Developers on Verizon cannot get the Limited Edition BlackBerry 10 handset
0. phoneArena 03 Feb 2013, 02:48 posted on
BlackBerry says it has started sending out the Limited Edition BlackBerry 10 handsets for developers, except for those on Verizon who will not be able to receive the Limited Edition "Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control;" In lieu of the Limited Edition model, Verizon customers can receive a Verizon branded BlackBerry 10 device or a Limited Edition BlackBerry 10 device from an alternate carrier...

No...BB is not open source...it still has some limitations, you can't run bb 10 on htc devices can you?
will dig its own grave

Ok, great, it's not open source. What's your point? I own an HTC device and it takes months upon months for device to create/modify the kernal in such a way that will allow you to run the newest update. So what has open source done for me in terms of timely updates?
You are correct, you will dig your own grave. It seems like BB is willing to adjust their business model(even if it did take so long) to respond to what the market wants?

That's why BB rocks...the softwares that are limited are the ones that are best...just like IOS
It's like being able to convert to being jewish...u still weren't born one but u sure can try to be one haha

This irony, you're not smart enough to be a developer, but if you were smart enough to be developer you would not sells the device.

Whatever you say fanboy! you will always be cheap. iphones and bbs are always premiuim, your precious sammy will always be cheap. Its like you own kia, i own mercedes. True, samsung sells well (for those fanboys who like cheap products). but iphones and bbs PROJECTS(verb) better!
28. tedkord (Posts: 11923; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
Oh, stop. iPhones and Blackberries are not Mercedes (unless you mean late 1990s - early 2000s Mercedes). They're more like Coach purses. They aren't any better than other purses, they're purchased because others can plainly see it's a Coach.
Its form over function. Style over substance. And its sad.
66. tryingHARD (Posts: 64; Member since: 31 Dec 2012)
do i really need 5 inches phone to call and text someone? do i really need 5inches to see a movie? whats the use of a tv? and by form over function, making calls and sending msgs/emails browsing the web are the ones i do and i need. (browsing the web is done 80% on my ipad btw) so think of it, i have these functions already in a very good looking device. that makes form = function, style = substance! and its very freaking awesome!
35. MistB (Posts: 581; Member since: 07 Jul 2012)
I have to admit I'm loyal to no one brand but if you put form over functionality doesn't that defeat the purpose of the usability of the device. That is short sighted mentality, you pick one brand over because it has a more glass like yet fragile substance and more prone to scratches over the other that just performs seamlessly with added extras that are actually quite useful? C'mon, no one is attacking Blackberry except one, I actually want Blackberry to do well and support them like they have supported me with software updates via the trusty Playbook i have and I'm no Apple hater, like I said I own and use every OS bar Windows Phone 8 (which is next on my shopping list btw) but it is silly when the only thing people attack others for using Android and Samsung for is the materials they use, that's like saying I should't drive a sports car because of the less exotic materials being used and because of the fact is uses lighter Carbon Fibre material over Walnut wood trim.

Lol bb = premium? Just see the z10, it is made out of a cheap plastic,
If phones were car
S3 = Lexus LFA
iPhone = Aventador
BB = ford focus
43. 14545 (Posts: 1598; Member since: 22 Nov 2011)
Did you really just pretend that the S3 isn't made out of cheap plastic? HAVE YOU SEEN THE S3, because I am really beginning to question whether or no you own one. If you said Moto, or maybe HTC, then you might have a point, but the S3, in terms of materials used, is = "Ford Focus".
53. Xtasy (Posts: 284; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
did u hold the z10? ahhhh NOPE! soooooooooo, shut down already, like your S3
67. tryingHARD (Posts: 64; Member since: 31 Dec 2012)
i saw it already and i have one now! the materials and build quality is far way better than s3. come on.. you must be blind or you dont have hands to hold it.
71. daftastic (Posts: 87; Member since: 07 Jan 2013)
Correction the Ford Focus is actually a well made car, you're talking about the Corvette, plastic used everywhere in that car even the rear panels. The suspension sucks, leaf springs iirc
63. SamsungFan (Posts: 201; Member since: 16 Apr 2012)
Anyway Sammy always beats them in features and sales
68. tryingHARD (Posts: 64; Member since: 31 Dec 2012)
yes thats true. i hope they will do more. and keep some fanboys contented and stop bashing other brands whos trying to be back in the game.
30. simplyj (Posts: 404; Member since: 23 Dec 2009)
Yup, because the Nexus 4 works flawlessly on Verizon.

48. Xtasy (Posts: 284; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
If i were you i would just shut up...get off of blackberries ass. don't u have a life?
3. jroc74 (Posts: 6014; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
Well....I dont what happened.....but I know the Android devs who ported apps and use Verizon cant be happy about this....
Ran outta stock? Showing preference to the other carriers? Can phones from another carrier be used on Verizon? I'm just curious what happened.
19. tedkord (Posts: 11923; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
Folks on Verizon just need to be patient. It takes time to load up bloatware, remove functionality, and lock down any possibility of increasing value and versatility. All in the name of "security" on the Verizon Network, of course. And if that means you get the phone 4 months after everyone else, you can thank verizon with your money.
44. 14545 (Posts: 1598; Member since: 22 Nov 2011)
I plan on doing that. I will be moving on at the end of my contracts. The may have a lead in 4G and overall network size, but when you can't do any with the device you BUY on it, what's the point in being on their network?
22. tryingHARD (Posts: 64; Member since: 31 Dec 2012)
keep the technology coming! its better to see a lot of competition. a lot of choices for us consumers! dont say like you will not get it, its dead on arrival, its not going to be a success, bla bla bla! keep it to your plastic mind! cause there are people out there who like the ones you hate!

Almost forgot. This is iPhonearena. Can't call Apple "crap" like I did in my response to Nikolas. Couldn't get my post through for a minute. But you can say "Fandroid" and all sorts of negative things toward Android and any other OS with no problem. Go figure. And they wonder why they've earned a reputation as an Apple fanboy site...

As far as I know, the only pa's writer who use iPhone is Johnnnnnnnn V, michael h uses nexus 4, don't know the rest though
Either ios or android is a very functional os, it's just designed for an entirely different customers
Android = for those who love technology, tinkering with smartphones, making their phone as personal as they want to
iOS = for those who like to keep things simple, hazzle free, 'it just works', if you want a little bit of customization , just jailbreak it
Believe it or not, ios is more customizable than bb, yeah you must JB your ios in order to make it customizable, But in life if you wanna receive something you have to give something in return right?
With blackberry, what can you do? Only themes and that's about it, Hybrid os doesn't make your bb customizable, it only makes your phone faster

CrapApple only has the largest chunk of the pie in the Unites States. And not by much. And Android just beat them out in tablet share.
You really don't know about anything other than CrapApple and Android do you? If you did, you would know that Blackberry's have been highly customizable from putting themes(Launchers on Android)on your phone to putting two different iterations of the BB OS on your phone. Blackberry's have been and always will be highly customizable. Please learn about the OS before you attempt to bash it. You're only making yourself look even more foolish than you already are.
And as for you saying that Apple is better than BB... In. Your. Dreams. The Z10 is so much better than the IP5. Better software. Better hardware.

Hardware? Are you smoking crack? Iphone 5 hardware is obviously better than the z10, z10 is made out of a cheap plastic whereas ip5 is made out of glass and anodized aluminium
