The latest market share numbers are out from comScore, and it looks like more of the same, which is great if your are Google or Apple, but less good if you are Microsoft or RIM...

god, can you ever quote me right???

I SAID:

NEW SMARTPHONE USERS that are choosing between the 3 and leaning towards apple for its SIMPLICITY will also gravitate towards WINDOWS 8 NOT 7.. WINDOWS 8 IS NOT OUT YET, and take away potential customers from iOS.
An iOS USER THAT IS THINKING ABOUT SWITCHING TO ANOTHER DEVICE will also likely lean towards WINDOWS 8 WHICH IS NOT OUT YET. because it the half way point between stupid simplicity and crazy customization.

That's not how it seems to be playing out in Finland, where WP has taken off a bit.

I'm kind of surprised how poorly HTC has been doing. I thought the One series was going to get them somewhere, but they're still just a nobody essentially. The market is still being dominated by Samsung, LG and Apple.

You also have to consider the fact that HTC only makes smartphones while Motorola and Samsung also make feature phones, which is what gives them a bigger market share.

I think apple will try to ban Microsoft/Nokia from the market once it feels the threat.
What a dirty dirty company you are apple.

I like the comments on windows phone. I think it would be awesome to have more competition and with what microsoft can bring, it will be tough competition. Thus, i want them to really gain that audience and make it a three way.

I agree with you.
Except that I prefer it being a two way competition.
With Apple out of the way, it could become more tech related instead of a legal competition.

yet the 900 is still on ATT's top seller list. I wonder how many old windows 6xx phones are still out there being traded in. That's been what's affecting the sales charts for the last year... they lump 6xx devices with windows 7 which makes it look like its losing share, even though its a completely different platform.

Well they lump in all iphone, blackberry, and androids together regardless of version, wouldn't be fair to do the same for windows.

a different version and a different OS are 2 different things. this isnt the difference between iOS4 and iOS6, or Android 2.2 and 4.1. Windows 6 and Windows 7 are COMPLETELY different OS's from the ground up. The only thing they have in common is the brand logo.

That would be like saying if you slap an apple logo on android devices, even though it still an android device, it should count under the iOS banner.
