Dell fires executive who couldn't get the Dell Streak and Dell Aero off the ground

Ron Garriques, the man in charge of getting the Dell Streak and the Dell Aero launched successfully, is being shown the door (and a seven figure severance check) while the mobile communications group gets rolled back into the broader company...

His mistake was pursuing the same strategy that Google tried with the Nexus One. Even if they are offering great phones, not selling them directly to people through AT&T stores and other outlets makes very little sense. I hope his departure leads to a more sensible approach to selling phones, they can start by making the Streak available at AT&T stores with Froyo preinstalled as soon as possible.

If it says unlocked, then it should be unlocked. I would have bought one on the T-mobile network, but with no 3G bands it didn't have a chance.

Were it not for my beloved Aria, I would have one of these lovely devices already. I think it is the perfect blend in size and portability. The 1.6 was a big no-no. I was hoping to pick one up anyway and get the Froyo from XDA.
