think it will until one company fully puts the other in the corner. I thought it was time for big G to ring the bell and jump in the boxing match a while ago. If they do it directly or by proxy i dont care.. they just need to get in.

time will come when it becomes too absurd and a lot of burned money apple is already burning lots to get nearly nowhere I can see someone saying that i needs to stop
8. Lucas777 (Posts: 2137; Member since: 06 Jan 2011)
i agree it definetely needs to stop… but i dont think the stop can come from the companies… the federal government needs to make a more concise patent infringement method.. and i doubt appple is the only company burning through lawyers fees… they are just one of the few who can afford it

I said apple because we had a report telling how much cash it burned on HTC but it also works for other companies and other patents, point taken

While your logic is sound I doubt if Apple would ever stop. They are sitting on $97 billion and can continue this for a very long time. To add to that we have everyone purchasing an iPhone that will only add to that cash reserve.

I don't think it will be wise for a company to toburn down its reserves. Yeah the iPhone is popular now but eventually people will grow bored and make another company popular when competition gets realty tight a year from now I can say that apps won't be an issue on WP (a big market) and lag could be gone in the next Android update as I said last years quality of apps on the Android maker was not close to being half the way it is now. Competition is growing greatly with big steps that are really steady and popular names are also taking over (Sony and Nokia). To me its not wise.

well apple is going after their new lock screen claiming it violates their "slide to unlock" patent what comes around goes around
agree with Michael tho some of these patents need to be removed

While I wish all the crap would stop, it would help if you knew this: According to arstechnica, the judge simply said they had to file this patent suit under it's own case instead of the current one they were using.
In other words they already tried to sue for this, but had to refile under its own case.

Agreed that the patents are silly, but the courts won't hear any of Motorola's more serious patent infringement cases against Apple for another year or so. Don't blame them for trying to get something else going in the meantime.
It's like Command and Conquer. Your big vehicle, the super awesome one that can kick ass against everything, is in production, but it's not ready yet. Suddenly you're being attacked by the enemy's forces and they're starting to overwhelm your base! So what do you do? Make a bunch of smaller, bulls**t guys to distract the invaders until your big guns can be brought to bear. :)

But I don't understand why it would be important that Google gave or did not give a go-ahead in this matter. What I mean is, I don't get why it should be news- of course they gave the go-ahead, duuuhhhh *hits side of head and blinks twice*.

..... its because google has stayed away from the lawsuits, it always seemed like google was waiting for the right time... could this be it?
if you find it non newsworthy then dont read it

Bloodline... I know they had stayed away from lawsuits but they were never immune to being dragged into them. I believe Motorola is still somehow independent from Google. And since Motorola has a large sack of patents, they cannot let them be violated, especially by Apple. I believe Motorola were always gonna sue Apple for those patent infringements. So Google would let Motorola go about their business.
If you remember, there was talk that Google would favor Motorola over other OEMs after the acquisition, but Google said they will let Motorola make their own mobile decisions and that Moto would compete against other Android OEMs to make Google phones. That talk all but ended after Google asserted this position which insists on Motorola's independence.

If Apple would put all that money spent on court patent battles against android and the manufactures and concentrate on the factories in China that they're abusing and neglecting because they're the ones making the iPhone for them. They wouldn't have any patent battles if wasn't for those workers in those factories. I for one feel sorry for the workers. I'll never support Apple ever!
