This is a wrong comparison. Windows PCs vs Macs + iPads + iPods + iPhones?
I would clearly draw a line between Macs and iOS devices since their capabilities are different. They should compare only Macs vs Windows PCs.

If thats how they want to compare it, then they should be including all WinMos and windows tablets, though it wouldn't make much of a difference as it stands now. Could change after win 8. But i'm guessing Microsoft will shoot themselves in the foot by making the PC experience similar to tablet experiences with their move to metro UI for PCs.

Yes. It should comparing Windows PC vs Mac+iPad. iPod and iPhone are not comparable to PC but if the data showing OS Windows comparable may be it could be relevant.

No, they should only be comparing Mac and Windows, not Mac + iPad vs Windows. iPad is NOT a desktop platform like Mac is. It's a Mobile platform (iOS) just like what's on the iPhone and iPod.

You can't compare Mobile platforms agianst Desktop platforms. That's just a cheap way of skewing statistics.

Agree. If they compare Macs + iPad vs Windows then it is bit OK to me.
It hard to believe that Mac+iPad will out sell Windows in near future.

so this articles actully meant to say Widows can take on APPLE all alone againt their all product lineup

and i meant Widows not MicroSoft since it is massive apple is nothing as whole against MS

17. fraydoe posted on 05 Jul 2012, 08:29 1 3

its a good comparison, basically anything that runs windows software vs. anything that runs apple software

2. T3chS4vvy posted on 05 Jul 2012, 03:45 6

so You are saying that Iphone, ipad and Mac together.. is close to windows? well why dont we stop the bulls**t and compare the number of macs sold to the number of PCs running windows?

13. aaronkatrini posted on 05 Jul 2012, 06:53

Yeah... why dont we add iPods too so we can make apple-F*gboys happy?

3. tiara6918 posted on 05 Jul 2012, 03:46 3 1

I hope Microsoft's new Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 will be able to change this

I do hope so too

Paradigm shift. It was the moment when IT industry became an aestheticized sign and religion. Before that, IT pruducts were a tools. Now they are a purpose.

5. Berzerk000 posted on 05 Jul 2012, 04:04 4

So... Apple has almost as much sales as PCs? What about just Macs? If we're comparing computer sales, we shouldn't include iPods, iPads, iPhones, and Macs vs. PCs. I bet Apple isn't anywhere near close if you compare PCs vs. Macs like you're supposed to do.

did u even look at the first graph?

7. JongLong206 posted on 05 Jul 2012, 04:42 7 1

can we have a feature in this website wherein we can "dislike" the article itself, rather than just a user comment??? coz i think i really REALLY have a use for that with this article. windows [PCs only] vs mac [all products] is just wrong..

8. roscuthiii posted on 05 Jul 2012, 05:32 5

You should write under the name "Armstrong", because that's a stretch...

10. Aeires (unregistered) posted on 05 Jul 2012, 05:53

If they are going to include iOS devices, MS should have their gaming devices included as well. No one looks atand iPod and thinks it's a computer replacement, nor iPhone for that matter.

12. frydaexiii posted on 05 Jul 2012, 06:28 2

Really? We stooping that low now? And you wonder why we call you iPhoneArena. We're comparing strictly Windows computers against the whole array of iCrap. If anything this article just shows Apple is still as pathetic as ever, even with all their products combined they still can't beat Windows' distribution.

14. haseebzahid posted on 05 Jul 2012, 07:58 1

tahahaa funny the articles actually makes fun of APpLe by saying combined all apple products VS one WINDOWS. APPLe can fight one on one try to compare MACOS vs Windows not [MAC+IOS+IPAD+IPOD+IPHONE] windowsOS

16. haseebzahid posted on 05 Jul 2012, 08:06 3

lets check MS stats
windows = most widly used OS for PC
Xbox = one of top gaming consoles
developersoftwares / office / software products = massive (even apple uses them in some cases maybe)
on these things i dont see any apple product coming near huh only Iphones yeh MS dont make phones
writer should quite and get a life

All of you are stuck in older times. In the mid 90s or even before lets say 2007 our image of a computer was a box, monitor, and the obvious accessories. The two OS's from apple and Microsoft was a clear and obvious battle. Now when we talk about computing and capabilities. What smartphones and tablets can accomplish are on par with most computers. Web browsing check, Office productivity check, Printing capabilities check. Obviously we are not talking about high performance computing or gaming machines but still. I think that in today's world its more then fair to compare ipads to pcs and iPhones. Hate it or love its a very different world.

19. Techsword posted on 05 Jul 2012, 10:12 1

Hmm ok, so guess what, I can get alot of that content on Xbox and like it or not Windows Mobile platforms have some market share, so lets add them. I bett the numbers look a little different then.

21. Immolate posted on 05 Jul 2012, 12:33 2

Macs are a pricey niche product and have been since the 1980's. It makes zero sense to compare iPhone sales to Windows OS sales, as they don't compete. If you want to understand the shift from computers to mobile technology such as tablets and smart phones, then you need to look at all of them. This is a self-gratifying answer in search of a question.

22. remixfa posted on 05 Jul 2012, 13:00 3

what a junk comparison to try to make apple look good. iOS and MacOS are not the same.. not at all. Might as well say if you add Ford together with Mcdonalds they make as much or more money than Toyota. (i have no idea if thats true). Its a comparison with out merrit or a base.

You compare PCs vs macs and mobile vs mobile. they are separate arenas.. especially concerning mac/iOS.
