Ardent, the man IN COURT UNDER OATH said he NEVER once designed a Smartphone. His phone "expertise" is limited to flip phones.
He also told the jury that "Every design element of the phone counts", then after samsung grilled him piece by piece about the designs... from bezels to speaker placement, size of screen, differences in thickness, materials used, # of buttons, ect.. he said "those dont count, just the over all design".
Ok, well once you take out all the individual design elements.. whats left? A black rectangle.

People need to read the actual trial transcripts instead of just assuming.

Getting paid to lie is one thing but when one thing is true to most eyes than who cares if he was paid. I don't care because both phones are equal in many aspects. Call me a fanboy but I like Apple and Samsung a lot and both companies made mistakes.

just ask today's expert witness who got paid 80k so far to take the stand for Apple.

Just for easy math, thats $160k for 2 days and 2 witnesses. That is NOT standard procedure for most cases.. and we are just getting stared.

I'll wager that by the time were done the apple witnesses will add up to AT LEAST a million in "paid testimony".

Yes it is a standard procedure and the police actually does it all the time. However, the question asked was, how much have you been paid "so far". There's a limit to how much a witness get paid during a trial and whether or not it is reasonable. Is the expert witness going to be paid more than reasonable? If that's the case, the witness's words has a high possibility of being biased testimony. You're not wrong regarding it being a standard procedure, but there's more to it to just being a standard/normal procedure.

Sorry, it doesn't work that way. If the guy's testimony is pertinent enough to be newsworthy, then who and what he is is also just as pertinent. You just didn't like the article because this information could turn out to be a detriment to Apple's case.

Most expert witnesses in these types of trials are paid to testify. I'd imagine Samsung will have some paid witnesses, too. It does leave a taint on their testimony, but these types of folks aren't going to donate their time.

This isn't a wrongdoing as paying an expert witness is standard procedure. Samsung will have paid witnesses as well.

Taco.... standard procedures.... cmon dude, if you call out a witness, and the court orders you to be there, thats NOT BEING PAID. Apple did NOT have to pay that guy, and let alone, did NOT have to pay him $75 grand. $75 grand is a LOT of money and as easily as it is for ANYONE to say what he said... Do you not get it?? Court ordered appearances require to be shown or must has a VERY good reason on why your not showing up and that reason is to the court not the defendant/plaintiff.
