There is a difference between wild speculation and opinion. No where in #87's post did he write the word OPINION anyway... LOL ANyway I agree with number 90, they didn't seem stressed anyway just looks like stating facts and trying to control said speculation.

THANK YOU. You see there are some out there who look at speculation and take it as fact. Then there are others who know better... Unfortunetly the ones who take it at face value FAR outweigh the latter. So it is up to those who know better to say so. To stop the uninformed from forming wild opinions in the first place. I wasn't stressed and don't get so at such simple comments, I just wanted to inject some much needed fact into the conversation. My predictions about WiMax will come true just like any revolution that has come before. This isn't kindergarten where everyone's ideas are accepted, there are no dumb questions, no one is wrong and everyone should speak up at any time... Some people ARE wrong, there ARE stupid questions and there ARE some things that should just be left unsaid.

People can be so retarded. I think that closing their stores to conduct an 8-hour training is a good idea. Especially when it comes to training their employees to yield better customer service and retention. Better customer service and retention is obviously going to bring them more money in the long run. And WiMax is going to be major for Sprint especially since they have other major companies backing the technology like Google, Intel, Time Warner and a few others. WiMax isn't just about wireless and its already an established technology unlike LTE which is still under development. Yes, they did have a hemorrhaging of customers for a couple quarters but do you remember a no longer present CEO that made the decision to kick customers out. They're under new management and making a lot of changes and are too much of a major player to be taken down by just a million customers no matter how large that number may sound. I myself has never worked directly for Sprint but I did work @ a Radioshack for 5 years and whether it was VZW, Sprint, or ATT customers that came in, there were always customers from every carrier that it seemed like all they did was to try and come in and ruin your day. There is a large share of consumers that want you to give them a whole lot of something for nothing even when they're the one at fault. It gets old after a while. All consumers should work in a retail store for a week. ANY retail store. Or an electronic store. People will come up with anything to get something for nothing when the problem was their own doing. Yes, if you're in retail, it's your job to deal with the customer but if you work in retail or have ever worked in retail, you know that people can be so full of it sometimes and even though it's your job, sometimes you don't get paid enough to deal with some of the crap that people come in with like yelling in your face for a problem that they created. You just have to learn not to take it personal and that usually helps you handle the situation better. And just to reiterate, Sprint is nowhere near close to going under. So they've lost a small percentage of their customers but with the new technologies they're coming out with and the changes they're making, they can make up the ground they've lost. It's not gonna happen overnight but they're too big to just go under. As far as Tmo buying them? Don't think so. They're not even as big as Sprint to make that kind of purchase but that would be kick ass with Tmo's customer service and Sprint technologies. People need to get a grip and do some research and stop make ill-informed idiot post's. I mean, you came on the internet to make the post, you can definitely go do some research before you make the post. Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion but some people just really show their ignorance especially in the way that they speak. I hope that the Sprint employees really take in and pay attention to the training that they receive on Sunday. Especially the one's that need it and don't take ownership and pride in the job that they have. Maybe they can learn to take some of that on and deliver a good customer experience because they appreciate their job and their customers that are putting that good money that they make in their pocket...

120. (unregistered) posted on 17 Aug 2008, 01:00

And close my hopes, why don't you. Just kidding :)

123. (unregistered) posted on 17 Aug 2008, 08:50

so does anyone REALLY kno why the stores r closing? just curious lol

124. (unregistered) posted on 17 Aug 2008, 10:02

I honestly don't think anyone here knows exactly why. I don't think I've ever seen so many immature comments in any one place. This is crazy. We'll find out the real reason for today's closing later this afternoon I hope. After the "training" is over.

I have read this thread and am really confused by those who wish for Sprint's demise. I am a Sprint customer and am pleased with the service I get where I live as well as the prices of its wirelss plans. I am willing to put up with the very few billing issues I have had over the years, (quickly resovled), in light of the savings that I have received in using the less expensive/additional service plans they have offered. (And yes I can pay more but don't see the benefit of spending more for less.) Regardless, my confusion comes from cosumers here who seem take glee in watching Sprint lose customers and the possibility of it going under. As a consumer, one would think that competition is good for all consumers as it keeps prices in check. Because Sprint offers a $99.00 SEP plan, Verizon offers a $139.00 plan. If Sprint did not exist, one would assume that Verizon would charge significantly more than $139.00 for the same services because, well simply, because they could without any risk of losing customers to a company which offers a less expensive plan. Even if one assumes that Verizon has better customer service, if it sets it prices too high people will eventually leave for the less expensive plan. If there are, however, no less expensive plans, Verizon/AT&T could charge much more without any risk, and I assure you, they would. How people, (who are not employed by the companies), can become fans of a certain carrier or company makes no sense to me whatsoever. As a consumer I want the best value for my money...if that is Sprint I will go with Sprint...if it is Verizon or AT&T I will go with one of those companies. I love my family and my friends and prefer to spend my money on them. I have no interest in loving a Company that has no personal interest in me.

everyone is quick to say down with sprint but think of it this way. Sprint goes under thats less competition for the other carriers so they wont care as much about getting new cooler phones. As well customer service will go down cuz they wont pay their employees as much and wont hold them to as high expections. plus the loss of jobs. I not sure if you noticed but the economy isnt that great to employers arent paying new employees as much and/or not hiring and layoffs. so put that in your pipe and smoke it before you start holding you "BURN SPRINT" signs in the air. Give em a pat on the back for trying to stay in the game, for trying to make the changes the need to turn around.

Agreed, when I wrote about not understanding how people can gleefully for cheer about Sprint's demise in 134 above, I was speaking from a personal standpoint as to how Sprint going under would have a deleterious effect on both me and all consumers in general. But I should not have forgotten about all the Sprint employees and investors for whom Sprint going under could have a horrendous effect on their lives. Lost jobs, lost money, families losing their homes, cars etc. The idea that people can hope for the death of a company makes no sense to me at all. First, Sprint going under would have a bad effect on their own personal lives, (such as higher prices and lesser customer services from the companies that are left). Then, one must also consider the terrible effect that it would have on the people who work for Sprint. Fanboyism just makes no sense.

133. FACTO (unregistered) posted on 17 Aug 2008, 15:40

READ THIS FACT OR SHOULD I SAY FACTO!!!!!!! Sprint Retail Stores will be closed on August 17th for employee training regarding Sprint’s internal customer service initiative known as Red Carpet. Unlike what has been reported on other sites, Sprint will not launch the highly anticipated HTC Diamond on that day but will launch the Motorola VE20 and mark the official launch of the Airave service which we previously reported on. Customer service will still remain open as will major third-party vendors such as Radio Shack and Best Buy. EXACTLY AND THERE'S UR FACTS!!!!!!

136. Maleem (unregistered) posted on 20 Aug 2008, 04:13

Ok to all you sprint employees on this site, do you know why people love to see sprint going under? It's former customers like me that had to call you damn guys multiple times every month and spend hours, because I get charged for random shit I never agreed to, that you say I used but I know I never did. And most the time when you do call you get hung up on, or I try to get got sold something I do not want and never will use and when I say no, next month it shows on my bill. I still remember the last time I called into sprint you guys wouldn't fix your own billing issue and I asked the rep why she couldn't fix it, and the rep told me "because were sprint" I asked her well who do you have cell service with and she said "AT&T". I was shocked and horrified and counted my days tell the end of my contract. I could go on and on for pages of crap like this happening to me and others. IT'S REASONS LIKE THIS THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HATE AND YES I MEAN HATE YOUR COMPANY!!! Get used to it, until you fix your customer service problem. And RE: #144 you hit it on the head exactly.
