DROID 3 rumored to arrive on Verizon on July 7
For one thing, Gameloft has added the DROID 3 (Motorola XT862) to their list of compatible devices, signaling its upcoming presence. That doesn't mean it's coming next week or anything, but it means that Gameloft has it on good authority that they should be prepared.
What's more, Android Life heard from so-called "close friends" that Verizon will be releasing the device on July 7th. That's in line with earlier rumors of a late June or early July release date.
While we can be fairly certain that the DROID 3 won't be LTE-compatible, there are plenty of other merits that make it a worthy successor to the DROID and DROID 2, including: a 5-row QWERTY keyboard (as opposed to 4), a 4-inch qHD display, an 8MP rear camera, and (most likely) a TI OMAP dual-core CPU.

You are expecting a 5 inch display with a keyboard? Ill be amazed when we finally start seeing 4.3 inch displays with a keyboard. Other than the Epic this has the largest display for android with a slide out keyboard.

5 inch display? what are you? some sort of NBA/NFL giant? for 5 inches you may as well get the Samsung Galaxy tab and put Google Voice on it for calling... you sir (or ma'am) are requesting a tablet.

I really like how the new blur looks, same with touchwiz. They both look very lite compared to the old versions and look lag free. I think the new sense looks cool and all but there is noticeable lag even tho it has a 1.2 dual core processor on the sensation. It isn't bad or anything but it is noticeable so this is for people who don't need the special effects and want something that runs smooth. In the end it depends on what you want.

Would like to see the actual specs on D3. This might the best of the devices on any carrier with a physical keyboard, and may go a long way to helping decide where we end up.

with specs like that, dual core and front facing camera, why wouldnt they make it LTE equiped? it just seems like they would lose a lot of market share, especially since i am waiting specifically for an LTE phone and my "new every two" plan is good for upgrade in July, but i might hold out for the bionic, would be the first phone without a physical keyboard for me in a long time though. we shall see how long i have to wait.

personally i'd rather it not be LTE, i'd have no problem getting the Bionic if it really mattered so much to me, at least this way the phone won't be so buggy.

In anticipation (fear?) of the tiered data plans, and since all indications have been that the D3 will not be LTE-capable, I went ahead and grabbed an LTE device with no physical keyboard... the Thunderbolt. Yeah, I know all the issues folks are having, but I am (so far) living a charmed life as far as the data and reboot issues. No troubles. And I don't miss the physical keyboard nearly as much as I thought I would, thanks to Swype. And if they do go to tiered data plans, I'm grandfathered in.

i think verizon is waiting for their tiered data plans to roll out before they start releasing 4g lte dual core devices... then they would have the ultimate devices, and get more and more money from data hungry people like me....

that's how you know a phone sucks ass, when you have to make three versions of it, you gotta hand it to Verizon or whoever names the phones very original. I just don't understand why can't the US just keep the names the phones originally had instead of changing them and giving them names that sounds like something in a teenagers magazine. watch next quarter the droid 4,5 and 6 will be rolling out followed my the all new HTC Mangina or Samsung Bieber as for the phone same shit as the ones before it very miner changes if that.

well i didn't see one example of a name that would be better for a phone in your little rant there. why would a company keep the name of an older product for the next in the line of it's series? who's going to know the difference between the models? it's the same thing when you improve upon software, you gotta change the version number to accurately show it's development.

only the ignorant which is 80% of America would buy something without really going in depth with whatever their about to buy that's why many people who buy thing's end up returning them for something better or something else. That's why people think we as American's are retarded we let them see those 80% that ruin it for everyone. Ex: BUSH

With the leak of the tiered data starting on July 7th, I'm very sad with big red. I've been waiting and waiting for the D3, but if I'm going to get jammed on data I think I might have to forgo the keyboard and grab a Charge or a Thunderbolt. Very sad. I want my netflix, and I already pay for it, not going to pay twice with crazy data rates. 2gb for 30 bucks. Come on, seriously?

July 7th is believable. Those who picked up the original Droid on the Nov 5th 2009 release date will be eligible for their (final) NE2 discount on the July 6th.
