DROID and Droid Incredible to get Froyo late July, early August says VZW Tech Support

A Verizon Tech Support employee, responding to a question about when owners of the Motorola DROID could expect to receive their Android 2.2 upgrade, tweeted back that it, "Should be around same time as Incredible, but I’m aiming for early August." While the response did come from a Verizon employee, it did not come from an official Big Red Twitter account. So, we have to file away this response as being speculative at best. Earlier reports had the DROID receiving the update in the middle to end of July. Android 2.2 will enable the handset to support Flash 10.1 and will give a bump up in speed to the handsets receiving their upgrade. Currently, the Nexus One is the only handset running the Froyo software.

Late july or Early August? I think eventually it will become mid/late august, haha~ But dont i wish they can be released quicker.

Or even better...we'll receive the Froyo update only to find out flash 10.1 will be pushed back to Android 2.3 and only able to be used on phones with a 2Ghz processor lol.

I can't believe you guys posted this BS! Those tweets were discredited almost as soon as they were posted. The Twitter account isn't even an official Verizon account or affiliated with Verizon. Stop reposting and do some actual research. Froyo was officially released 2, 3 weeks ago? HTC couldn't possibly have massaged Sense into it yet and has already said that late Q4 is when we'll most likely see Froyo on it's phones;http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-says-expect-froyo-version-sense-ui-christmas

and if you read the end of that article that you referenced. It says it can happen next week, next month, but it will arrive before Christmas. Thats a huge window to get the update. That being said we dont know the amount of tweaking needed to put sense on FroYo, but it can be assumed not too much because its an incremental update 2.1. to 2.2, not like 1.6 to 2.1. now when they get to gingerbread that should take a much longer time

Yeah, a "Verizion Tech Support employee's Twitter" is the last place i'd go for my information. I've done tech support for Verizon and we have no access that type of info. I can't believe PA published this as any type of credible story.

Since I bet it will be another 2.1 drama, I got tired of waiting and just rooted my phone and put it on. So far I'm loving it and I think everyone should at least look into rooting considering it wasn't that hard.

I agree. I rooted my Droid back in January and haven't run stock since! I'm constantly trying the latest and greatest. I've even had to use RSD Lite to resurrect the poor thing a couple times! You can't kill 'em!! I have been running FroYo for almost two months with flash and everything! Currently running Chevy's Simply Stunning V4.4, but can't wait for Pete's next release of Bugless Beast! I'm not even a technology savvy individual and I can do this stuff, so i'm sure most anyone can! I will hang on to my Droid 1 till someone breaks the boot loader on the X, if they can, then and only then will I let it go. I have never had a better smartphone! Welcome back Motorola!

yeah uh what happen to te 13th. way to smash my hopes again android. every day i wait for these updates is like christmas with no presents!
