Design reference might accurately reveal what the Samsung Galaxy S5 will look like

If the name Sonny Dickson sounds familiar to you, it is because the young Australian captured everyone's attention last year, by working out deals that enabled him to receive parts from the Apple iPhone 5s and Apple iPhone 5c well before either phone was officially launched in September. Last year, Dickson told Reuters that he had a number of sources that buy parts from factory workers for $250 to $500...

Lets wait whether this is really the actual design. All we know so far is, that Samsung wants to implement some design changes. I hope they will. I dislike these drawings.

I am pretty sure the 5.2" is pretty accurate. The display cannot exceed 5.3" cos thats the note 1 size.

You just don't get it, do you? It's not about the looks, it's about the branding. Ppl. know the taste of Red Bull (tastes crap), and choose it over a different crappy drink, cause they are used to RB's crap.

Samsung went for the bold rounded design to differentiate, to be unlike an iPhone, a BB or your typical high-end phone - and ppl. started to recognize it and buy the crap out of it.

Yo momma sees an HTC One: "oh what a nice looking phone!"
Yo momma sees a Galaxy S4 "oh look, a Samsung Galaxy!"

Business 101 ;-)

Of course you do, cause your brain associated that awful artificial taste with the drugs-like refreshing effect. Classic Pavlov conditioning. And it works in the market too, which is why Apple and Samsung designs stay the same.

So you think your lumia is any different than the other lumia?? The xperia z1 is any different than the z or z1 compact except size?? Samsung phone is one of the most ergonomic and comfortable to hold.. why should they change it?? It's allright if they change the material.. but for design i think it still the Most preferable for comfort.. please grow up..

That's exactly what i mean.. i actually using an htc one right now.. i like the material and the built quality of the phone a lot.. but i wasnt very fond about the design.. for example the power button is a pain in the a** to reach for single handed use and the lack of removable battery is no good for the below average battery life this phone has..

I tell u what. Check All ashas, 505, 510, 520, 610, 620, 710, 720, 810, 820, 822, 920, 1320, 925, 929, And all N-series, E-Series, and all rest of Nokia models. He's right.. The Lumia 920, 925, 928, and 1520 all are very different.... But, they have a certain Lumiaesk style to them...
It's called evolution.. And, Nokia evolves their design at just the pace... Not to drastically, and not to subtle...
.....................
IMO Samsung, and Apple, evolve to slowly.... But, these are great devices, really nice devices though.

I'm not 'buying' this. At least I refuse to believe this is actually the design. Samsung promised Design 3.0 so I think this is just one of the rumors made to elude us. If you will try to notice, there are a bunch of rumors that doesn't completely support each other.

All the flagship phones are going to have similar specs so design and functionality may be the deciding factor. Samsung's design language is not bad but it's not worthy of being repeated year after year. Samsung is getting to comfortable at the top and it may hurt them. I'm planning on skipping the S5 after having both the S3 and S4.

More like boring, stale/dated design. I for one, actually like what Nokia has done with the case and screen design of the L1520. If Sammy did a similar effort but used a smaller screen size, that would be refreshing.

Of course, MS probably would sue. I wonder if such a design patent would be covered under the IP license Sammy has with MS? Things get curiouser and curiouser.

I'm in complete agreement, but that being said, I would still be a little disappointed if they didn't give us some kind of semi-radical design change this year. But even still, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Note 4 this year because in the end, like you said, the most important thing to me is what my phone can do, not how it looks.

That's exactly what a lot of people think as well. Me for one, I would like both look and performance. However, I'll still pick performance over look.

However, as for the general public is a whole different story. As an average consumer, the deciding factor on buying a smartphone more than likely is which phone is more popular, which phone they have heard the most. This is why iPhone and Samsung have been selling so well because they were able to gain the general share earlier on and now they can catch that wave and just ride along. I'm not saying that those phones aren't top tier but in fact they are great phones. However, other phones that is equivalent or better would less likely be consider by the average consumer because simply it is unfamiliar to him/her.

It is a very cold, sad truth

So it looks like on screen keys are not going to be on the s5 as I expected. As Sammy would not just get rid of something they have been working so hard to get on every device Including their tablets! However if they embraced it they should get less lawsuits from apple saying that the home button is copied off the iPhone for example.

The G5 will most likely be a small version of the Galaxy Note 3 complete with faux leather backing. That seems to be the Sammy design language these days.

Yh I have a feeling they are going to use faux leather I mean they even have GS4 faux leather variants. While it is nice and makes sense for the note series I would prefer if they use plastic for GS5. I would want it to be soft touch like the nexus 5,7 and 10 or lumia 920!

I have to disagree. The S line has never followed the Note line in terms of design. I don't see why they would start now. Even if it has the faux leather back, I bet they'll do a redesign on the front.

posted on 11 Feb 2014, 16:23

What do you think they will do as a redesign from the front because other than the buttons and the screen part from placement on the camera and LED light. They could add the front facing speakers like on the original galaxy note 10.1, nexus 10 and even galaxy player 5.8 but apart from that what else could they add?

There are an unlimited number of things they COULD do. I really don't have much in the way of speculation as to what they will do. I don't think these pictures necessarily mean that we will see the traditional button setup we've seen for the last few years though. However, I highly doubt we will see front-facing speakers from Samsung anytime soon.
